If I wasn't interested in a guest, I wouldn't bother going to the talk (I've been going to cons since 1982, I don't go to many media cons) but I usually find most guests to be interesting, even if I've never heard of them or read their books. And there's many an author I've only started reading after I met them at a con (in the con bar, at most British cons!)

Oh, no, definitely not! I am the same way. If I don't like someone or don't have any interest in them, I wouldn't bother going to see them either. It is amazing sometimes how people can act at cons. I remember a young boy at the last Stargate con I attended (New Jersey, August '04) who tormented Chris Judge quite a bit and was also a real ham at Michael Shanks' Q&A session. I think his parents were notified (he even stalked CJ going to the Mens room).

I really feel for AT when it comes to The Evil Ship of Doom (ESoD).
The writers treat Sam appallingly, tell AT her to her face that they don't know what to do with her character. At least the ESoD gives her character something to do, even if it deconstructs all which once made her character a fabulous example to young women.
But the actors opinions are irrelevant, they don't write the show, so they shouldn't get heckled over it.

I thought that was awful when I first heard about it (telling her that they didn't know what to do with her character). I also read that she asked TPTB if she could have more interaction with Daniel and Teal'c to show that they still have the old camaraderie. It's good to know that she is interested in keeping that up. But as you said, the actors' opinions are irrelevent.

Hopefully it won't be too bad this season though, despite the comment she made about having Jack and Sam married if she had her way.

From what I've gathered, that had more to do with getting over the to'ing and fro'ing and finishing it already than anything else. I think the back-and-forthing UST is what has done the damage more than anything. It dragged it out.

Not that I want them to finish it by getting hitched!

I think you're probably right about that. I've heard her comment like that in the past, especially that she didn't want to be the girl pining for the lead guy anymore. It was damaging to her character.

It would be nice to have it resolved finally and have them both come to an understanding that being friends is just fine. Doubt we would see that though But still would be better than a Sam 'n Sir wedding...

There's a picture on the cover of TV guide and there's a new scifi promo with a scene where Jack is apparently at the altar with Sam next to him in a wedding dress, Daniel on the other side of him and Vala next to Sam.

I know this episode is completely off the wall but I could really do without these images. Of course we know all may not be as it seems.....I'm hoping Daniel will object and Jack will go off with him

So any thoughts or theories, as long as they're anti-shippy, however silly, would be welcome, given the nature of this episode.

I wish I had some nice platitudes about it. Unfortunately, I saw that, too and really thought about vomiting, but decided it wasn't worth the effort and bad taste, it left enough of one without doing that.

Best idea I've seen so far (not mine but it's a corker!) to corrupt the image, is the one where they get to the front and Sam marries Vala and Jack ties the knot (at last!) with Daniel in a double ceremony!

I'm sure our ideas will be much more fun than what they actually do on the show. It's going to be imaginary anyway, look at the length of Sam's hair - I like AT with long hair.
But isn't a bit of a slap in the face to the ship fans again? I might not like the pairing but aren't they getting a bit sick of all the teasing by now?

The way the J/Sers have kept raising the bar each time they are given what they've asked for, i. e. a kiss, fishing at Jack's cabin, etc ad nauseum. I feel no sympathy at all. I guess I'm honest enough to admit to still being bitter over Martouf/Lantash's death "for the J/S shippers" and, therefore, I really don't care if they ever get what "they" want.

What about what I and the other Martouf fans wanted, what about the D/S shippers? they barely get good friendship anymore. As far as I'm concerned TPTB haven't fed MY fantasies, why should they feed theirs? Yup, I'm bitter about it. I don't like it that one section has been curried to over the others. Even Jack/Daniel friendship died at the altar of J/S. so... anything that shows how it should have been for other ships has my vote for a go. Sorry for the rant... it just "really" burns me. Probably because it is practically the only TV I watch and it has been ruined by "them".

However, I'm perfectly willing to treat it as a joke and hope there are lots of people out there with Talent with photoshop or whatever that will use it for all kinds of wacky, sarcastic stuff. Wicked, evil, and unforgiving, I know and I'm sure the "turn the other cheek" crowd will think I'm nasty and mean. I guess it is better than being bland and boring. LOL. I think I'll take your suggestion and make popcorn. Something has to make it bearable. Hm. maybe butter pecan ice cream with chocolate syryp instead. yeah. Ice cream. Chocolate. Cures depression.

As for not having to live through the real thing... we can only hope they will have enough sense to stop it here before it goes all the way and is totally beyond military regs. This is bad enough when it comes to a slap to the Air Force and the military in general. I keep thinking and hoping that maybe RDA will refuse to do these things. They want him back and he could say no. To bad he doesn't stand up for what he supposedly believes; that it doesn't belong in the show. I'm trying to be cheerier about it, honest. Hm... obviously needs more work.

From what I just saw on Gateworld, it looks like there are a bunch of parodys being done, so hopefully, they will play it for laughs, and the photo manips will be great. After seeing the pics on Gateworld, I'm actually beginning to look forward to it again.

No problem. Mostly am just being lazy. I'm on the treadmill, and it makes it very difficult to type although reading is fine.

As for the other...yup, I agree. Let the fic writers do that. Wonder how long after the wedding the shippers will be squalling for children with which to grace their home? Like I said before. Everytime the PTB give them what they want the shippers raise the bar. Children are next, but I think we should petition for divorce instead.

I love the idea of a big gay wedding - Jack marries Daniel and Sam marries Vala. Or Jack and Daniel run off, Sam and Vala look at each other and say "men who needs them" and run off.
Or how about Thor saves the day and beams Jack away.

I've read elsewhere that the clothes they're wearing could be a clue, Jack's wearing a normal suit and tie and Daniel in a tux, Sam has long hair off course. Daniel and Vala don't exactly look happy, read into that what you will.
Now I'm reading way too much into this.....

The PTB must have known the fuss this would cause, but yes as mentioned before nothing that happens in this episode is real, with regard to the rest of season 10, the following week it will be back to the Ori, Adria and whatnot.
What will probably happen is that this scene will be short and they won't actually get as far as ahem "tying the knot". There'll be a twist I'm sure.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've not seen anything suggesting there will be any pursuing the ship in S10 aside from this ep, RDA's other SG1 episode apparently is The Shroud which involves Daniel, as it should, and his Atlantis eps, Sam is not in.
Of course that's not to say PTB wouldn't do anything.....
I think if there is to be any shipping this season the concern is about Daniel/Vala, let's not go there...
