I agree that no one will probably be satisfied in the long run, except probably those of us--'shipper and anti--who've given up on the show itself. Such 'shippers can say it happened, and use the 'caps to promote their fanfic, and the rest of us can feel vindicated that this 'ship has finally flushed this show down the crapper, just as we thought it would.

Thought I would resurrect this thread a bit because I've just read the spoilers for episode 200 and I'm feeling a bit ill.

They say that

the members of SG-1 will be pitching ideas for a sci-fi movie, and one of them involves a wedding which involves General O'Neill.

Now normally I wouldn't make such a big deal about this, but I read an article from the latest issue of SciFi magazine, and in it AT says that

she is squeezing into a wedding dress for the 200th episode

I know that the cast has said that they will be taking potshots at themselves in the 200th episode, so maybe this "wedding" is part of a joke to poke fun at the S/J people. I'm not too sure about that, though. I'd love to know just whose idea this "wedding" would be.

Perhaps it won't be so bad, though, if it's just an idea and they won't actually get married. I still have my doubts and I can see some fanfic fix-its for this episode already...

This makes me feel sick. Angry and depressd too - I had already heard rumours of the J/S ship being resrecuted (sp?!?) due to RDA's return and this takes the biscuit.

'Pokes fun' - hmmm, I think that is exactly what TPTB are doing to their 'beloved' fans. By dangling the carrot in front of the J/S shippers and giving them a

proxy wedding they and playing with emotions (and not in a good way). If true then all sides - J/S shippers, non-shippers and the anti-J/S fans are going to be pi***d.

Also it means they dragged RDA back not only to try and revive the show via his fans (a group I belong to, though later incarnations of Jack left all to be desired) but also the only stoy they can think to bring him back to on Stargate SG-1 is ship. The one where he assumes his zombie persona remember? Says alot for what they think of his character - a joke as Seasons 7-9 are reminders.

This would never have happened in Seasons 1-3 of SG-1. I think I'll go and relive the glory days and re-watch the film - otherwise I'm not going to be able to remember what was so good about this once original, inspiring show.

I was actually very fond of Martouf/Carter and Narim/Carter and wouldn't have minded either of those pairings (or PEte for that matter) ended up as canon. Alas it wasn't meant to be. Though I have ideas for a sig now ... text as capping is beyond me.

LOL! I needed that laugh badly. I disagree with the bit about Carter looking gorgous but otherwise that scenario will be a nice replacement for whatever castrophe they (may) put in its place. Poor AT - and RDA - reduced to playing

Damn, I don't drink. But the sad thing? I was planing to tune in just to see RDA again becuase I hoped that with an RDA who acutally wanted to be there he would be more enthusatic - not intelligent!Jack. I wasn't foolish enough to think TPTB would actually write a Jack who wasn't a walking joke, but a 'glad to be there Jack' was my hope ... until I heard this nasty rumour.

Crap. Barely-parted fingers or getting out of the room will have to suffice. Let's hope the rumours are just that - rumours. Otherwise we'll get TPTB fantasies on international television.

Get ready for the Daniel/Vala wedding. Joking!

What if Sam is not marrying Jack in any capacity? I'm sure tptb know the wedding spoiler is getting leaked out. So what if this is all about getting people talking and wanting to see -shippers to see it, anti shippers because it'll be like watching a car wreck. They make it seem like it's going to be Jack up until the last minute. And, then, it's someone else. I wouldn't put it past them. They did the bait and switch with implying Jack was dead in Heroes. They kept hinting but never saying anything about all the AU love bunny Sam's in Ripple Effect being with Jack. I can just see them causing a whole lot of ruckus and not actually having anything happen in the end. Or, maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, because if it turned out that it wasn't Jack, I'd be happy. Maybe there's actually some other use for the wedding dress. Although, now I think I'm reaching, since they specfically mentioned shark jumping.

I read the same thing, but my first thoughts were that if they were doing it in that way then it meant that they weren't doing it in the "actual" show. I seem to remember one of TPTB saying something to the affect that the two hundredth episode wasn't considered, by them, to be "part of" the ongoing show and the stuff in it and the one hundredth were just poking fun at themselves and some of the fans. No, I have no idea where I read it, but I think it was in one of the interviews they did not long ago.

Actually, now that I think of it, I remember them saying something to that effect as well. I think that even MS said something along those lines, that they'd be taking potshots at themselves.

My other thought on the subject is that if they do "that" then it is finally brought to a close and hopefully it is ended. The J/Sers get their "happy ending" but the SG1 canon isn't affected by "it" because it didn't actually happen. Thank the Goddess for that.

Good point. I think that they only way they'd be able to do it would be in something like this, since it would still be against regulations for them to *actually* get married. Though, I have to say that I wonder which of them would come up with this idea. Sam? Jack? Certainly can't see Daniel or Teal'c doing it... I guess it's not hard to suspend all disbelief if this isn't going to be an actual "serious" episode...

At any rate, at this point, until I see it, I'm not going to let it disturb me too much. If it was in a regular episode, I'd be planning on being sick everytime one of them walked into a scene. As it stands, we can only hope that they will have the decency to point out that it could not be done in reality due to their respective careers.

That's a good way to look at it, and I really hope they'd do that, too. Maybe someone pitches the idea and they are reminded of that fact. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

My thinking is, this is going to turn into trying to please everyone and pleasing no one. We'll have to sit through seeing a wedding -fake or not, it'll still be on the screen. The shippers will feel like they're being toyed with, with a fake wedding. That's not what they want. I mean the ones who want that. They want the real deal (and honestly, from their pov, I don't blame them). Or else the AU's would be enough. I think at most there will be people who don't care, but a lot of people on either side of the spectrum who will be p*ssed off. Although, I think I'd enjoy it if they did it and did the whole "if anyone can give just cause...." and a shark stood up

You're probably right... I remember one of the tptb saying that there would be "something for everyone" in that episode. Whether they're referring to the fans, or to the characters - or both, I'm not sure. I wouldn't doubt that it won't be something for "everyone" in terms of the fans, though. I guess they just won't be taking themselves very seriously in this episode, and they expect us not to take it seriously, either. LoL about the "shark" part, Dani.
