Question back at ya... do the lawyers really get to choose who sits on the jury?
They don't over here.

Well, sort of. In general, there is a pool of potential jurors, and the lawyers from both sides get to interview each of them. They're usually permitted a set number of automatic rejects on each side, and after that, they have to agree to reject somebody, or just go with it. They have to be careful who they reject early on, because somebody later down the line might be much less desireable. But if they're out of "rejections," they're also out of luck.
