I really don't understand why that was set up as an issue - and it definitely was and is. Because if it wasn't TPTB would have simply answered the question. For some reason, they are holding back on that information... why? Why polarize the fan base? (because it has - and will continue to become a bigger issue as Mitchell's character is developed strongly over the first of the season).

As Uber stated, I don't like the contention that this issue creates - between the fans - or in myself. I'd much rather have the command issues in SG-1 be straightforward (Mitchell should have been made a Major, or it should be made clear that Sam has seniority over him) and not setting Sam at odds with any of the new characters. Sam should be in command - unless AT doesn't want it because she doesn't want to commit the screen time required for such a role so that she can spend more time with her new baby. I can't conceive of another reason that is acceptable for Sam not being in command if she is to stay on SG-1 as a full member of the team.

I completely agree with you Astro.! If AT doesn’t want her character to have leadership role on SG-1 so she can enjoy motherhood then that is the way it should be! I would happily accept just about any scenario the writers come up with. However, if that isn’t the case and AT is committed to coming back full time after her maternity leave, then I am expecting her character to reclaim the role as leader of SG-1. If the writers write in another leader for SG-1 after Sam returns then I will be very upset. For me it’s not a dislike for BB. I would feel the same way about any new actor or actress that has taken command over a long standing character, as many of you have already stated.

Thanks to Uber, I came across this avi interview tonight and thought I'd post it here. The interview is with CJ talking about writing Changeling which in itself is very amusing but throughout the interview Amanda talks about the script and working with her husband. If you haven't had the opportunity to watch it yet, I suggest you take a moment to do so. It's actually quite cute.

From the posts about the SaGC Collection, some folks feel that a smaller collection would be OK, while others feel that we should send the Collection as is. Shortening it is a bit problematic as I did not see a consensus of what should be removed from the larger Collection nor a consensus on what should be included in the smaller collection... And some folks actually sent me stuff (or recommendations of stuff) that they wanted added...

So... I'd say that we should send it as is... are folks OK with that?

            To Amanda,

This is a collection of notes, comments, photo-artwork, poetry, humor, as well as character and episode discussions for Colonel Sam Carter and Stargate SG-1. Included herein is a CD-ROM with this Collection in Adobe Acrobat PDF format – where the links to other materials (photos, audio files, etc) should work as long as you are connected to the internet.

A Rich Diversity: Participant ages range from as young as 14… all the way to above 60! Occupations range from scientists, professors, mothers, students, audio-visual specialists, editors, accountants, psychologists, administrators, etc. Thread participants hail from all across the globe – Australia, France, England, Canada, all across the United States, etc. The rich diversity of fans that have participated and given to the SaGC has created a wonderful forum for discussion and exploration of the different facets of the character of Sam Carter and how women are portrayed and perceived in the popular media of our cultures.

Amanda, your portrayal of Sam Carter has resonated strongly in so many different people, of all ages, from all walks of life. Thank you so much for each and every day that you spent working and filming for the Stargate series.

We hope that you enjoy browsing through this scrapbook of samples of what your fans have created in appreciation of the character Sam Carter and you, the one who made Sam real – because no one else would have made Sam as special as you did.

Yes, and as far as I remember, all the SG team leaders we heard of were Majors except Jack, Reynolds and Dixon.

i think sam not leading a team has more to do with the show's title being SG1 than anything else.

in the 'real' world, teal'c wouldn't be allowed out into the world much less on missions, daniel would be on a second contact team and so would sam. she wouldn't be going into combat situations.

and after 8 years and all the knowledge they have, why keep them together and risk all that knowledge being lost in one attack? they'd have been split up to spread that knowledge around

but since we're in tv land and not reality, we can get away with stuff

Sorry no green for you...must spread it around according to the almighty keepers of green jello...

But this letter was too good and required some recognition... So I shall now repost that lovely drabble on Sam's obsessions with blue jello (and just pretend it's green):

                              ***********************

I wrote a poem today, Diary.

I love you. Let me count the ways.

I love the way you jiggle.
I love the firmness of your skin.
                              I love your coloring.
I love how every time I look at you, I get hungry.
I love how the taste of you hits my tongue and makes me shiver.
I love how my spoon cuts through you, breaking you into bite size pieces.

Oh, Jello, how I love thee.

I like it. Although everyone in the mess looked at me funny when I recited it.

                              I wonder why? I wasn’t that loud.

and after 8 years and all the knowledge they have, why keep them together and risk all that knowledge being lost in one attack? they'd have been split up to spread that knowledge around

but since we're in tv land and not reality, we can get away with stuff
SKY?!? That makes it sounds like its a fait accompli that Sam will definitely NOT be leading SG-1 when she returns. I have not seen nor heard anything that would point that way. In fact what I have read points to Cam being a temp.

But then we just don't know right now...and I think that's the point I got to on that other thread...wanting and needing others to see what I see in Sam, an incredible hero who's time has come.

I stopped banging my head against that wall and am trying a more subdued "wait and see" kinda 'tude.

It's like totally working for me man.

                                Like really.
