i was already into amanda at this point, but here's my memorable amanda moment...

in between seasons one and two, they did this little behind the scenes thinger (which i'd LOVE to see again!). anyhoo, in this one part, amanda's talking to the camera/interviewer and is referring to something that's going to happen to sam in season two. we, the fans, didn't know what it was, but it ended up being about sam being possessed by jolinar. but when amanda talked about it, all i can remember what she said was, 'really big', and she emphasized 'really'. it was super cute, with amanda doing this cute voice and face when she said the quip.

I interpret the picture of O'Neill standing at the window (forget which ep Avalon 1 or 2) as O'Neill in Mitchell's hospital room or physical therapy room angsting over "his good buddy" Mitchell. This is what they will feed us and this is what will turn me off about the whole thing. They know they cannot just drop a new guy so they make it all up and expect the fans to swallow the malarkey they throw up at us. I, personally, will find it incredibly hard to believe (make that I won't believe it at all) if they try to say that these guys were all friends and so clsoe that O'Neill was at his side during his recovery after his Antarctica crash since they have not mentioned his name in 8 years anywhere, anytime, even in passing. It will be ridiculous to me if this is what they try to sell - I won't be buying simply because it is too far fetched that the guys name was never even mentioned, by anyone, ever, even in passing.
I don't know about the spoiler pix until we see how they play out. (I don't have high hopes, but a pic is just a pic until it's in motion when the episode plays.) ( Plus I've probably vented a boatload about my concerns about some of the word and pic spoilers over at the Anti-9 thread, so I'll keep mum about my opinions on that in here.)

But re: believability of certain plot elements... I don't know bink. Remember they expected us to believe the S8 Citizen Joe episode - to believe that Jack saw Joe's life for 8 years knowing Joe saw his and didn't say a peep to noone. Yeah right. But hey, all in the name of filling up 60 minutes.....

i've wondered... what if not only bringing in cameron, but having him be leading man, is their way of setting up someone taking over 'lead' for when amanda quits? i've 'had' to think about it, though amanda/sam leaving is my exit as well.

              Sounds good to me.

I have created an explanatory foreward/note to put in the front... let me know what you all think:

              To Amanda,

This is a collection of notes, comments, photo-artwork, poetry, humor, as well as character and episode discussions for Colonel Sam Carter and Stargate SG-1. Included herein is a CD-ROM with this Collection in Adobe Acrobat PDF format – where the links to other materials (photos, audio files, etc) should work as long as you are connected to the internet.

Originally these materials were posted at the Gateworld Forum Thread: Sam is a Great Character (SaGC). Participants range widely in location, age, occupation and life experiences, but all agree in their admiration and appreciation of the wonderful attributes of the character of Sam Carter- as well as yourself, the talented actress who brought Sam to life.

A Rich Diversity: Participant ages range from as young as 14… all the way to above 60! Occupations range from scientists, professors, mothers, students, audio-visual specialists, editors, accountants, psychologists, administrators, etc. Thread participants hail from all across the globe – Australia, France, England, Canada, all across the United States, etc. The rich diversity of fans that have participated and given to the SaGC has created a wonderful forum for discussion and exploration of the different facets of the character of Sam Carter and how women are portrayed and perceived in the popular media of our cultures.

With such a diversity of participants, the result is a thread of discussions as varied as the participants. Some comments and discussions are serious… while others are humorous or whimsical… some are artistic and creative… while others are more linear… and others are whimsical…. most are positive and hopeful… but sometimes there is some pessimism… sometimes the humor might get a bit raunchy…while other posts might be a bit prudish… Definitely a very rich diversity of opinions, viewpoints and perceptions – between a generally accepting and tolerant group of participants.

Amanda, your portrayal of Sam Carter has resonated strongly in so many different people, of all ages, from all walks of life. Thank you so much for each and every day that you spent working and filming for the Stargate series.

We hope that you enjoy browsing through this scrapbook of samples of what your fans have created in appreciation of the character Sam Carter and you, the one who made Sam real – because no one else would have made Sam as special as you did.
Very well stated! You might consider taking out the "etc." after "all across the United States" (and rewriting accordingly) so you don't end back to back sentences with "etc," but otherwise I think it's a wonderful introduction.

I'd be more than happy to chip in to help cover printing costs. Just let me know!

              Hugs,
              Strix

Thanks astro. I went back on Sunday evening and started to play with the scrubbed Sam caps I'd posted in here to see what LJ icons and GW avatars I could make and got a few from a couple pix. (Still more to go, but since I was falling asleep sitting up here at the PC with my hand on the mouse I had to quit before I ended up having a thunking accident onto the keyboard. )

But I knew I *had* to make that Crystal Skull Sam into an avatar. I love her expression, her hair (for that pic) is just the right length, the colors are great... Just a great flattering pic of AT as Sam. So..... I think I'll stick with this one for a while. (Seeing as how I was cycling through some avatars every couple days in the recent past... )

From the posts about the SaGC Collection, some folks feel that a smaller collection would be OK, while others feel that we should send the Collection as is. Shortening it is a bit problematic as I did not see a consensus of what should be removed from the larger Collection nor a consensus on what should be included in the smaller collection... And some folks actually sent me stuff (or recommendations of stuff) that they wanted added...

So... I'd say that we should send it as is... are folks OK with that?

I love your note. It's a great high-level summary of our kingdom and says it all so eloquently. The only thing I noticed was the whimsical sentence - mentioned twice. However, perhaps we have *very* whimsical posters.

I vote to send it as is.

I know we have to wait and see but there were a few things about the picture of O'Neill that caught my eye that is why I am thinking the way I am right now - of course I could certainly be all wet and it would not be the first time!

Exactly right which is why I am of the mind that they will indeed try and sell us a bill of goods for the new guy's background that is absolutley unbelievable, at least IMO. I can honestly say that I did not watch CJ simply because it sounded so goof ball off the wall and unbelievable (it was one of many in S8 that I did not watch.) Considering that I have 1-6 on DVD (won't spend a dime on S7 or S8) and up until mid season 7 I would tape the show if I was going to be out, it is kind of sad to me that TPTB have taken the show so far down, IMO, that I only saw about 1/2 of S8, and purposely skipped the ones I did not see. S9 is off to a bad start for me already as I plan on skipping the first 5 and then we'll see how the rest of the season goes from there. I know I am only one person in a viewing public of 1-2 million but they lost a loyal fan and a fan who actually has the $ to spend but won't because of what they have done to the show.
