It was during this greeting that I suffered a major facial injury, when the aforementioned beast bit me on the nose. Fortunately, after a few minutes with a paper towel and an antiseptic spray, the bleeding had stopped and I was able to pronounce myself off the critical list. Even more fortunately, no lasting damage appears to have been done to my rugged good looks, so on this occasion I will not be suing the RA for every bean she’s got.

We then headed over to the far east reaches of Lancashire where we enjoyed a bracing 20.78 mile mountain bike ride, during which we observed several interesting activities, including a kestrel doing what kestrels do best, and a group of local farmers partaking in sheep trials – as far as we are aware, none of the sheep were found guilty.
    LOL!

Yikes! Again? What kind of bike rides are you two going on? Methinks you need to pick a nice flat, paved street next time! We can't afford to lost the RA down a ravine!

It was a genuine accident, he just walked in front of me at the wrong moment, honest. Or maybe it was divine retribution for his earlier unprovoked attack? At least I was decent enough to tell the RA before she patted him on the head...

Having arrived back at the RA’s and freshened up, the RA prepared another splendid feast (carrot curry and cous-cous), after which I took my place on the Stargate Viewing Settee (tm)
    LOL!

My views on COTG? Thoroughly enjoyed it, I did. Having never actually sat down and watched a whole Stargate episode before, I can see the appeal. I’m not going to ramble on about tight ensemble acting, or the great musical score, or the overall classy look and feel of the production, but I’m definitely looking forward to continuing my adventures with SG-1.

I would also like to apologise to those of a sensitive disposition for their being subjected to the sight of my knobblies – hopefully, should it ever happen again they will be rather more tanned and less goose-pimply (er, the knobblies that is, not those of a sensitive disposition). And thanks to all those who’ve been really complimentary. Aw, shucks, you guys…. *big hugs all round*

Finally, as Jester seems to worry about these things, I would like to assure her that during the viewing the RA and I maintained a respectable distance between us (separate settees in fact). No confessions needed round here, I’m afraid. And believe me when I say that if one were needed, I would be shouting it from the rooftops - after all, it's not everybody who gets to spend quality time with a Royal Doppelganger...

ROTFLOL! You folks should really write professionally! So much fun! Love the humor! Thanks for brightening my day and putting a smile on my face!

There's just some nostalgia kickin' in for me about coming to this thread and scrolling back occasionally to find some funny or serious post and, frankly, I've grown quite fond of SaGCT - the old gal has become quite an addiction! (As Murray has been known to say about Jester ...)

I hope noone is offended by this, particulary if I've categorized someone improperly. I'm doing this mostly from swiss-cheese-like memory. It is interesting to me, though... I've been going through past messages looking for photo captions, but I'm reading a bunch of posts, clicking on people's profiles, etc., just getting a feel for the list as a whole. What a cool group of people!
Fantastic post, Strix! And I am very impressed by your memory (doesn't look like swiss cheese to me!). When the list is as complete as you can get it, give me a heads-up and I will download it and include it into the SaGC Collection (great idea, Strix!). I have added a link to your post from the SaGC Index post on thread page 360

I will appreciate GREATLY any suggestions......my pc has not been very nice to me lately.
Hmmm... is anyone else having problems getting the PDF file to come up for them? I have to hit the road in a few minutes, so I won't be able to reply soon, but I hope that most folks can see the file. So far, Lida is the first to say that they were having problems. Lida - do you have a friend's computer or such that you can try accessing the file from (if it works there, then you'd know the problem was something about the way that your computer is configured). If it doesn't work at your friend's either, send me a PM and we can try and troubleshoot it.

As I've been thinking about a message to include in the collection, I keep coming back to what a diverse group this is, and how we're from all over the world, literally. I thought it might be fun to include a map indicating our locations. I found a great map of the earth from space at night, and I put on blue jello icons for some of the locations I already know, just to give you an example.

I'm linking to the map, instead of posting it, because it's too wide to fit into the thread. The original image is even bigger, so we could include a little more detail if we want. Samandans acrosss the world

I'm sure some of the photo-shop pros could do a much better job, and if they want to take over, that's fine, I'll be happy to send you the map or let you come up with a different one. I know people may not want to give out their specific locations online, but something like southwest US or central Australia would be plenty good enough. And of course anyone who doesn't want to be included wouldn't have to be.

NC(admitting to being not all that elderly at age 51 and certainly not as wise as I'd like to be )
Wonderful idea, NC! And it will be a great addition to the SaGC Collection when it's finished. It's so cool how you and Strix were thinking along such similar lines. Both the list and the map will be wonderful for the collection.

I find myself understanding and empathizing with *both* Uber and Carterslave. I can see both viewpoints - at the same time. And it's a bit disturbing... it sure would be easier if the world were simpler. I find myself conflicted. And sad for how the character of Sam Carter is now understood by much of the wider fandom and Stargate viewers.

For anyone who watched Star Trek Enterprise, the writers completely destroyed the main female lead, T'pol. And while I certainly don't want Sam Carter to be a never-does-anything-wrong-perfect-comic-book-hero... I hope that she doesn't end up like T'pol (a drug addict, weak, confused - Jolene Blalock's own words).

What I am hoping for is that Season 9 brings us back to the competent Carter that blew me away in the first few seasons. (I want to say so much more here, but I *have* to get on the road). And I want to see Sam and AT happy.

As the to the venomous posts on some of the other threads:

While I find myself often sad or disappointed at how some of the facets of our favorite character have played out over the past couple of years... that's it - I'm sad or disappointed - but I don't find myself venomous or hateful as I have seen in some of the posts around the various forums. Geesh! If some folks are that upset - and that angry... I hope they find something else in life that does make them happy.

Here's to some strong season 9 storylines that feature our gal Sam in ways that no one can dispute as anything but the hero that she is! There's nothing wrong in criticizing what the writers have done to sam. believe me, i've done it a time or ten

but there is a difference between criticizing and bashing.

the folks that criticize can usually find something redeeming in each episode...but others, it's all bad all the time and - in the case of some - they pursue sam with a vengeance that is inversely proportional to the devotion they express towards protecting and justifying every single action of their own particular favorite character

for example, in enemies/exodus, teal'c screwed up, royally. his revenge nearly got his team killed. now an example would be a pro-teal'c/anti-sam fan going to great lengths to defend teal'c's actions in his jaffa revenge while using that same passion to tear sam to pieces

teal'c will get the benefit of the doubt while sam will get just the opposite
Where in the World is George Hammond?
