i think, and maybe i'm being too romantic and sappy....jack's a man. he'll take the sex release if he can get it...but i don't see him marrying anyone other than sam. sleep with someone? sure. casual thing? sure. someone to escort to official functions? sure. a committed relationship? no.

he's had the wife and family and i dont' think he wants to start over with anyone but sam.

but i also think that he's not going to 'force himself' on her. she's gotta say 'ok, let's go' before he'll do anything. his ultimate goal is that she be happy. if not with him, then with someone.

he will be there for her, he will do what he can to take care of her, but he lets her set the boundaries

i dont' think he's doing this as some super sort of self sacrifice, i think he's rather insecure about himself. he blames himself for sara and charlie and i think he lacks the confidence to be assertive in that way. i think he'd rather be friends foreverr than lose it. and as long a sam settles for status quo, he will too.

which is why i dont' think he fought for kerry. she offerred, he accepted and they had fun.

And CG, I definitely know the feeling of trying to meet that deadline... We still have time, though.

Funny, I never thought of writing a Jack/Sam story quite like this but I was so disappointed at the lack of resolution to their arc at end of S8 and beginning of S9 that I found myself moving in this direction.
