In TV Guide for next week on the Friday highlights the box takes up almost 1/2 the page with a full lenght pic of AT from the S8 promo shots (the one with her in a tank top with her hands on hips and zat belt on and looking all the more a kick-ass competent soldier). Plus two smaller head shots -- one of Higginson as Weir and Katee Sackhfof of BSG The Title is Iron Maidens and it says: If you're seeking damsels in distress you are in the wrong space. sci-fi's kikc-butt line-up of interstellar action isn't merely a haven for the hunky swashbuckler -- it is home to a universe of alpha females. THE GRAND DAME OF THE BUNCH IS AMANDA TAPPING'S SMART, STRONG AND SEXY SAM CARTER of Stargate SG-1.

I am very heartend by the photos of ripple effect and by this very nice write-up and full length photo.

I was also heartened to see in the Watercooler at TV Guide.com today that they liked the 4HM2 very much and singled out Chris Judge and mentioned in very kind words Don Davis' appearance and they had very, very positive things to say about the Orlin/Carter moments and about Cameron Bright and AT. To be specific they gushed about Bright's performance and to close the blurb on Stargate SG1 they said that: "Along with the equally terrific Amanda Tapping, the kid (Bright) turned a great episode into a classic".

I am optimistic for the ep 2 weeks from now (RE) and I still hold that shred of hope that things may work out in S10 as well if TPTB actually pay attention to what they have got in Ms. Tapping.

Binkpmmc---thanks for all this information! It is really good to hear. AT is getting some really good press lately! I too was not at all thrilled with 4th Horseman Part II, but this gives me some hope too for some good future episodes. And thanks, Mary Beth, for posting those pictures. They are fantastic.

Strix Varia and Minigeek, and some others -- you have said some good things about Friday's episode and I appreciate it. My view is:

I hate to say this, but it was booorrrrring. Not all of it. I did like Teal'c and Bra'tac scenes, and I liked Sam and Orlin's scene in the end, but I'm sorry--the writing just wasn't very good, IMO. The landry/Lam scene made me cringe---why oh why would Lam give this speech to her father so publically. Sadly, I don't care about this relationship (not Lexa Doig's fault). Lam's delivery was just not very good. And I love Hammond, but the writing seemed awkward, although I did like Sam's reaction to Hammond. I liked Daniel/Mitchell banter a bit, but then it seemed like they were trying too hard to be funny---I mean I noticed it so much. I think when banter is good, you don't think about it --- you just go with it, but I'm thinking ah, this is the "banter time" of the story.

I fear that the writing has just not been good much of this season, and noticeably compared to the first eight seasons. Sure, there were some not so good episodes, but not so many in one season! I'm bored with my favorite show! Oh no! I thought that the Atlantis episode was even boring too! I could have easily walked out of the room. I guess I keep holding out that the show will get better again, and it is possible. I hate that I think it is boring. I mean I felt no urgency at all Friday's episode, even though there was a global epidemic going on! I'm bored with the Ori. You know, some friends were saying--if they had the Gou'ald on episode after episode it would have become boring and they are right. Enough of the Ori already. Let's go for that off-world adventure as a team together or let's have something that acually involves the stargate. Anyway enough ranting. Some of the spoiler pics and the TV Guide blurb are making me feel a bit better. I apologize for the rant!
