Okay since some folks have a long weekend this week with the Thanksgiving Holidays I thought a Sam Carter Marathon would be cool

If you were going to watch just one episode from each Season 1 - 8 - What episodes would you watch? Two parters can count as one since if you are like me you can't watch just one half of a two parter.



I'm thinking my list would be;
S1 - Singularity (great episode to feature Sam and show off AT's skills early on)
S2 - Tok'ra two parter
S3 - Jolinar's Memories and The Devil You Know
S4 - 2010 - okay I just like this episode
S5 - Ascension
S6 - Unnatural Selection
S7 - Going to put this one in spoiler tags so as not to upset those with sensitive feelings

Chimera - Okay not really - toss up between Space Race because I like the fun of the episode or maybe the two parter Lost City - one of my altime favorites

I'll agree with most of this...

But for Season 8 I'd add Gemini because it gave us Replicarter and the brilliant mindgame she played on her alter ego.

Amanda has the most amazing way of looking completely different when she's playing other beings...Jolinar, the entity, Replicarter, Geek!Sam...her mannerisms and expressions all are so recognizably different...it's an amazing thing to behold.

Stop and take a moment when you watch her playing any of these other people...how her mannerisms and expressions are so individualized and cultivated for the personality of whoever she is...like how hardened Jolinar was versus how light hearted and naive Geek!Sam is.

A Carter Marathon - picked 2 extra episodes as I haven't seen S7+8.

S1: Singularity - for obvious reasons
S2: In the line of duty
S3: Foothold - The Maybourne line and I like it when Sam+Teal'c work together. Something they don't get to do often enough.
S4: Upgrades and 2010 - 2010 is just an episode I really enjoy and 'upgrades' because of the bar/pool scenes.
S5: Ascension and Rites of Passage - not a huge fan of S5 but these were both good Sam episodes.
S6: Nightwalkers - I watched this one last night. The only thing that bugs me about this episode is the leather trousers, somehow that just seemed wrong! Great 'team' [obviously minus Jack] episode this one with everyone having plenty to do. The Jonas+Sam 'Let's get lunch' stuff always makes me smile too.

And Ascension was great because we saw so many facets to her character and personality that we don't normally get to see.

The only thing I didn't like about Ascension was Carter's dress sense

Was hard to pick only one or two episodes from each season.

I just re-watched New Order and damn Amanda was great in it. Little bit of everything plus Sleevless!Soldier!Sam!

That's the thing that makes you realise how amazing Amanda is. She's such a strong performer. No offense to any of the other actors on SG1, but Amanda's the stand-out performer of the lot. I loved her Geeky Sam! She was so cute! And so different from the 'real' Sam, while retaining certain qualities we all know from the usual Sam.

The girl is brilliant!

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.

THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.

SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.

I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.

Anyone got some good Thanksgiving Stargate Fan fic references?

IMO they are doing this because Carter makes their new Male Lead look bad. Plus many fans have reacted poorly to Mitchell as leader or co-leader and they won't accept it as long as Carter is around. She is smarter, more experienced with the Gate and Offworld missions, she knows aliens and how to deal with them, friend and foe, she clearly runs circles around Mitchell when it comes to command of the team, etc., etc. They cannot have both in charge - it won't work so they want the male lead and they have to remove the impediment that makes him look bad, look incompetent, so they remove Carter from playing a pivotal, integral role in SG1 by splitting her with SGA - plain and simple crock o' crap.

If the 'writers' don't know what to do with the Sam Carter character, it's their own fault. They're the ones that started this Sam/Jack thing, and once again they've backed her and themselves into a corner. Without RDA, there won't be any more involvement for Sam with him, the fans can only she her with RDA, they won't establish a long-distance relationship with him which could be used for why she isn't ever again involved with someone else. She could continue as the scientist on SG1 with only a few comments between her and anyone who knew Jack as to 'how things were going' between them. But to dump her Lt Col character for a newcomer on the team, why would they do that? How would that make any sense at all in the SG1 universe? Bad omen for the future of this show.
