but helen is an awesome character! i miss helen...

but sam's a 10 for me, whereas helen is an 8.5. or 9, depending on the episode. ('tempus' was a 9.5 helen)

I'd have to say Sam because to me she's more a people person - not that Helen isn't entirely, but she's far too reserved...I think Sam would just be an awesome person to hang with.

I have to say that I love both characters equally. They are very different and I love them for different reasons but can't say I like one better than the other.

I have to agree here. There's a lot of things I like about Sam, including her interaction with the rest of the team but I also love Helen Magnus. There's just something about her that draws me in. Not to mention her great sense of fashion and how gorgeous she is.

I know it's the same actress but there are so many differences between the two characters (look-wise), a lot of which is down to styling and makeup.

Another thing that's important to remember is that we've had 10 years of SG-1 (in the last two I didn't really like how they wrote her), 1 year of SGA and 2 movies for Sam, while we only got 4 years of Magnus. On the other hand, much of the focus is on Magnus in Sanctuary rather than how Sam is always part of the team (and almost wallflower-y in seasons 9 &10 and AoT).

I agree with all the points in favor of Sam, but I think AT dresses more like Magnus, especially with the shoes. We know AT loves those high-heeled shoes and Sam prefers combat boots.
