on the show, i personally don't care for the overt ship. and that's largely because the boys at bridge don't know squat about writing it. their every effort has come across like some harlequin on crack crossed with a porn movie.

real, overt ship is best left to fanfic authors who happen to care more about the characters and can do, to me, a better job

that being said, i too think that just dropping it is wrong. Sam and Jack's relationship has been part of the show since day one. And has been a major plot point more than once. you can't build something like that up and then just drop it. It'd be like making a big deal about teal'c and junior and then just forgetting that it takes 7-10 years for a primta to mature and we're in season 11 and oh, dangit, forgot to address it taht junior shoulda taken him over a year ago

should it be a major part of an episode? I don't think so. but a mention here and there is certainly warranted.

as to why sam's so often the target. WEll,for some, and i do mean SOME, of the anti-shippers, Jack is half of thier preferred pairing, so it's kinda hard to rip him a new one at the same time they need him to be the other half of jack and daniel (i do think there is also some misogyny involved too. Sam is hated simply because she is tall and pretty adn funny and intelligent and a focus of attention. it's jealousy. Sam is everything some of these anti-shippers may not be (and is also competition - in their eyes - for daniel, so she gets the full brunt of their ire)

In a way, i do feel sorry for Amanda. she's doomed no matter what she does. sam can literally do no right in the anti's eyes and they take it out on the actor. I have seen some of the anti's who happen to also be passionate daniel fans twist themselves in knots justifying some mistake that daniel makes while, at the same time, do that very same twisting to turn any and all actions of sam into something wrong

You know, whatever. Again, let them be hateful and nasty and bitter. I don't know abotu you guys, but i happen to have better things to do with my time

Sounds great to me! I noticed that Teyla is getting her fair share of physical combat and mixing it up with the guys on SA. Another plot idea: send Carter to the Pegasus Galaxy (or wherever) and let her and Teyla battle their way out of a situation! Oh, heck, throw Vala in for good measure ... the Three Galactic Musketeers!

I like that idea! We always get to see Teyla kicking butt but not Sam. They would make a good team. Those two could show all the little boys how it is done. (the butt kicking I mean) I am not sure I would want Vala there I think she would get in their way. She would be trying to seduce the guys instead. I guess my estrogen is going berserk as well but I am not sure about the other thing.

They went down the path of telling the story so that one walked away with the impression they cared for each other and wanted more. And since they did, they need to follow through with it for the sake of the Carter character and validate her struggles.
