^This! I don't get how people can't understand that shipping characters is not the same as shipping the actors who play them. It's not only incredibly intrusive but also really inappropriate, especially if they're in relationships with other people.

I think it's so wrong when some fans push things too far, I'm in a few different fandoms now actors within one particular fandom have stopped talking because the fans have been shipping them loudly even though they have been asked by the actors themselves to stop. Its so wrong!

The oddest one was a question which seemed to be asking them if any of them developed "feelings" for each other during the years of working together...it was very badly worded and they tried to make the best of it with as much lighthearted tact as they could....Rick struggled quite a bit understanding the questions...Michael spent a lot of time quietly explaining what had been said...


This question was strange and in the end they all said no and then Michael added something like "and if it did do you think we would tell you lot??"

OMG, that question made me so angry!!! I seriously wanted to get up, run to one of the microphones and ask the questioner, what the hell was wrong with her. The actors were getting really embarrassed, you could see that! I think, Michael and Rick tried to oberpla it a bit by their funning. But it was definitely awkward.
So why, if you are a true fan, would you want to put your idols on the spot like that??? Even if they did develop feelings... It's none of our business! You wanna ship Sam/Jack, Jack/Daniel or even Sam/Daniel... I really don't care!!! But treat the actors with the respect they deserve as human beings! They are NOT the characters.

Sorry for the outburst... But people like that are the reasons for all the crazy con rules that we have to put up with and that may get even stricter with every person that ignores them. And all it comes down to is actually common sense!
For starters: Just picture yourself on stage and ask only the questions that you would feel comfortable answering in front of a huge audience. It is not that hard! Really!!

I hate that those people give the rest of us a bad name. And the reason that the actors need security at events - FCOL, what is wrong with people?! Actors are humans too, why can some not see this?

My rule is this: if I see a celeb at an event where they are working I will maybe say hi/ask for a photo/autograph, whatever. If they're walking down the street or shopping or going about their lives I leave them alone.

I was mortified, aged 6, when my mum's friend went into her brother's record store where Mark Owen (from British pop legends Take That) used to shop, went up to him in front of the whole shop and asked for his autograph for me. Lovely sentiment but the poor guy was then recognised by everyone and attracted such a huge mob that he had to be escorted out of the back door. Like I said it was lovely of her to think of me but the repercussions were not worth it.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I really don't care about someone's autograph... I can somewhat understand that some people might feel different about this, but like you said there are those who just go crazy and seem to forget the celebrity is a human being too, not their property

I don't know if the story about rick is fanon or fact, but I do recall hearing htat back in the general hospital days he was sent out for events with no escort. It was just him and the crowds. And having seen Rick at cons I can see that the overabundance of estrogen kinda overwhelms him (and most other guys to be honest)

What I don't understand is why event organisers or staff that are there taking care of the panels, don't deal with the ridiculous questions right away. When an inappropriate question is asked, someone should stand up and redirect the line of questioning and not leave the poor guests hanging and trying to deal with it. Its simply rude.

Oh and one last thing. On twitter today, Amanda had a rather disgruntled fan who felt Amanda's tweet was unacceptable. I don't know what to make of people who expect Amanda to reply to all her tweets. You know as soon as she tweets she gets an influx of twitter chat...not that I'm criticising anyone for doing that as I myself occasionally tweet to Amanda too...but I do not ever expect a reply. It doesn't work like that.
Sadly this person took offence to Amanda not replying personally and then being the wonderful human being that she is, Amanda did reply back to this person.
Though I must say, Julia H did post a brilliant response.
Here's hoping that the few not so good fans out the don't ruin it for the rest of us. xo

i think this girl has a lot of personal issues and is suffering... she could do with some amandafamilyontwitter love, but she's very awkward... i feel for her. but it's awkward for everyone.

Was that the person who told someone else they were a nobody who wouldn't get a response from Amanda? Coz Amanda's response was awesome
