I'm going to the Battlestar Galactica con in Burbank this weekend I'm hoping that they have new Stargate photos at the con. I know one of the dealers that is going to be there usually has lots of Stargate photos as well and I'm crossing my fingers that she will have some news with Sam/AT available.
As Royal Researcher, I feel it my duty to report that Gateworld has posted photos for The Ties That Bind and Origins, as well as Avalon. The Avalon photos include a cool photo of Jack. Of course, Sam's in none of these photos, cause AT wasn't back yet.

I also bring info from another thread on the July 7 & 8 marathons. They'll show 19 episodes.....but some will repeat. According to the schedules, these SG-1 eps won't be shown again: Lockdown, Zero Hour, Icon, It's Good to Be King and Full Alert. Also, they will apparently show the badly edited 60-minute version of Threads again.

And (just FYI) SGA's Hide And Seek, Home, The Defiant One, Hot Zone and Sanctuary also won't air. And, they also will show the 60-minute version of the SGA premiere, instead of the original 90-minute version.

Why they chose not to show all 20 eps (instead of 15 of each show), I have no idea. Strange, huh?

I still think they should have had her with Thor in another galaxy far far away chasing down the last of the replicators that were not near a Stargate during Reckoning.
      Love that idea, Kat!

And the only way that I can see Area 51 being cool was if she was designing and test-piloting some cool new kind of interstellar ship!

Yes they are coming out later than they have in the past. But you have to remember if they wanted Amanda for the photo shoot then they had to wait until she was back. I would guess that in the next few days we will see team photos for Season 9. SciFi did the same thing with the Atlantis Season 2 promo photo with releasing them a few at a time.

Stargate-project seems to post photos as soon as they get them and a lttile faster than other sites. So if you bookmark the site and check back there in the next couple of days I beat they will have more S9 promos posted.

I know that SciFi is repeating 4 of the episodes RECKONING - PART 1 & 2, MOEBIUS - PART 1 & 2 in the marathon lineup. This I would guess is due to the East Coast /West Coast time difference. They normally do this on their regular Friday line-up which I appreciate because I have DirecTV so I get everything on SciFi starting EST yet I live in PST. So if they did not repeat things on Friday I would miss Stargate SG1 most of the time because I'm not home from work by 5:00 when it first shows.

I do wish they would show all 20 episodes in the marathon though. I'm having a little Stargate party that day for the marathon and then on Friday I go to Burbank for a Stargate Con.

that's great, tsaxlady. I hope at this Burbank Con there will be at least some news (a tidbit, a morsel) about Sam/AT and what she will be doing in season 9. The lack of spoilers about Sam is driving me crazy! Probably you won't hear much though.

Just wanted to share this with you all...

A few weeks ago, MajorSam showed me something she was designing for herself...a beautiful Amanda Tapping wallpaper for her desktop...

Well, me being me , I took her idea (same basic concept, same shots of Amanda, etc.) and made my own little variation and I thought I'd share it with you here...

If you'd like to download it for yourself, feel free to do so either by clicking on the picture above or by clicking here:

and... it would just have to do the MacUseless rant (I know it's AT talking and not Sam...but it's just too great to not have )
Oh yeah.... The MacUseless rant. And the 'Welcome to my life'.... What other Samisms would everyone else include???
I agree that Sam would have had a chance at command of a team of her own years ago - I always envisioned that she turned the offers down in order to stay with SG-1 (Jack, Daniel and Teal'c, not just the '1').
Could be. And I think too that some of it may have been that being part of the SG1 team gave her the ultimate flexibility that she likely wouldn't have had anywhere else in the armed services. Being a part of the SGC's premier team gave her a wonderful and immediate outlet for her many talents and interests, giving her the best of all worlds - she was able to combine the military aspect (things that go BOOM! ) with the science aspect (always coming to work each day never knowing what new and exciting challenge lay ahead) and still be able to fufill some emotional needs (the compassion aspect - helping others/other civilizations through tough times).

And the uniqueness of the SGC gave her a chance to develop and hone those skills over a long period of time with the diverse and supportive group of men on her team... something that wouldn't have happened anywhere else -- since the team likely would have gotten split apart and reassigned within a year or two if they'd been anywhere else.
It would be awesome if they had some dialogue between Carter and Landry where the General makes reference to Sam having turned down her own team several times before O'Neill was promoted to General.
Yep. It would be a wonderful subtle backstory that would confirm that she's stayed with SG1 and the SGC program by careful choice and not because she was held back by anyone. *coughing fit* But that'd be too much like right for the writers wouldn't it? *Thinks back to when Jack got promoted to General and TPTB immediately promoted her to Colonel and did it in such a way that it seemed like J did it because he could and not because she'd damn well earned it...*
It would have been much more realistic to me if Jack had become some kind of ambassador for Earth. Retiring from the military and then being called in as needed... to work with the Asgard on something... or to go on a special mission... I see Jack in more of a free-lance swashbuckling role. Moving him further up the chain of brass... ugh! That's just not Jack O'Neill!
Oh yeah Astro. Me too. Many many moons ago I posted that same thought on the S/J thread. So many times over the years they wrote in scenes where this race or that one loved Jack and would only deal with him... ('Course others couldn't stand him, but that's besides the point!!! ) Free-lance swashbuckling ambassador. LOL! Most definitely! (And so much more in character than the tired-looking paperpusher they turned him into.)

Why, oh why, is it OK (to most people) for Shep and McKay to fight over a girl, for Shep to kiss a girl, for Shep or McKay to be with Elizabeth, and for McKay to always be focused on some girl, when people have such issues with Sam?

because sam's been stuck in a love triangle - for want of a better term - for years. the vast majority of ppl that are screaming the loudest against sam are the ppl that feel sam comes between who they want for their preferred couple. and/or comes between the character they feel should be highlighted above her.

i've been in fandom a while, and i've learned a lot of things... and if you want further details (which i do not want to give here), email me and i'll tell you.

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I was just curious how people thought the opening credits should go. I've seen lots of views on this (the latest is the thread on New Opening Sequence Ideas in Season nine). I'm wondering how you think it should go and then how you think it will go, given the industry.

I would say that it should go:

                            SG1
                            Amanda Tapping
                            Christopher Judge
                            Ben Browder
                            Michael Shanks as Daniel Jackson
And then something like Beau Bridges as General Hank Landry

Here is how I am afraid it will go:

                            SG1
                            Ben Browder
                            Amanda Tapping
                            Christopher Judge
                            Michael Shanks as Daniel Jackson
                            Beau Bridges as ....

I think that the industry is too scared to have a female as the first actor named after the title of the show in scifi. I know that this is all worked out by the actors' agents, but I was curious what you thought.

I guess is gets me that some fans automatically assume that BB will be first---if so it is like demoting AT and CJ in the credits in this case (provided that MS stays in his current position). To me, this would be extremely ironic and grossly unfair, given that AT and CJ are the two that have been there all eight years. Don't get me wrong. I like BB and think he is a good actor, but I don't think he should have lead status above the other three. RDA, AT, MS, and CJ are the four reasons (and the writers!) that the show is STILL a success, not BB.

I agree with you, with one exception. I would say that it should go:

                              SG1
                              Amanda Tapping

                              Beau Bridges
and Michael Shanks as Daniel Jackson

I've always heard people like to be either the headliner.....or be set apart as special by being last.....but I could be wrong. I too will be upset if anyone gets billing over AT. Do you think Lexa Doig will be included in the opening sequence? I really don't think so, but it had crossed my mind.

Honestly if they were smart, it would simply go by alphabetical order...

                                Ben Browder
                                Christopher Judge

                                Amanda Tapping

and it should say 'staring in alphabetical order' so as to avoid anyone feeling that any of the four outranked the others. I know Shanks was placed in the category of 'As Daniel Jackson' for season seven and eight but honestly with RDA gone I don't really think any of them should get top billing over the others. If they are truly an ensemble cast then portray them as such in the billing.

But I'd be very surprised if they put Amanda in top billing, just because she will be missing five episodes of the season. I actually thought I had read somewhere that because she was not in all twenty episodes that she would actually be considered a recurring role and not a lead but I may be wrong in the assumption.
