Let's take it easy folks.

I can see what sunny means. There are folks that are getting very...antsy. And yeah, frustrated. and i understand why.

but there are others that know:

even if she's not in the show we can't do squat about it, so why get fussed?
maybe there's a reason for not announcing the casting that we don't know about

and we're just more laid back about it.

THose that are antsy, you are welcome to be antsy in the thread and don't feel like you can't express yourself. Just...don't take it personally when others aren't as fussed.

Please remember, there are a lot of us old time fans that have seen antsy fans turn into an angry mob when they don't get told what they want to get told. So rather than us jumping on the antsy bandwagon, we're trying to chill things out and not put the cart before the horse

I've created a monster. It was late and I couldn't think of a better word at the time. Really. I actually hate the word "antsy." It sounds so ridiculous.

I agree with Sky. I can see where both sides are coming from and both have a right to express their opinions. I also really, really hope that no one decides to join an angry mob. Whatever happens, I am going to be thankful for whatever we get. More importantly, AT needs to do what is best for her and her family and we should support her decisions whatever they may be.

Eve you'll have a fantastic time, believe me. The first few seconds is extremely nerve-wracking, but she calms you down and really listens to everything you have to say. She makes you feel comfortable and looks straight in your eyes when you're speaking to her (a bit intimidating at first having those big blue eyes in front of you, but she's the most down to earth person ever) No need for nervs
I should probably follow my own advice lol, I decided there'll be no crying at AT3!!!!

A little about myself...read at your own risk...

I'm a newbie when it comes to all things SG1 and all things Samanda. I just started watching SG-1 last year and it was by accident too because I was watching Battlestar Galactica at the time and happened to catch an episode of SG1. I don't know what it was...but I started to watch the show. I was confused at first because they had 2 versions. one with McGyver and one without. lol Anyways, there was a marathon of favourite episodes and that's when I got hooked. I got to see "Threads" and "Window of Opportunity" and "Heroes" "Grace" and I couldn't get enough! Shoot, I didn't even know what a "shipper" was before last August and then i found out that I was a "Sam and Jack" shipper ( even have a video on youtube to celebrate them). But then of course there are 2 kinds of shippers...polar bears and penguins...LOL! As much as I love Sam and Jack together...forever, I have to say that after the "Unending" commentary...I think I may be part polar bear...Sam and Teal'c...why not I ask? 50 years on a spaceship in the middle of nowhere stuck with no hope of getting back with only Gen. Landry and crazy Mitchell to choose from. I'd choose Teal'c. And obviously Teal'c chose Sam....FCOL! Jack would understand...well, maybe.

So then I started watching all the episodes in order: Season1 thru 10. And that's when I really got to know Sam Carter. scientist/soldier/soldier's daughter. Me being an air force brat, I could relate to some of the stuff sam went through. and being in medicine I certainly could relate to her love of science. But even more than that, she was a woman trying to make it in a man's world. trying to prove her worth. It's really something to see her "grow up" in 30 days...the length of time it took me to finish 10 seasons. And to see her commanding Atlantis....WOW! You've come a long way Sam. I only wish that I had been there from the beginning like some of you. I missed out on a lot of stuff.

I'm one of those people who like 'behind the scenes' stuff, so I like to know the artist behind the character and that's when I got to know Amanda Tapping. I think I've read pretty much every interview that's out there and watched every YOUTUBE offering and of course read what other people had to say about her. And to actually find out that she's genuine, very down to earth and goofy, loves to have fun. Serious about her art but doesn't take herself too seriously, respects others and carries herself well, not to mention very well-spoken and tells funny stories. And I got the feeling that she truly cares about others. It didn't take too long before i became a "Samandan."

Anyways, you guys are a crazy bunch and i love that about you. And you're good people...very supportive of each other and always encouraging each other on. So, before I get too sappy I shall shut my trap...

About SGA / Sanctuary. I read somewhere that the filming of the first 8 webisodes of Sanctuay only took 1 month. Is there going to be more filmed this time around? And AT is not the only person involved in both Sanctuary & SGA right? So maybe, they are working out how to combine them?

And I just downloaded Sanctuary, didn't see it before .. so I'll have a fun weekend.


O, and about the interview ... I think the part that caught me the most was that she's so exhausted, it gets confused with being giddy. That's just sad, the poor thing, I sure hope she will look after herself.

You see, I don't think anyone here is demanding. I think of it as an expression of I rather know now whether Sam's returning so that I can get on with the next step. No one likes to be strung along. I also think it's theraputical to express your concerns. Some will not agree with it and that's just fine. But I have come to think that one can express their feelings on this thread without being criticized about their feelings.

So maybe my using demanding was a little too strong, for that I apologize, but I'm not going to apologize for sharing my feelings on this. I've gotten just as critisized for sharing my feelings.

Face it everyone, we are not all going to agree on this and many things. The beauty of this thread family is that we still can and do get along. That's why I love hanging here.

I'm excited with the prospect of AT directing and producing more. Maybe it's the opportunities I have had on Sanctuary's DNI thread recently learning how complex and thought provoking directing can be. lol there is no way I would be able to do it. It's not just a matter of placing a camera here or there. It's their interpretation of the script. Obviously you need a good script and good actors to bring the characters to life, but I'm learning now that a good director brings the entire story to life and they are just as priceless. I'm amazed at what they have to do.. lol can you tell. I hope that doesn't sound too cheesy ... but I think it's pretty cool.

Just checking in at lunch and heard about this debate. Ya know, I could be wrong, but I feel like AT will be back next season. What was the purpose of introducing her character to the Atlantis landscape so gradually if not to prepare for the long haul (and avoid the anti-Cam sentiment that occurred when Cam was put front and center in S9)? I feel (although I don't know) that AT, being the smart person she is, and knowing the character has faced (unjustified) criticism in the past, probably asked to be introduced slowly for just that purpose.

I would hate to see AT leave the franchise...just as I hated to see RDA leave. But do I think it's going to happen in S5? No. Amanda loves the people she works with, and she loves to work. My spidey sense tells me she will be there.

As to shooting starting in a few weeks...will it? The Writer's Guild is still on strike. I was glad SGA was in the can for S4 before the strike began. But (and forgive my ignorance here if I've missed something) are the showrunners part of the same union or a different one? Most of the writer/producers in the US are not working because they came up as writers. It's the same for TPTB, unless there's a different union involved...and Canadian production is continuing. I'm embarassed to say I don't know if that's the case or not. Could someone enlighten me?

I love how she explanaided the Sam/Teal'c moment, and I agree with her. They do share a love and if she knew she was gonna die there, why not eh... and like she said it was part Sam/Teal'c and part Amanda/Chris. I think it was great to see her pov on it and while I am a Sam/Jack shipper, besides other ships with Sam, I agree that it was gonna happen if you are stuck for so long with someone you really care for and have been with for so long and know that well and always have been there, they had a history going on...
but poor T he remembers it and it must be hard to see Sam now, knowing his feeling and stuff awww *hugs T*

I also think Sam will be in the next season because they just switched leadership from Weir to Carter and I don't see Weir being back... and if she was back she wouldn't get command back because they wanna make sure the nanites inside her wouldn't take over in any other way...So logical is that Sam stays in command, I mean changing the leader of Atlantis every so many times can't be good for the mood there. And they also all accepter Carter so why would they get rid of her?? and if they did who would replace her??? Sheppard, OMG then we are doomed...

IMHO.

I agree a lot with this sentiment and hope that Amanda will be back in season 5. My take is that they may be waiting to see if they can fit the Sanctuary filming in with the Atlantis filming - and maybe they can't finalise things till the Sanctuary deal is really in the bag. I hope Sam will be just as prominent if not more so in season 5.

Yes Amanda still looks great. In fact I think she is getting more attractive, alluring and captivating with each passing year. She has natural beauty - it exudes from her personality - I think she will sit nicely in front of the camera right up to coffin dodger time! I just hope it is in stuff that I will be able to see!!

I agree about the first pic. Pretty sure that's her. But I don't think that's her in the second pic. She was wearing white goggles and a knit hat in the pic that was posted earlier. So it's probably not AT, unless she changed her goggles and put on a helmet to ski.

lol I don't think there is an angry mob in this tread I think you are right we are all just speculating and giving out 2 cents worth. I think everyone is agreeing to one thing. Whatever makes AT happy we are all for. Sure some of us really want to see her in S5 and others of us are more in the wait and see not too worried about it phase, because there are other opportunities for her...

I hope to see AT in S5 as well. I do think Sanctuary is the deciding factor for Amanda and Martin Wood. They haven't been given the green light yet so it may be that AT can't do S5, because the two shows are in production at the same time.

AT sounds like she enjoyed working with the rest of the cast on Atlantis. She even said she wanted to be in s5 if they would have her... and Joe said they did, but if the scheduling doesn't allow for both shows... then it's out of her hands. There is only 24 hours in a day and there is this thing called sleep and family.

They have been waiting for the green light since late fall on Sanctuary... and it sounds like it will be any day now. Atlantis starts on the first 3 episodes in a couple of weeks. Sanctuary filmed the pilot very quickly and they may do the same with the first season (13 episodes). Which would allow AT and Martin to be apart of Atlantis in some aspect especially in the 2nd half of the season.

It may be a similar schedule as S4 Atlantis where AT works on Atlantis part of the week and Sanctuary the rest of the week. Although I think that would be very difficult because the two characters are so different. AT also has more responsibilities behind the scenes of Sanctuary too so that will take up her time as well. Whatever happens sounds like a good future

The WGA strike has very little effect on SGA because most of the writers are Canadian. There's only one of them on strike so they are able to cope with M&M and the rest of the writers. However BW and RCC I think are WGA so that will affect Stargate Universe if it gets beyond the pitch stage. Actually what SGA needs to be worried about is if SAG goes on strike in June because Joe F and Jason are (I think) SAG.

Also on the strike front, a fifth studio (Marvel) has signed an independent deal with the WGA so maybe that will drag the AMPTP back to the official negotiating table.
