I would love to see the moment when the award is announced and she goes up on stage ... she was quite taken by surprise when she won her first Leo and didn't even have a speech prepared because she thought she wouldn't win. And JR Bourne was her escort for the night because her husband was out of town.

Anyone who can help us get to see these Leo Awards moments will receive the Honorary Red Bean of Courage for going beyond the call of duty! Canadians, come forth!
I believe it was the second night (saturday) one that her award was announced. At least from what I read in the other thread here at GW

Even Gateworld hasn't posted the news yet this morning - it just happened last night, I believe, if this award was given during the Saturday Gala and not during the Friday night show.

You can Google for "Leo Awards BC Canada" and should get right into their website and then scroll down in 2005 Award Winners and you'll see her listed - no photos anywhere yet.

I'm sure something will start to pop up soon though.

Aha, AD! You answered my question then ... first night (Friday) does the more techie and behind-the-scenes awards and Saturday night belongs to the acting/performance awards. So, it will be next Saturday, June 4, that the AT award will be shown.

It was nice to see that Christine Mooney of Stargate SG1 won for costume design in Moebius 2, but MS and Tom McBeath did not win.

Atlantis took an award in tech categories. The Eye won for special effects, I believe.

Here's the scoop from the Leo Awards Website ... it looks like there was a "red carpet" entrance too ... now AT walking down a red carpet sounds terrific, doesn't it?!

LEO AWARDS 2005 Roll Out First Red Carpet and Partner with Shaw TV's Urban Rush on One-Hour Special!

May 25, 2005 VANCOUVER -- Vancouver : Attendees to the LEO AWARDS 2005 Gala Awards Ceremony will be greeted by the event's first Red Carpet. This coincides with the production of a 60-minute television special of Shaw TV¹s Urban Rush featuring the LEO AWARDS. This TV special will be hosted by the irrepressible and LEO AWARDS-winning duo of Fiona Forbes and Michael Eckford.

"We welcome the opportunity to work with Shaw TV on this exciting project," says Sonny Wong, LEO AWARDS producer. "This is another first-time initiative that will help us bring the LEO AWARDS to a wider public." Earlier this month, the first LEO AWARDS Film Festival took place that screened nominated films in a number of selected awards categories.

"The LEO AWARDS are a tremendous community event and we are pleased to support it," says Carmen Salerno, Shaw TV's Vancouver region program manager. "We invite all LEO AWARDS attendees to join Mike and Fiona on the Red Carpet and, of course, all viewers in the Lower Mainland to enjoy our show." Show times of Urban Rush's LEO AWARDS special on Cable 4 are: June 3rd * 5pm, 7pm, 11pm; June 4th * 7pm, 11pm.

I hope that Amanda took advantage of the offer and let herself be interviewed on the Red Carpet; hopefully, that will be a part of the re-broadcast.

You know, Choc, I feel the same way ... many of us here have often mentioned the fact that this actor is a hidden treasure and it's so gratifying to see her Canadian peers giving her some well-deserved honors the past few years.

Who knows? The Leos today and the Academy Awards in the future (?!) ... especially if Amanda gets some practice walking down a red carpet!

                Her future looks bright indeed.

Glad she won - she deserves it. I will also note, and hope TPTB, and the suits, do the same, that she is the only winner, except for costume, from the SG1 nominees. Let's hope TPTB recognize this and give AT, and her character, the respect deserved in S9.

                    Well said, bink!

Nothing succeeds like success and this is an actor who does not flaunt it! Let's see if Sam Carter's S9 is worthy of AT's talent!

Completely agree. And I think winning a Saturn is also fabulous because the Saturn seems to be much broader---she was competing with a number of good actors from some well-known shows for that one, and she won!

yes, let's hope so!! there is such potential for this, so let's hope TPTB get it right!

But casting Orlin as a twelve-year old may fit right in with the younger male demographic.

It seems that they had to go to a Plan B after SPF didn't sign up as they had hoped. That's a shame. I thought the actor gave a very good reading of the part and so did AT at the time. I guess the plot will be that he was punished once again and that maybe his punishment was starting all over as a child.

Scorecard: Cameron gets the sword; Carter babysits a twelve-year old. No wonder JM isn't answering questions ... No matter what they do with Orlin, there will be some Sam bashers who will then feel that she's hitting on a kid - you watch and see!

When I first heard this news, I was bit taken back as well, but then I thought that AT does so well with children (e.g., with the young Cassie) that this could be a very touching episode --the writers just have to leave out any attaction element and center more on the caring that Sam and Orlin have. This young actor seems to be well-regarded, so I am thinking that the interaction between AT and this actor could be excellent---with "poignant consequences."

If you're close to Carter, you'd better have your life insurance paid up. Her lovely smiles are like Det. Olivia Benson's 'Business Card of Death' on Special Victims Unit: if you're on the receiving end of either, you're toast, pal. Which is why Sam needs to take up cloning in her spare time. Maybe Heimdall can help.
As for the whole Martouf-as-killer-droid subplot, the S4 PTB really pulled that one out of their collective @$$. There was no foreshadowing, no motivation & no explanation after the fact. I suppose one could say, "Well, maybe the Goa'uld turned him when he was being tortured by Sokar's minions blah, blah, blah ... " Well, I dunno about you but retroactive character development seems like a fancy name for sloppiness to me. The edict came down that Martouf Must Die, so the show lost an elegant & haunting character, not to mention a fine actor with whom AT had terrific chemistry. Heck, Sam had more chemistry with poor Martouf's corpse than she did with certain stiffs who were subsequently shoved in her direction under the guise of 'love interest.' And Jacob wound up having to carry the whole Tok'ra mythos by himself.
ROTFLOL You naughty boy, you! But there's truth in them thar words!

Yes, you could argue that point well, and I thought the same: Sam and the Stargate kiddies have had some terrific and poignant scenes together ... many good episodes.

But, here lies the rub: we have history with Orlin. He is not just another young child coming to the world of Stargate ... so, within the past context of his being a love-smitten alien who chooses to take on human form because of his attraction to Sam, how do we now resolve his coming back as a younger man, a boy, and being in her life again? Do you see where I'm going with this?

It's all in the context. If the writers established a new character, not Orlin, as this young boy I would then be seeing the whole interaction with Carter as quite innocent and charming. What are they going to do? Wipe out Orlin's prior memory (and desire) of Sam? And I don't mean this in a lascivious manner ... Orlin was quite childlike and innocent in his pursuit of Sam ... he was falling in love with her. But it just seems strange to me to use that as backdrop with a child actor still portraying the original man.

Of course, we don't know what the writers are doing with this episode. So ... yes ... let's see how clever they are with the whole arc. I just know that they really wanted SPF to return to lead the charge in the big mid-season two-parter of "The Horseman" for some very good reasons - and now they've chosen to go in another direction (child) rather than hiring another adult male to replace SPF. Heck - I would have believed that a new physical appearance, but same age level, could have been part of the metamorphosis of Orlin when he was reunited with his ancient brethren.

If we want young adults returning to Stargate ... what about Cassie who, by now, is a young woman in college? We're all starving for that storyline.

Okay ... clunk ... stepping down off soapbox.
