Secondly thankyou for all the info and discussion bearing forth regarding Sanctuary. From all the info everyone has posted I'm now more optomistic that it may be something I would like to watch.

A big thanks to minigeek for the info just posted about the funding downloading and viewing info relating to the series. I just want to say I have a whole load of admiration for everyone who has put money into this project. There is no doubt about it they are taking a big financial risk.

On the topic of paying for the download - I think we should all stop expecting something for nothing. The reality is that nothing is for free and we all pay indirectly somehow for everything. Advertising that funds other enterprises is paid for via us - the eventual customer who pays for the huge advertising costs in the retail price.

I for one am really exited for the opportunity to support something directly without unwittingly supporting any other organisation. In addition, with the project being totally self funded there will be NO OUTSIDE PRESSURE directing the style and direction of the show. The people involved making the programme will be able to make their own creative decisions. That is something that we should try and support if we can, given that we suspect outside pressure is at least partly to blame for the devastating direction SG1 took in season 9.

As mini said $1.99 is a price of a coffee - well to be honest coffee over here in a cafe is probably $5 - I kid you not!! I for one will seek to purchse this series just on the basis that I want to support this type of venture. Perhaps this is the way to get the quality programmes we all want to see - by being prepared to pay for them.

As for a Samnda fund I think it a great idea. I shall Put my money where my mouth is and say that I will be prepared to sponser one UK Samandan who can't afford the download certainly for the first 20 eps!!!

I would rather do this than for someone to try and cheat the system somehow and get the episodes for free. If too many people go down that route then the programme will be pulled for lack of revenue. It sounds like individuals are risking a lots of their own cash - I hope we can all respect that and do the right thing!!

After saying all that I'm not sure how the system works and how downloading works. I too will be like Sky and hoping that I can pay for someone to download the eps onto disc and send to me via snail mail!!

As more and more info turns up for Sanctuary I'm finding that I'm getting more and more excited. I'm quite happy to pay for it so long as it isn't exorbitantly priced (which it doesn't sound like it will be), the cost of a season pass to iTunes for SG-1 sounds reasonable (which I'm using for a comparative price).


Wow, it looks like I'm going to have to push forward my plans to build a dedicated little computer on my network to play stuff on my wide screen TV (I like to watch in comfort). I've got the spare parts, I just need to sit down and plan it out and do it!!

I'm glad it will be download vs. streaming, too. I really can't wait for this series to start! I'm having trouble finding a high speed internet connection with a local access number, but I have absolutely no problem with driving to my mom's house in order to watch this show. Afterall, I drove to Mom's to watch her 7 minute interview on Urban Rush.

I think lots of people will pay for this series. It is a totally revolutionary way to experience entertainment. I hope that it is such a success that they sell seasons on DVD. DVD sales make a lot of money, and I really want this to be a successful business venture for them. The networks and production companies are watching, and this is the future of the entertainment industry. Amanda, Damian (loving him at the moment), Martin, and team deserve to make a profit.

As for a May release, that isn't really that far into the future. It looks like we (in the U.S.) will be getting Sanctuary before the final SG-1, which is really cool because that means double Amanda for a little bit.

I emailed him back and suggested they offer a "purchase on disc" option for those without high speed. I also asked about the expiration issue.

Thanks for the info. This looks promising. As for the cup of coffee price, I don't drink coffee, but I'll dip into my pizza fund for this. AT's worth it.

Ok, I noticed that I am hitting the big 4,000 and wanted to post it here. No profundity is coming to me for the occasion, but since when has that stopped me?

Thanks to everyone for the hugs and good vibes yesterday. Things are looking like they are turning around a bit. The Power of Samanda (TM) at work? You guys really are great.

Sam continues to be a great character. Whether she is in science mode, warrior mode, friend mode etc. she's someone I love "inviting into my living room."
Amanda Tapping continues to amaze. She's a talented actress and all around professional. She cares about doing her best work and taking on new challenges. I can't wait to see her latest role and I have no doubt she'll put her all into the project. But what has really turned me into a mega fan is her graciousness and generosity. There's so much room for stardom to go to your head, but AT by all accounts has her feet on the ground. She treats everyone well. She cares about her fans--as her latest chat illustrates. She is a truly generous person--one of the latest examples is her charity work at AT2. [/gush]
Ok, she's just a human being--but quite a special one.

Gosh, I have DSL and a 19" Dell flat-panel monitor ... they can really come in handy when Sanctuary arrives. I couldn't afford cable after my move, so don't have television access anyhow. I use video feeds now to update myself on the news.
