What channel is she on? I'm sure any satellite (because she works in radar and satellite telemetry) would love to have Sam as a channel.

The Samanda thread... I have had so much fun here since I joined last year! I'm gutted that I won't be able to hang out as much anymore.

Keep having fun, being supportive and loving, throwing in the odd off colour comment... all the things that make this thread special.

Oh, and PM me if you want my mailing address. Please send me postcards from around the world!

      Lots of love, Eileen

        Spoiler:

Yet another thing to add to my perfectly reasonable (not in any way exhaustive) worry list:

        Global warming.
Fate of coral reefs and the entire ocean ecosystem. (and thus the oxygen we seem to need)
        Future for my daughter.
        World war.
        Nuclear disaster.
        Spinach.
        Bird Flu.
        Apophis the A$$teroid.

Sam has to start a private sector corporation where off world tech is modified for earth good hehe.

Numbers are from the following article:http://www.livescience.com/forcesofn..._of_dying.html
Don't worry too much....Sam has 29 years to find a solution.

Hmmm, I wonder if this means we'll keep getting SG-1 movies until 2036...Poor Amanda, she's never going to get a break.

I am not worried at all then. I just hope someone stocks up on donuts, apples and jello so she can explain it all to us so my simple little mind will understand.

Besides :: whispers:: There is that stargate thing we could all gate through any ways.

              Hi

Just stopping by to say hello.

The AT chat was very interesting; I hope they are going to mix up the team dynamic in Atlantis and show Sam interacting with Teyla and Sheppard as well as McKay.

Happy Belated Birthday RoX and Strix!

              And welcome back Astro!

For those interested I have finally updated Aftershocks - the new story is New Alliances which takes place immediately after The Tok'ra.

              EDIT: Link! New Alliances

              Bye for now!

I hope they let sam interact with other people on the show other than mckay, otherwise i think it would be kinda boring, and it would interesting to see how sam and other atlantis characters interact.

Just read the new chapter of aftershocks, and i thought it was really good.

Some answers to "business" questions are answered regarding Sanctuary.

Apparently the series is privately funded (producers ended up investing in it themselves, including Amanda, and the cost is significant. It costs about as much as a cable or network series to produce given the extensive post-production. It will likely "premiere" in May, 2007, they hope to shoot for about 40 webisodes per year and the series will be pay per view after about the 4th episode to participate. Subsequent to that, the plan (appears) to be to use a more mainstream download service such as "iTunes" or something similar to distribute the pay per view and/or subscription the content. If they can put together a deal.

I posted more info in the "Sanctuary" Discussion thread for those interested.

                  Cheers,

                    1. If you could only save one DVD boxset due to a plane crash on a remote island....which season would it be?
season 1...no season 2...no season 3...no season 4...make that season 5...no..make that season 6...better yet...season 7...uhm...season 8...season 9??...nope gotta be season 10...ah heck...I'm taking them all...I'll just have to sacrifice the case of blue jelly!!

                    2. If there was a crime commited at the sgc and the CSI specialists were called in, what would they find in Sam's locker?
Hmmm...I like Eve's answer...her wedding ring...and sweet little tank top!!

                    3. If Sam were a patient of Dr. House what quote would she use to reply to him?
I like Mandy's answer for that one...actually...that's the first thing that popped into my fron when I read it...so...
"You're an idiot every day of the week...why couldn't you take just one day off"

                    4. If Sam was in an accident in Chicago and had to go to the hospital which Dr. would treat her and why?
                    Well I like Kat's answer and Michelle's answer...so Dr Carter and Abbey...both of them...coz of Sam's protien marker...tuff one!!

5.If Jordan was called in for a unexplained deathof a victim with an strange mark on his forehead how would Sam explain it?
"Alien incursion...it's classified"...and Jordan would believe it coz she'd believe anything!!

                    6. If Sam had 24 hours to find a nuclear bomb, with her partner Jack, who would defuse the bomb first?
Definitely Sam...in less than an hour too...she'd have it diffused before you could say "Wormhole physics and quantum mechanics and the effect of gravitational pull on time and space!!"

OK answer them if ya want.....it kept us amused for while anyway...
Thanks for that...lets do more...who's up for round 2??!!

Yeah. Well I was asking Damian about that in his blog also. Reality is you have to recoup the investment somehow, and hopefully profit - as much as experimental art for art sake is fun - there has to be a business model for some kind of return. We hypothesized at the studio that they'd make it a subscription based service with a pay per view option (being more expensive but easier for some individually). I wonder how they'll set that up. The thing is, purely ad revenue based services (online) are notoriously flawed and most entertainment executives already know that. My first assumption (that they didn't receive the type/amount of funding they were hoping for) seems to also be true. But my hat is way off to them for going ahead and producing it anyway. It IS a fabulous idea. I really hope it takes off and I'll try and support it any way I can.

I'll also try and support anyone here who wants to see the webisodes and cannot afford it thereafter, if there are a great many like that, perhaps we can even set up a "Samanda" fund for it. I know that I for one would be more than happy to contribute to that. If it helps anyone out.

You are a sweetheart Mini for offering that. I won't need it but a Samandan fund is a great idea if you can determine who really needs the funds from those taking advantage. Sorry for playing the devil's advocate.

It depends on how it's done for me. GIven that i can't download i'd be interested in giving someone the subscription price to download it for me and then have them send me a cd.

course, if it's streaming only with no download/save option, well i'll just have to give it a pass and see if it's ever distributed another way

what i'm thinking is....say Jane has high speed and can download. Anyone that can't, sends jane the subscription price, plus a little more for cd's and postage. Jane sets up an account for each person, pays for each sub, then downloads/burns to cd the episodes and mails them out. (Or maybe they'll do something like that for us that can't download)

then the studio gets their money, no one is freeloading, and peopel still get to see it.

Or maybe that's a topic to bring up to damian...that there are people out there that simply can't download and will there be a way for them to see it too
