PS-> Sky, I completely respect your position of moderation in this instance, which - believe it or not - is why I'm saying what I am. I undertstand where you're coming from, but I'd be less than me if I didn't voice my opinion this time.Last edited by minigeek; 15 January 2007, 05:54 PM.

It's inevitable that we discuss info from other sites. just as it's inevitable that we express our opinions on the reliability of that site. But those opinions sholdn't be the main topic.
In other words, saying 'well, you know, the last 3 stories they've written has been wrong' is one thing. debating it for 20 posts is another.
Just as saying 'the atlantis fans are having kittens' is one thing...going on and on and on about whether or not they should be having kittens is another.
Our topic needs to center around sam,not everyone else in the fandom.
What happens in the fandom is relevant in how it effects Sam. But it's not the topic
If any of this makes sense

I finally got a chance to catch up, and I'm not really going to comment on much. I loved what DH said about Amanda, and I love the idea of Amanda being aSpoiler:full bird.
Now, Amanda, if you are lurking. Do not look outside of Samanda right now! Stay here where it is nice and safe. Don't torment yourself. You will blow them away with your brilliant abilities. Like DH says, any show with Amanda is Amanda's show. Your fans can't wait to see what Sam does next!

I have another bunch of fics to reccomend. Over on LJ there was a "loose endings/forgotten beginnings" ficathon. Because of my recent health stuff, I was never able to write my fic for that ficathon. But the stories have been released and many are really good.
And many are Sam-focused. Look for the one written for me, about how Mark reacts to the stargate becoming public. (A Billion Stars) I love the Sam and Mark interaction in this story.

Also S/J shippers will like some of the stories there too. If anyone wants to post this in the ship thread, I only have time for this fly-by post tonight.

I too feel a lot of empathy for the Tori fans. Remember a year and a half ago and 'we don't know what to do with sam, we might put her on atlantis'
They're going through what we did.
I understand their feelings and it's no fun at all to be where they are. The one thing that gives me some hope...Amanda was very positive about the change. And i don't feel that it was a 'i'm gonna be in it, it'll be great' kind of positiveness. She has some idea the scope of the changes and she agrees with them and i trust her taste.

It's difficult to reconcile changes like this before they happen because there are far more rumors and what-if scenarios flying around than there are actual facts. In the absence of a direct statement from the artists affected by the change(s), fans can only guestimate what the story behind the scenes may be. Who's ideas are driving which changes, etc. I feel for Torri's fans also, and for Paul's. But as many of Amanda's fans discovered in the last two years, sometimes jumping the gun on hysterical paranoia isn't the best course of action either. When you ultimately discover that things can (and do) change in terms of screen time, scheduling and story lines. Not to mention cross-over-casting. This close to the beginning of production for the new season of Atlantis, experience (and history) dictates that a little big of 'Zen' is likely key.

I have to wonder if the whole 'don't know what to do' thing came from them exploring the Atlantis options for Sam a year and half ago, not because they actually had nfi what to do with her character?
