Spoiler:Yeah love the moment...had my issues with the ep though...but will not go into it right now...but I loved the moment where Sam hitted Ba'al...It was classic...although I don't think she would have done such a thing 3 years ago...somewhere I thought it was actually kind of strange she did it...I mean honestly I didn't see it coming...And that was probably the PTB their intentions...But I can't see Sam as being someone that just hits for fun...and honestly that is what she did IMO...I mean I thought she would have talked to Baal instead of the hitting...
And I am not saying I didn't like to see it...I just thought it was a bit OOC...But apparently I am the only one who thinks that eh...
Originally posted by Gate gal View PostWhat is really cool is that after a decade of being Sam, Amanda is still keeping her fresh. Sam is still growing and changing (even when she isn't always given the best writing). That is totally Amanda. She is still working just as hard as she was in season 1. Most people would have gotten a little lazy and let the character just stay the same. Afterall, we loved the character. We wouldn't have noticed that she hadn't continued to change, but Amanda kept improving Sam any way. And that is why Sam is such a great character!
Oh, and I totally agree with everything you just said.
And I think honestly that we would have seen the difference if Sam hasn't grew...I mean if it would have been another actress who played Sam, who wasn't devoted to it, I might not have been such a big fan of Sam...But Amanda did everything to make Sam as interesting as in the beginning...
little rant about Daniel:
Spoiler:I used to like the character of Daniel until a point where I started to find him actually boring... I mean nothing about him grew anymore...He stayed the same IMO...He could have been so much more...but he was stuck in the same thing from season4....that is why I think I was kind of glad he left for season 6 and Jonas came in cause after that Daniel became interesting again a bit...And sorry if I upset people with it but that is how I feel about it. And I am not going to say that MS isn't a good actor, it is just I don't think he was motivated anymore....And Amanda always was...

Know one messed with Janet and Teryl short in height really made her presence known, add Amanda to that and....well that picture speaks for it's self!
As for the hight...I don't think that really matters...I mean the hight doesn't matter but the self esteem and the way you look to others mean...if you are a strong women...You can be as small if you want to be...and to me Janet was that (and also Teryl) and don't forget the heals lol
And she really was a presence on the SGC and a great doc...I really think they made a terrible mistake with letting her go on holiday (hey denial isn't a river in egypt lol)
Originally posted by Gate gal View PostYeah, I loved the inteaction between Sam and Janet. While I also like the friendship between Sam and Vala, it will never be as good as Sam and Janet.
For Vala and Sam...that is something totally different...they both have another background...with Janet and Sam that was kind of the same...their characters are also so different. but that also makes it beautiful in a way. I didn't like Vala in season 9 that much...but at the end I liked their little interaction in Crusade it was subtle but it showed us that they weren't rivals or that they hated eachother. Then with season 10 you could see they started to become friends...and I do like them together now...there are little things that are really beautiful...
spoilers for the Quest2:
Spoiler:I would have loved the moment between Cam and Vala as being a Sam and Vala moment. cause honestly I thoug that moment was really strange...I mean I didn't see before that moment not really a friendship between them, not as Vala and Sam...So I couldn't see her crying in front of Cam...actually I found it strange Vala crying in public anyway but then again with all she had been through I could understand it. but I think she would have talked to Sam instead of Cam...and I think that would have been nice to see...Or maybe Sam could have walked in with a crying Vala and comforted her...that would have been more conving to me actually. Cause I can see Vala crying but just not in front of others...

Speaking of Amanda, 'Nightwalkers' is on. I love her outfit! Those pants are so awesome. Thing is, I think you have to be tall like Amanda to make it really work for ya. I like the shirt too.
Mandy and JanSam: love your little story galsplease do continue and sorry if I posted in between it...

Holy frak - I have a fic rec here and it's an *amazing* piece of work:
Palimpest, by paian. It was written for the Dark Gate Livejournal ficathon, and as the name implies its a dark fic
Rating/Warnings: Mature / Violence, moderate gore, language, mild femmeslash, character death
Category: Future!fic, AU post-ep for 'The Quest Part 1' and 'The Return Part 1'
Spoilers: Through the middle of SG-1 Season 10 and SGA Season 3 (including the hiatus cliffhangers 10x10 and 3x10); no specific spoilers for 'The Return Part 2'
Request: A memory room triggers the surfacing of symbiote memories in Sam and Vala so hard that they live them. And hate each other, and react to Teal'c and Cameron and Daniel (who is maybe fighting the shades of the Lifeboat memory download?). The team races to pacify/control the women as Daniel tries to figure out what he did and how to suppress the memories again. Qetesh should be all over everyone, manipulating everything, and Jolinar has thrown sex around more than once canonically too. The main angle I'd like to see, though, is Sam/Vala, trying to out manipulate each other. ... No victimized Sam or Vala (I want them edgy), wallpaper Teal'c (maybe he could be the one to figure out what's happened from the women's behavior?).

Anyway, I reminded him of the whole Abyss thing and the multiple deadly tortures... Face it, she's probably not proud of what she did, but she does hate the Snake Head. And it was obvious by Sam's reactions to him throughout the ep that she was trying hard to contain her mounting fury at him for the sake of the mission until he stated he wasn't helping anymore then she allowed her anger to come out... End result, he BELIEVED she would kill him ('cause she would, she hates him that much) and became motivated to assist... So I didn't think it was OOC, just a side of her character she normally keeps a tighter reign on.

Hey everyone, is there an initiation rite for newbies on this thread? Maybe I should offer up my favorite Sam episode for starters. There are a lot of great ones, but I think I'm going with "Point of View". That was the first one where she played the "dual role" and she did it so nicely that you really did believe that there were two totally different Sam Carters in the two AU's. Other good ones in this category are "Gemini" and "Moebius" but I still thing POV is the best of those. Another favorite Sam episode is "Small Victories", because she comes up with an incredibly daring plan on her own and convinces the Supreme Commander of the Asgard to go along with it. Now that is some serious brass, if you know what I mean.Shallow are the Ori!

She didn't punch him in part 1 (even though you could tell she wanted to kill him), and he baited her. I can't wait to see it!
