I agree with you. She's extremely competent and very articulate in those regards. But it's difficult to be an EP. No matter how tremendous you are, you simply cannot please everybody. Every show ever done has had fractured feelings from time to time amidst its fan following, and should Amanda's new project take off (crossed fingers for her!), that series will likewise have its trials and tribulations with fans. Fans in general tend to blame the writers, producers and networks for their woes far more often than they blame the actors (rightfully so in most all instances), but the fact remains no matter how great a series is or how great Amanda's work may be on this new endeavour, there's always going to be SOMETHING that people will find to winge about. Seems to me that is the nature of fan followings, especially online.

With Amanda in a position of authority, hopefully we won't have to fuss over issues like women in leadership (because giving the team to Cam wasn't about Sam's ability to lead at all it was all about letting the MAN be the hero) or wall papering of any cast members. I can't see Amanda not fully taking advantage of her whole cast by making sure they have juicey things to play with. She is just too much of a class act for that.

I voted for "Letters from Pegasus" - simply for Weir's bit about those lost

Also, re: RDA being in the last few eps... That's not really a possibility is it? I so wish it were, but they probably would've blabbed about that long ago, right? *maintains skepticism* I want RDA in the last episodes for no reason except that he's one of the originals, and should be there to see the show to the end. Once again, I'm supremely bitter about the fact that they wasted his time on Atlantis episodes. :: opens old wounds ::

I completely agree. Rick should definitely have been in the final episode of season ten (if he was not, that's a crying shame). I also recall someone who went to Avalon mentioning (in a post?) that RDA told them at their "coffee/tea" table he had a "Scandanavian relationship" with the producers these days (that they didn't talk much) ...... whatever that was supposed to mean. I'm not sure what the context was there, other than that the question about why he wasn't asked to do the movies yet might have arisen.

I don't bite much! Honest. Ask Spazzy... she only has like three two visible scars from AT2.......

Doh! I missed these. Why did they squish SG-1 & Atlantis together for these categories??

              F: Carter
              M: Teal'c

              Best Stargate SG-1 Costume
I've got some more to add:
              • Carter in a leather jacket (Foothold)
              • Carter in a leather coat
              • Carter in leather trousers (Nightwalkers, not The Corn Ep)
              • Carter in a white tank (Nightwalkers)
              • The black BDUs

Best Stargate SG-1/Atlantis Writer - For Jack and Sam, Brad Wright. For Daniel, Robert Cooper. For Teal'c, Chris Judge. For plot and story, Robert Cooper. For character interaction and use of artistic elements, Brad Wright.
              Leave it to you, gb.

Poor Rick! All that time spent in Vancouver away from his family making the franchise better and this is the thanks he gets...oh, what am I saying? Look how Amanda was treated.

I know we won't see eye to eye with all of Amanda's decisions as an EP either, but at least she is in tune with other actors and vocal on important issuses. Even when I don't agree with a statement she makes about Sam, I can see her reasoning behind it. I don't think she'd be afraid to take a controversial route either, and that is important. (And I'm not talking ship here.) Plus, EP doesn't mean all the authority is hers so if I don't like something I'll just blame someone else....No, seriously, she'll do a phenomenal job. This is a great move for her, and I know she'll be successful. Now, all we need is the funding!

Huh. That's interesting. But it makes a whole heckuvalot of sense, considering how TPTB acted as if Jack never existed in S9 - until, of course, it suited or suits them... I'm not a massive RDA fan, but I really enjoy his work on Stargate, and I think he's a good guy. That said, I've wondered if they merely resented the fact that it was his name and face that got a lot of what they wanted/needed accomplished. There seems to be a lot of ego to go around at Bridge Studios, and it's not just coming from the actors... I also wonder how MGM factors into all of this, considering they're the ones shelling out the cash.

As always, we'll most likely never hear the whole story, but at least the knowledge of this so-called "Scandinavian relationship" can set the level of expectations in regards to the films. If it's just ego that's keeping "The Man" from making an appearance in the films, then I'm thinking it's entirely possible that it'll be one of the many reasons why they may be eating it when it's released.

But even more so, there's a matter of trust and character integrity.

They have with almost a fervent determination dismantled all of her major character/story arcs in the last year and a half and blatantly ignore the most obvious avenue to take the character (or at least I had thought it was)...team leadership. And then they say they don't know what to do with her character.

Further, if I can't trust them to finish a story because it's controversial to some, then I why should I trust them to finish anything the start? What if the Wraith storyline were to become unpopular by a vocal sect of fandom and they moved on from it...condescendingly deigning to address the issue as a joke and then suggest that they've left it open to fan interpretation. What?!??

There are a thousand things they could have done with Sam had they bothered. Sam could have been doing a thousand different things rather than just be at Area 51 for the first few episodes of Season 9...but they didn't care.

Sam could have been a sophmore team leader with a new eager rookie that rubbed her the wrong way...but they would have had to allow her a position of authority.

They could have respected the story arc they chose to take on with the whole Pete thing...her personal emotional journey...and actually clued us into what the character decided instead of turning it into a juvenile joke...with the unknown relationships in Ripple Effect to the whole 200 thing. [Look! she called him "Sir" at the altar! *snicker*] Instead they turned her into an almost 2 dimensional automaton...or as Amanda puts it, "exposition girl."

Why should I trust them with finishing SG-1 off right or with SGA? Or any other part of the franchise should it grow?

Applause to Über! I started a reply and then decided against and I'm glad I did because you said it much better then I was going to. There was a bucket of problems introduced or ignored that grated on my last nerves but for me the back breaker was the leadership issue!!!

I agree with everything you said Über. However, the Area 51 could have worked I just think if they should have handled it differently. I'm looking at this through a fanfic idea I have, but I'm still working out some of the semantics. Bless Mandy’s poor heart she has agreed to Beta read if and when I get it finished. By they way aren’t you supposed to be sending a fic of your own my way?
                          Spoiler:
Sam’s leading 100 + scientists, that's another major leadership role that they didn't even touch on. I can completely see her giving that up to return to SG-1 as the LEADER, not co leader to an inexperienced gate rookie. Leading SG-1 in S8, goes to Area 51 to Head of R&D (commanding officer to 100+), returns to SG-1 as … co leader of SG-1

Gategal and Über I sympathize with you! I understand where you are coming from, because that's where I was last year. I’ve already come to the conclusion that tptb will not conclude the series, that I once loved as my all time favorite, with any remembrance of the long history that got the show where it is today. THe four great characters that were so carefully constructed flaws and all have been lost to what the show as become today. And they wonder why rating are down ... hmmm. Now I just read great fanfic like Sky’s and others, and maybe even attempt one of my own while I anxiously wait for news on Amanda's new show!

Wow, Frostfox! No PG thoughts in my head at the moment! I might need to look for that ribbon, but I'll have to do that later. Daughter has cheerleading tonight, and son and I have a date with the playground equipment in Chucky Cheeses. Definitely feeling better after that visual though!

Oh and to stay on topic, Amanda is just great and so are the Samandans. Have a great afternoon!
