Sam Carter/Amanda Tapping Discussion/Appreciation

How about we try a little tolerance on all sides? The shippers among us can try to focus some of our comments more on sam than on sam and jack, the non-shippers can also try to focus thier comments on sam, and all of us can have some tolerance for those times when a person's POV isn't quite in line with thier own.


I think it's amazing that Samanda has survived for over 5000 posts with no battles or discord amongst us, and I'd love for us to go 5000 more

At the end of the day, the reason we're all playing in this thread is because we all think that Sam is a great character.

and it's pretty sad that this statement even has to be mentioned on this thread, since i think we've all worked our butts off trying to be tolerant and fair minded and such from the beginning. this really is sad.

Just a few posts back, tsaxlady told us this.

So should we be surprised that they're catering to a certain demographic by costuming Vala the way they are? Unhappy, yes, but not surprised. I'm just glad that Sam is in the military, so they don't feel compelled to dress her up the same way.

BTW, when I saw the picture, I just wanted Sam to show up, and pull the sword out of the stone.

Well from the picture it looks as if it's BB who pulls the sword and seeing as the sword is suppose to be an ancient device this will also probably mean that LT. Colonel Mitchell shockingly has the ancient gene as well and will be able to use it. Why didn't I see that one coming???

I'm just letting everyone know here and now that if we suddenly find out that Cameron has the Ancient gene, on top of Daniel's new ability to access the Ancient knowledge stored in his head and Vala's ability to use Gou'ald devices, and we don't see some spectacular story arc revolve around Sam...

I'm seriously going to blow a gasket!!

ahem, yes, we all know what 'fishing' means.
It and 'cake' are some fun euphemisms that shippers enjoy using

"Going to the lake" appears to be the alternate SG-1 booty call (see Urgo). As for 'cake,' Sam & Janet were about to have some at the beginning of Rite of Passage ... plus it looked like Dominic was hoping Cassie would give him a piece of cake, too. So it was Cake Interruptus all around. (Who can forget Carter's horrified/indignant "You KISSED her?!?!?!?")

Astro also was disappointed in the costume and so was I.
Perhaps TPTB just want to welcome Vala into the bosom of Stargate ... yeah, sure ... and my friend here wants to sell you some prime real estate in the Okefenokee Swamp.

I wasn't disappointed (there's not much left for me to hope for so there's not much left to disappoint me about the show in general or where TPTB are taking it). My only thought when I saw the 2 pics of CB from Avalon was "gee, I guess everyone (includign me) who has said that TPTB, and the suits, are pandering to the lowest common denominator and that oh-so-elusive demographic they all covet, and dumbing-down and sexing-up the show were right afterall".

Well, to be honest, CB doesn't really get me excited in anyway... Nothing against the actor, shes a wonderful actor (anyone see Pitch Black?), but I don't think Vala has *anything* on Sam Carter or Doc Fraiser

I'll hold judgement on the new Doc untill I see her

I have to say that if S9 does not go well and they continue to write Carter they way they have written her the past season and a half (IMO) then I would be happy for AT if she decided to leave the show even if there is a S10 because she would not have to suffer the continued ramifications and the embarrassment of watching what was a once truly enjoyable, well done sci-fi classic go the way of the shark while TPTB and the suits pander to dumbing-down and sexing up the show for that adolescent, w-t-dream crazed demographic.
