Good morning all!
Just got an e-mail from "The Amanda Tapping Club"'s yahoo group with a link to THIS. It's a preview on the latest Cult Times. They got a special in there on SG-1 and you can read a little interview with Amanda, which is quite nice, but the usual things I think. Nice to here, that she's feeling good. The typical Amanda-like comments are in it too. So nice to read, but nothing special. But the mag is a special, i think. Who can get it should buy it...seems as it's worth the money.
Thank you SO much Amanda! (Icons by various great artists)

And whenever I hear the suggestion that if you don't like Jack/Sam ship on the show it must be because you want an alternative ship portrayed instead, I roll my eyes. That doggy just won't hunt.Last edited by scarimor; 18 October 2006, 03:14 AM.scarimor

Look at Teal'c. From his background and upbringing, he had every reason to sneer at her or call her "woman." He should have reacted to her the same way that Bra'tac did in Bloodlines. A weak female.
Instead, he honored her right from the start. He gave her his staff weapon in Children of the Gods...a sign of humility and trust. And throughout the years, this bond has grown to such wonderful levels.Spoiler:Of all of Season 9 (which I primarily thought was a piece of refuse), one of the few moments that stuck out for me was when Teal'c saw Sam was alive in Ethon. That brief moment where he looked choked up to the point of almost tearing up. The touch to the arm. Her look of reassurance and gratitude for his being there too. So few words communicated so much.
Just a great relationship that I treasure more and more as I go back and see how it's developed over the past decade.
Absolutely. And I don't record every episode of SG-1 to keep, some eps only certain scenes, but that scene in Ethos was a total keeper, so subtle and moving even though brief.
Sam and Teal'c, more so than others on the team, have some very specific points of empathy. Primarily, they have both sacrificed personal relationships for the batttle with the Go'uld, Sam a relationship with Jack and Cassie (sorry, I'm a shipper), and Teal'c, his wife and Ry'ac, and later Ishta. While TPTB don't dwell on this nearly often enough, I think for the characters this would be a huge thing and draw them together. It also highlights how similar they are as they've made very similar choices.
I also think they share a common opinion of puppy Cameron. But I've already discussed that in relation to Camelot and my vision of Sam and Teal'c kicking it back at the pub... Seriously, as a shipper with an active imagination, I like to think of Sam, Jack and Teal'c hanging out together off-screen during seasons 9 and 10, since I don't think Jack would leave T anymore than he would leave Sam. (Think about it, how many times have we seen Daniel and Cam at the SGC without Sam and Teal'c anywhere around?!)

I personally like a little romance with my sci-fi drama/action. I'd never want a soap opera, that's not my cup of tea. But a tad of romance here and there keeps it interesting for me.
Stargate has it all-it's a cop show(ok, intergalactic cop show), medical show(especially when Janet was around), comedy(admit it, sometimes this show is downright hilarious), science documentary(how much technobabble do we hear?), action show(KABOOM), drama show(I've laughed, but I've cried...I've felt for these characters like they were real people), a study of the human condition, and a romance. Every character's gotten a bit of romance through the years. It's part of being human to love, so I expect to see it to some degree on the show. I also love seeing them-not scientists or soldiers, just friends being there for each other. For me, SG is the full package-I think that's why I love it so.
