I tried to move it along to AT's "bits" (as disturbing as that was ), thinking that there'd be a whole mob of people willing to bite, but alas your bits evvidently seem very intriguing to Samandans. You should feel proud.

Just wondering if any Samandans have worked out the identity of their ficathon writer. I'm pretty sure I know who mine was now, and my guess is backed up by other readers who have agreed that Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile has their name written all over it!

i wrote two. one that i was assigned, one that i wrote as a backup

it'd be interesting to see if anyone guesses which are mine (or wait until next week and i'll be a dead giveaway since they'll go up on my site)

I'm really surprised by the quality of all the stories I've read so far. I probably shouldn't be, given the participants, but I am. There's just so much good, meaty Sam stuff... great short stories, great long stories... so much intelligent dialogue and clever plot twists. I'm impressed, particularly knowing that a few people wrote their first (or nearly first) attempts at fanfic for this. I haven't been able to pick out the newcomers from the lot. I definitely want to encourage them to write more!

The blind feedback (not knowing who the author is) means a lot, too, because I think there's an additional measure of honestly in knowing that it's coming from someone who appreciates the work, rather than the writer. The names will go up next week, so I'm trying to hit everyone with feedback before then. I don't know if I'll get everything read before then, but I'm going to try.

Yeah, I've been so busy with the new job (whee!) that I have only got though a page and a half of the stories so far. But I've left feedback on all but the last one. (Because my computer froze up-as soon as I remember the title, I will leave feedback there, too.)

Oh, I'd love to see Amanda on Dancing with the Stars or something along those lines. That would be very cool!

I'd love to see her on Celebrity Poker Showdown-it be a chance for her to showcase her funny personality.

A bit OT but while I'm here, has anyone posted yet at the new Save Stargate SG1 website? I'm asking because I had a moment to read some of the first posts there and no one brought up the opinions that many of us shared here about "lack of respect for the original cast" and the whole way the transition to S9 was handled. No one except a fan called "grammadebbie". Her post caught my attention. However, before I added my own thoughts and feelings I decided to come back here and check if my fellow Samandans are going to add their opinions at the "Save" board.

I know Astro and I have tossed this around a lot in private emails, but we both feel strongly that Stargate SG1 shouldn't and cannot be saved. If the show returns, name it correctly: SGC. It will never be SG1 again - they threw the baby out with the bath water in S9 and S10 and that contributed to the slide in ratings (in our humble opinions).

So is it valid to post these kinds of opinions at a website that is conducting a "save the show" campaign?

I still applaud "grammadebbie" for her post though. She's probably going to be a voice crying in the wilderness and totally lambasted by the fans who are quite happy about the current show and eager to maintain the new status quo.

Personally, I'm happy that AT will now be able to flex her acting muscles elsewhere. I'd love to see Amanda doing an "Indiana Jones" movie or telemovie, but I'm hoping it would be a female Indiana Jones as the starring role rather than a sidekick to another alpha male.

I went there, started to post...then decided that the folks there were gung-ho fans of S9 and S10 who probably didn't want to hear from the likes of me. I'll keep reading. If several of you have decded to post, I'll go back and give it a try. I already feel sorry for grammadebbie, whoever and wherever she is!

Well, I guess everyone decided to watch the SG1 fan favorites marathon tonight. I really enjoyed seeing the classics. Of course, as a shipper I am a very happy gal tonight. Wow, Amanda hasn't changed a bit in the past decade. Everyone else looks so much older (still great) than they did in 1969, but AT looks the same.

we could do the secret santa thing. Heck, i'll even 'run' it. set a date to submit the list of 'i want' and 'i don't want', give them about a month or month and a half to write the story then folks post it to GW fanfic.

Or they can send their stories to me and i post them anonymously to gw fanfic

now, the downside to this? I can't edit those pages so they'd have to stay anonymous or soemthing like that

unless someone is better versed on LJ than i am and wants to create a community for a ficathon

I can be the only one to know who's got who thus they'd be totally secret

well, if we had a Samanda site, we could theoretically do both

a ficathon and a graphicathon

people would have to sign up for both and we'd need two people to run them, one for fic, one for graphics

and then someone needs to have the html and site making capabiltiies to make the pages

I have no issue running the ficathon, is there someone to

have web space?
make the site?
run the graphics part?

No Threads, but I'm a shipper who actually likes Moebius (one of my faves--Geeky Sam and Daniel rock). Lost City 1 and 2 were great. I love it when Jack resigns and puts Sam in charge. Window of Oportunity was the number one fan pick.

I think they cut too much out for the 60 minute version of “Threads”. I just watch the 90 minute “Thread” I have on tape.

I got home in time to see Moebius 1 & 2! I really like those two episodes. Geeky Sam is hilarious. She really plays it up. I hope she gets the chance to do a lead in a comedy.

Sounds like a lot of great episodes on tonight!! Some of my all time favorites in fact. Well I’m off to watch 2010.
