Sam Carter/Amanda Tapping Discussion/Appreciation

LM I have to start by saying you are so funny *rolls eyes* Thor/Sam...is ..interesting and the ensuing covno even more so
Well I haven't seen that many Stargate episodes and all just randomly from all season (just discovered it this past year and that was through Atlantis)
But from what Ive seen she is an amazing Character
Strong and brillant...I love how women are portrayed in this series
On one hand she is totally beautiful, but is still a serious character.....
When I grow up I want to be Samantha Carter. LOL

Hi!! <waves harder than Mandy> you are not alone in your thoughts (except that sam/thor is hott), especially in the strong, brilliant and beautiful part. she's defiantly a breed apart from most other fictional women. i also encourage you to watch the rest of the series, IMO it was better in that respect than season 9. glad you like atlantis too.

I think it is everything you mentioned combined - having a job that challenges and excites her, doing that job well and being appreciated for it, and having the love and support of her friends.

So, the question was

What Makes Sam Carter Happy?
What Makes Her Smile?

Compiling the answers posted and adding my own, I have this so far:

- going through the 'Gate to explore new worlds
- exploring, playing with and/or inventing new technologies (doohickeys)
- astrophysics
- time spent with the people she loves and admires
- doing her job well, serving as a competent military officer
- protecting Earth
- working with people she respects and cares about
- being appreciated for her work by people that she respects and admires
- working on and/or riding her motorcycle
- playing chess with Cassie
- flying
- fulfilling her ‘need for speed’
- humor
- pointing out/discussing the plot holes in scifi movies

I know that a lot of you don't plan on buying them, but they say that every episode will have commentaries(unlike season 8) and there are several behind the scenes specials. Looking over the list of the people doing commentaries, unless I missed someone, it looks like AT is the only one of the main cast doing one, for Camelot. At least they won't all be PDL and Gary Jones doing their "comedy" routine throughout most of the epidsode.

not regulars per say, but Gary (Walter) is doing Babylon and Stronghold (which he wasn't in) and Barclay (Pendergast) is doing Ethon. might be interesting. if someone wants to transcribe them, i might read them, but i'm not buying.

I used to watch the show all the time but after Jack left it just got boring to me the only good thing is that 3 of the original characters are still there and one of my favourites are of course Sam but I'd have to say Vala is pretty funny
