Hi everybody! thanks for the photos Astro!

okay, i just finished watching 'insiders'

        Spoiler:
it was alright, but that's how i've voted for every ep so far.

maybe because i'd been told what to expect, it wasn't so bad (in what everyone was upset about).

i think sam telling baal that she'd download the stuff when he threatened a hostage (barrett) was so she'd stop him from killing him right then and there. but, i also saw that she purposely slowed down the d/ling to buy even more time (she couldn't stop baal from immediately starting the killing any other way i believe).

as for the leadership issue... keeping in mind that next weeks could cause a stroke in me...

i saw sam leading too. and that's better than cam THE leader. yeah, i'm settling, but the entire show is settling for second best now (for me).

and believe it or not, i enjoyed this ep more than last weeks. i might be one of the only ppl on this planet to not really like 'peg project'. i liked this one better (but in no way loved).

        now, for the characters:

i'm sorry to admit, but i didn't really miss daniel. (sorry daniel)

vala i'm liking more, and i loved her interaction with sam.

baal is baal. sexy, evil, sneaky.

landry was fine. i've always felt his authority.

barrett is another admirer of sam's. same old.

mitchell is acting more like an officer. i asked for this last season, so at least i can't complain when he actually starts acting like one. (still want him off MY show)

sam. i got more sam. but... i don't know how to say this, but i think that if i hadn't read what everyone said here, i wouldn't have had any probs with what she did (downloading). i didn't have a prob with it in 'gemini' either. but i found sam in character.

        now, what i didn't like:

barrett used as admirer material. sam/other, no matter if it's one-sided, is something i've had so much of that it leaks out of my brain while the ep airs. so yeah, i'm tired of the 'horny horde of wanna-be-sam's-man' scenario. like seriously, dude.

why is vala running around the sgc with control over anyone or anything?

        questions:

        was barrett really brainwashed?

was what baal had downloaded really 'that' important? i mean, weren't there a LOT of planets on that list?

did any of the baals really know where the weapon was?

were any of the baal's we saw the real one?

        scenes i liked:

numerous scenes between sam and vala. like, all of them.

vala and teal'c arm wrestling thing.

sam and mitchell banter with chevron guy there.

the end 'nudge' between sam and mitchell.

like i said, i liked this ep more than last weeks.

          Spoiler:
As for Barrett, at least Sam set him straight with the 'don't push it'.

To try and answer your questions:
I think he really was brainwashed, though being Goa'ulded would have been cooler.
He got the planet addresses that only the Ancients and the SGC had known about.
I'm not sure if any of them really knew where it was. Now they have some planets to check out though.
I think the Ba'al that walked forward on the ship at the end was the real one.

My question is...did Morgan Le Fay lie about those planets? Didn't they say they didn't find anything on the two she gave addresses for? This part is foggy in my memory.

Oh, and I liked the Sam/Vala too. Girl power!

I don't think Morgan lied...I think there was more to her answer that's key.

Oh and Anubis knew those addresses too.

Class of '87 reunion in a ep much later in S10, well after the mid-season break.
So isn't he a bit young to be Lt. Colonel too?

But snarking aside... I think Astro or Kat or someone here in the thread made a post or two explaining in detail about how it isn't/wouldn't be unusual for her to be Lt. Colonel at close to 40 years old.
I wrote something up awhile ago but I can't seem to find it. But Sam has plenty of time in service and grade for her position of Lt. Colonel. In fact she should have gotten the rank of LtC before season 8, but she won't be eligible for full Colonel for a few more years though that didn't seem to stop Mitchell from making LtC.

Ya know I think AT is a great actress and CB is too, the boys had better watch out because I see the pair of them walking away with the show regardless of the garbage they write for the characters!!

While a have a whole slew of problems with the character of Vala and her place in the series, I found I really enjoyed the AT & CB scenes. I could quite easily see a third series co starring the pair of them

Now if only the boys would give them something worthy of their talents.

<sigh> I'm still cranky about the ep but I am trying to find something positive

(his 20-year high school class reunion)
that'd put him at 37 now and 38 in '07. *looks around thread* Have we seen/heard anything else canon-wise about his age?
He said he was no more than ten years old during the first shuttle launch, which would suggest he was born around 1971, making him 35 years old. If he graduated from highschool in 1987, he would have only been 16 yrs old when he graduated.

Regarding AT and CB in S10,

                          Spoiler:
I really enjoyed their scenes in last night's ep. Admittedly, Vala's really, really growing on me right now. Without Daniel around, she bears a similar quirky sense of humor to many people who I'm friends with, so I guess I relate to that more and find it even funnier.

As for Sam's actions in the last ep,

                          Spoiler:
I think Sam would have at least pretended to comply with Ba'al to save anyone else's life, but I keep thinking if she did find a way to slow down the download, there had to be a way for her to have also either corrupted the disk or downloaded a different, hefty file. That would have been a great way to end that ep. But instead, we get some more wishy-washiness with regard to the strength and qualities of her character, or at least her behaviors are open to interpretation when I'd rather have her be a solid, strong, winner. But I'll take what I can get if the Ba'al thing comes back into play somehow with Sam being able to get back at him later in the season. Which I suppose HAS to happen sometime...

I was happy to see how she handled the Agent Barrett personal situation in this ep, though. Way to be straightforward and not wishy-washy there!

i heard some bad news the other day i hopes its not true. Are they really replacing Sam with vala? I know sam has been cutting down on the time she spends on the show. thats how it started with jack.

I know some will see her as wishy-washy, but I don't. I think she did what was best at that time. Oooober had a really great post about it. I also think that anyone else in that situation would have done the same thing.

And she sure set Barrett straight! Sam must be sick of being shipped with everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm still around. Well this ep. was ok. I didn't think it was really a stand out ep. or anything. Amanda did a great job of course, as usual.

I agree. Even if I don't always like the stories or dialogue, I have noticed that I really like the way CB is playing Vala lately, and of course I always like how Amanda plays Sam. I think the characters play well off eachother and I'm looking forward to seeing them in more scenes together. I hope they have some eps. where Sam and Vala are together for a whole ep. (like if Vala went with SG-1 and the team got seperated) and they have to figure something out. I think that would be interesting. I don't know if that is going to happen because I don't read spoilers.

Ok, I hope you are all well
