hey, here's something I keep forgetting to ask. don't the USAF use metric lengths rather than feet/miles? that "2000 feet off the blahblah" sounded odd to me.
Ha, ha. among the things that have been already mentioned, I liked
    Spoiler:
when she went to Teal'c's side when they rescued him & that she was with him in the infirmary. They seemed to be talking when they were rudely interrupted by Cam & col. Emerson(?)

Well I'm still trying to catch up on all the posts

I know many of you already commented on the new episode of s10, so I thought I'd take a stab at it

        Spoiler:
Did anyone find it odd, that on the Russian Ship they know they were going into battle but for some reason the F302 pilots were not 'at battle stations' which I believe would mean they would be in their ships But no, I guess the writers thought they were in the mess hall getting their shot of vodka before the battle So this must be how the scene went: we all saw Cam running from the bridge (must be closer to the hanger bay than the mess hall) As he got closer to the bay (with all the electical thingies popping all around him, he ran up behind the Russian Commander of the F302 pilots Lt. Col. Svetlana Cartofsky, not wanting to take orders from a woman Russian, he pulled ahead of her, pushing her back a bit, getting to the ship first and thus being the only pilot to escape

Now another thing that bothered me, like many of you stated, was why did Cam pilot the Odyssey, I mean come on when did he learn to do that! He was only known as a GREAT F302 pilot, I'm pretty sure they handle differently No wonder Sam was scared sh**less
And why on earth (or space) would Emmerson allow him to take control of his ship, he had much better ane EXPERIENCED pilots at hand

But hey, I'm not saying the writers are LAZY or anything

It was definitely painful to watch, especially the second time when they used nails. That was too graphic for my tastes.

oh no i honestly don't think (at least in this case) that
              Spoiler:
the writers are lazy, it took a hell of a lot of thought and effort to make someone so underqualified end up as such a hero. i'd say they would have worked backwards. ok, we need him to save the day, first he needs to be in a 302. now to do this he needs to get one from the hanger bay and get out before the ship is destroyed. now there's gonna be a lot of people trying to get out so it's gonna be very tense. hey! lets make one of the people he pushes past be a chick! if we have some girl on screen, they can't say we're being sexist, right?

ok, cool. so he gets off the ship and into a fighter plane. wait wait, how come nobody else gets off the ship in a 302? we need him to be the only one out there so he gets to save her.

what? oh right, well, c'mon some of them are girls, and they're all russians. if we've proven anything its that russian soldiers die a lot!

right ok. wait, wait, cameron can't save her in a 302, if he opens the canopy, he'll float out into space.

oh right, yeah, well, we'll have the odyssey pick him up. but he'll still look really heroic so it'll be fine. also, we'll have to have him injured. first of all, the battle needs to be totally over and we need to pass some time, so if he looses consciousness it'll work. also, if he rescues her when he's injured it'll make him look even better!

ok, fine. wait, we had the odyssey unable to use its beam tech in the last one, how is he gonna save her from there? ok ok, he'll open the hanger bay on it, and he'll back the ship up so it swallows her. the asgard can use the artificial gravity controls so she doesn't get hurt, it'll be fine.

cameron can fly the odyssey? is their pilot injured or something?

no. its just because he's such a good pilot that he can fly the odyssey better than the person who was hired to do it even in huge battles.

ok. so how come he's on a ground unit instead of flying in battles?

              shut up.

and thats how sam gets saved. wow. i love cameron.

see. that kind of writing requires a hell of a lot of effort. how is that lazy? lots of thought went in to it.

(warning: reading the previous spoilers may be damaging to your sanity.)

uum. just to be a tad more on topic here. i think it might have been a bit more fun (for me) if
              Spoiler:

sam had been saved by being beamed aboard a lucian alliance ship where teal'c was. might have given teal'c a bit more screen time, and it would have let have a bit more insight into them too.

of course the episode might have played out a bit differently then. it was just a thought though. not a good one. but at least i'm sort of thinking!

                              Spoiler:
Vala was going to do the saving. She's looking out the window at the end of the S9 closer, so I thought maybe she somehow sees Sam and gets her onto the Ori ship barely breathing, but then Sam is a captive & they somehow bond in their escape from the Ori toilet ship Ever since somone mentioned that, that's all I can think of when I see those ships.

On another note, I was thinking about the great AT acting scenes of s5 poll. One of the eps I picked was "Fifth Man." She has that great scene showing her contempt for Simmons--wonderful expressions. But I also think this ep showcases AT's total believability as Sam. She's competent in the firefight that opens the episode, she does a masterful job with the controlled anger at Hammond in the gateroom, she is great in her scene w/ TR, she shows Sam in alert mode when they're walking back with the newly revealed alien even though she's not the focus of the scene. No histrionics, but Sam in a variety of modes. AT simply IS Sam.
