Oh hum, I'm avoiding spoilers! How is everyone after Shore Leave? How many of you who went to Shore Leave are going to GABIT2? Is there a Samandan meet up planned?
I still have a feeling that we're all going to get together next weekend, or the weekend after next..... Still have the rest of my AT pics to resize & load to the LJ gallery (I did put up the Amanda Panda auction pix last night) and some candids to forward on (like a wonderful one of the spazmeister)..... and now I realize there's no putting off any longer the making of definite plans for GABIT now!
Dual attendees? Well.... let's see..... There's Kat (ForeverSG1), there's Sky... there's Lady Jeep, there's tsaxlady.... there's me... and I think we may have convinced another GW'er to go too....
Convention Pix Shore Leave ('06 to '09), AT2, AT3, & AT4 ('06, '08, & '09), and Vancouver ('07)

Hey Coley - Shore Leave was great. Those that went to SL that are also going to GABIT2 include, LadyJeep, Kat, ShimmeringStar, Skydiver, I'm sure I've forgotten someone (not on purpose) - oh yeah ME
I don't think any formal meet up has been planned - I know as some of us that stayed at the Courtyard in Baltimore drifted off to bed the final night there was a lot of see you in London being thrown around.
For myself due to work I will be flying in on Thursday (arriving Friday) and leaving on Monday -
Oh Spaz, in what context did Amanda say she wasn't perfect?
Hmmm... I could totally be wrong, but I think it was when she told the story of The Blue Bra(tm).
The story was, quite frankly, pretty dang funny in person. Like, I've read the story before, but it pales in comparison to the way she explained it (as most of the stories do).
For those who've never heard it before, here's the Reader's Digest version:
She basically talked about how in GUP they originally had her in some wet suit get-up, but it kept getting big bubbles in it, which made her look decidedly unsexy... However, they were in another facility away from Bridge (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong), and they were in a bind. Insert The Blue Bra(tm) from her closet (one she grabbed as quietly as possible, in an effort to not wake the baby that morning, and it just happened to be clean - if that's not a "human" anecdote, I don't know what is!).
In retrospect, she says, the incident was very humbling, because she really doesn't like the way she looked in that particular scene. She said the same, "You're a new mother!" thing, and might've mentioned her breasts ("I never used to be all about my breasts, I promise!" she cried at one point). She used varying forms of "humble" a few times, and if I'm not mistaken, that's when she said, "I'm not perfect. And that's cool."
Beat.
"... Well... I'm pretty perfect."
It was cute, and the crux of what she was saying (comedic beat aside) really hits home with me, and reminds me of why I admire her so much.
My natural inclination is for very small groups, so CG, her daughter, 1speed and I hung around together most of the time at GABIT1. We picked up with Forever and Dips occasionally. Afterwards I felt I missed out a little on spending more time with all the people who post here, so I hope I can make up for it at GABIT2!!
i'm going to gabit 2 and avalon and i'd LOVE to have a samanda meet up
There's not much in the way of out of the hotel local venues to choose from. Forever, did you find anything close by which would be suitable? The hotel lobby was very public and open, so it would be nice to go somewhere else. Even if it is just for a cuppa and natter!!

My sister lives fairly close, from what I understand Maybe we can drop in!
Disclaimer: My sister and I really don't get on, and she'd probably take a kitchen knife to anyone who called in on her. Hence the reason I'm staying at the hotel.

Thanks for the story Spaz, yes she is the adorable girl next door isn't she. Her humour was the thing that struck me most at GABIT (it was like listening to a stand up pro) and next her very down to earth style.
Jack finally get what he always wanted, command of the Ceta site (Beta site now belongs to the bugs) Ceta site is situated inside that naquadah asteroid from ... that ep with the naquadah asteroid.... They set up a base somewhat smaller than the base at Cheyenne mtn. They have stargates brought over from the Pegasus galaxy that have a whole new dialing system unlike the MW gates. The Asteroid base has a gate, and so do key ships in Sam's fleet. SGC - or StarGate Ceta, is Earth's - and possibly the galaxy's - last hope against the Ori onslaught.
Jack O'Neill is the base commander and Sam is his 2IC as well as fleet commander of the small but growing armada of Earth and alien vessels. By being 2IC overall, she gets to have adventures both on and off her ships, see.
Her main cast crew could include Tok'Ra, Asgard maybe someone escaped from the Lucian Alliance or any of a number of guest aliens we've seen over the years in SG-1.
Just an idea for a jumping off point. Feel free to disregard all of the above in favor of something better and more workable. The concept is kind of exciting! I'd love to hear other ideas.

A Cherokee elder sitting with his grandchildren told them,
"In every life there is a terrible fight – a fight between two wolves.
One is evil: he is fear, anger, envy, greed, arrogance, self-pity,
resentment, and deceit. The other is good: joy, serenity, humility,
confidence, generosity, truth, gentleness, and compassion."
A child asked, "Grandfather, which wolf will win?"
The elder looked the child in the eye. "The one you feed."
