I think we'll all see her someday but it has to be Amanda's time and Amanda's rules because it's her job to protect her daughter from unwanted attention and it's OUR job as her fans to respect her wishes.

I know she was at Gabit last year because there were times when she had to leave to attend to Olivia and while I never saw Amanda with Olivia myself at Shore Leave, I know several people who did see them together.

Personally, I find the interest with Amanda's daughter a bit frightening. I know everyone is interested to know what she looks like and to see her for themselves, but speaking as a mother, I hope most of Amanda's fans keep their distance and let them have their family time when they are together. I can somewhat understand people gawking over Amanda, but her family should be off-limits, especially a child as young as Olivia. I doubt she truly understands why so many people are interested in her mother or her, but that's just my opinion.
I agree Kat - I think people were good at Shore Leave about giving Amanda space when she and Alan were out with Olivia. I saw them when they checked into the hotel on Friday night and again Sunday. Neither time did I see anyone bothering them or have a camera out taking pictures.

You can see how much Amanda is enjoying being a mother - everytime anyone got near her with a baby it seemed Amanda had the kid in her arms. Beside the child she picked up during the Q & A on Sunday I saw her with children three different times in the autograph lines.

EVERY con? Wow. Lucky you! I'm barely making it to the one next year. They sound so fun, so I can definitely see why you'd go, given the chance.

The interest in Olivia is just curiosity...I for one am not at all interested in making a deal of it...it was simply a question as to what the little one looks like and it's quite harmless. I myself am a mother of two absolutley gorgeous kids and I too would do everything in my power to protect them and if I was in Amanda's shoes..I would do exactly the same thing. I read that she was at a con and Alan had bought Olivia out and all those who were there were asked to not take photo's.
Please don't think that all of us who ask about Olivia are frightening!!! I certainly do not want to intrude on Amanda's private life..it was simply a querie...a very innocent one at that. Sorry if you see it differently.

OK, being more serious.... I had a great time and you all soooooo know that, but what I was so Squeeee happy to find out is that Samanda or not, Shipper or not, Corin Thunkers or not, we all have something in common... and believe me, there were people that I knew by name and never thought we had anything in common and now..... here we are, thanks to our love for this show I'm in SL groupie withdrawl.... so thanks for SG-1 for bringing us together.... (well, there is also the I'm as crazy as you because I can't believe I'm in a scifi con meeting my online friends thing... )

              Love... Carolina......
              Awww! ((((LOL4JACK))))

It's so good to know that I'm not the only one who's feeling a little odd not crawling out of bed at the Courtyard after a night of nutty festivities. Mystery Stargate Theater and the highjacking of the Marriott lobbies are soooo worth the trip.

I must second Carolina's sentiments. It's amazing to see the things we all had in common in some regard, whether it was thunking, shipping or just general Sam/Amanda Love... Though it's probably for the best that we crazies gave poor Baltimore a rest, the "withdrawal" is a bit like a dull twinge, hehe. Addictive, those cons are, eh?

For those who don't already know, LOL4JACK was easily the ballsiest GW attendee there (she, sacme and veryangrystargate fan, I'd say). That woman knows what she wants, and I believe she's willing to go toe-to-toe with The Woman herself over a certain gray-haired general in Washington.

This week - a little thing I like to call, the real world - should be a nice opportunity to detox before F&B.

                Oh, about the Olivia interest...

Personally, I don't want to see her all that bad, because I kinda figured she'd be cute, and that's pretty much been confirmed by those who've happened to see her. I have a pet peeve about invading celebrity's lives with such an interest in their children, so I'd hate to think that people are overstepping their boundaries.

Though I didn't hear of any incidents, so it looks like people were respectful and behaved themselves this weekend, even with all of "public" moments that transpired. That's a good sign. People could've been much more fervent with their attempts to see her.

It all just seems like the general insane curiosity that people have with celebrity's children. Sometimes it's innocent; sometimes not so much. I just hope SG/Sam/Amanda fans remember to keep their distance and their cameras far, far, far away if they ever see her in public.

Okay before I head off to bed how about another quick story from Shore Leave

Amanda said several times over the weekend what a cool job she has and how she gets to do some pretty neat things - like wearing the space suit in Camelot and again in "Fleash and Blood" - they are on loan from NASA for filming and they have a NASA technician that flies up to Vancouver to help them get into the suites for filming. She told the story about how the last ne they used was really to small for her - she is so tall and the suit was made for someone shorter so she said she had to squeeze into the suit. But she was all smiles as she talked about it saying "How cool is it to wear a real space suit"

I think it is a good thing amanda is doing. I mean it is the best thing to do is to keep work and her personal life apart. I mean I think I am one of the few who really don't want to see Olivia and that has nothing to do because of the fact that that don't interest me it is just because I like AT as an actress and for what she stands for and her private life is from her one. We (the fans) have nothing to do with that. I mean let her have her privacy. Let her be just herself, I think her life is already wild enough. With the acting, Olivia, cons,...
And that she doesn't have to fight for the privacy of her daughter. Just respect the fact that she has a daughter and that is all we need to know. I mean we are happy for her and we don't have to see her I find. Cause that hasn't nothing to do with the fans. That is her life.
And if she one day wants to share her daughter with the fans that is good for her but I am not waiting for it. Cause I find privacy something that is really important. And I think she disurves that, that we as fans don't ask for it.
just let her decide if she wants it.

I totally agree! I also happen to think that that rule aplies not just to celebrities' kids but also to the celebrities themselves.

When I was about 6 years old I was a huge fan of the boy band 'Take That' and my fave member was Mark Owen (why oh why I'll never know!) Anyway, one day my mum brought me his autograph on the back of a lottery ticket and she told me this horrific story of how her friend saw him in her brother's music shop one day so she went over to him to ask for his autograph for me because she knew that I liked him. However, she wasn't exactly discreet about it and so he ended up being recognised by tons of people in the shop and they all mobbed the poor guy, so much so that he had to be taken out of the back entrance of the shop! He was only there to buy a few CDs! So, yeah, my point is that, however well-intentioned my mum's friend may have been, I think that she made a very bad call.

From that day I vowed that I would NEVER approach a celebrity in public if they we just going about their own business and I never have even though I've seen quite a few famous people in and around Manchester. I just end up with horrific mental pictures of the poor man being surrounded by fans and I think that celebrities have to deal with enough of that without me making it happen any more. That's just my personal opinion anyway.

*Edited* I have to admit though, at GABIT when I saw Amanda moving from the autograph room to the the Q&A room, I shot off so fast from the sofa in the hotel lobby that my gran didn't even see me leave! I was careful not to get in Amanda's way or get too close though coz I figure 130 lbs of over-excited student could be perceived as quite scary rushing towards the room you're about to go into lol! I swear I was hyper for the whole weekend (It was my first proper convention where I actually spoke to people from GW.)

Hi, Carolina: I agree with you wholeheartedly. I think the ideals of the show generally appeal to a certain type of person, and those are ideals that are unifying and inspiring to us all.

I think you and Sally just hit the nail on the head. Pete's not an alpha male, not at all. I mean aside from the "stalker" issues, he's was a really nice guy, sweet, pliable, easy going, but not at all the type that Sam usually goes for. Maybe that was the attraction. When she decided to take charge of her personal life and make the break with Jack, she went for the polar opposite of what she normally went for.

*desperately trying to make Pete make sense here*

But I agree, I could have bought the storyline better with BB or a BB type. Someone similar to her past interests, but available to settle down with.

yeah, seven was cool, but not the focus every frelling week. and if it wasn't her it was the doctor.

focus too much on a single character/actor, you become solely dependant on that actor's fans...which usually kills a show cause no actor has enough of a draw to carry an ensemble show on his/her own. if they did, they wouldn't be IN an ensemble show
