Unfortunately, that's what happens when a show goes on this long. I love the show, and I am so glad we are getting a season 10! But.....

but, to keep a show going....taking law and order for example, you need to have thigns changing. law and order changes actors sometimes on a yearly basis and dick wolf seems to keep good track of what story they've told and, if he comes up with another similar one, put a new twist on it to keep it fresh adn different.

What we have here is an ever DECREASING pool of talent. the actors are the producers are the directors thus there doesn't seem to be anyone that looks at stuff with a critical eye and say 'dude, that's lame'

there's no 'quality control' so they just keep cranking out the template shows over and over and over and don't seem to notice or even care that they are ripping themselves off.

If one or two folks do it, then it's not that bad, but when it's done over and over and over.....well i don't go into the thunk threads for a reason, too many pictures and they take too long and i dont' have the patience to wait for them

Right now, with SG1, not only do we have OTT characters, we have really bad storytelling, so there's nowhere to go but up I think (or I hope at least)

these actors are a very talented bunch. give them something to work with and they'll do great. give them shallow crud????? and they'll just do a normal human reaction, settle back, phone it in and why worry??? obviously no one else on the crew cares so why should they?????

I think that they're turning their backs on some of it. I mean, they're obviously stealing plots from earlier episodes, they just don't care about any previous characters or the backstories. Why go for substance and quality when you can blow stuff up?

NOt only that... ok they stories do look alike than the first episodes we got but also some things were never explained to us... they left us with open endings and as mush as I liked that in X-files (that was really nice, it fitted there) but in Stargate I do not like that.
I mean Cassie is the perfect example for what I am talking about... where is she? what happened to her? where does she live know? is she going to college? ... I mean she is an important role in Sam's life so... why did we not get to see that? In season 8 we get Sam's whole personal life with Pete and everything but nothing about Cassie. They really could have write that in. I mean we did get a lot of the story arc about her love life so why not about Cassie??

Nah I won't shoot you but I have to disagree

I honestly don't think TPTB think they "damaged" Sam's character and therefore they have nothing to fix. My theory is they took the focus off Sam & the original team because their new unqualified "hero" just doesn't measure up to them (I will not rant about Mitchell I will not rant about Mitchell I will not rant about Mitchell ).

Classic Sam in Arthur's Mantle and The Four Horsemen - umm did we watch the same show? It's funny how people can see the same thing so differently. What I saw was

In Arthur's Mantle they had everyone BUT Sam do the technical stuff - she was just there and in The Four Horsemen, well, can we spell "babysitter"?

S9 was not good for Sam and I hope S10 will be better but I'm not holding my breath.

BTW do we have a smilie for holding your breath? I seem to be using that expression a lot lately.

She really was just a thing... I mean she is just the one who can fix everything with her science nothing more nothing less. That is what I get from those episodes.
and about that babysitting: isn't she doing that the whole time? in every ep. she is saving Mitchell from getting killed.
He really is such a tourist... he thinks that he is on holliday with his friends, except they aren't his friends (ok this is ranting, sorry)

Hey fellow Samandans!!! Been voting heaps but went off to watch Avalon pt1...loved it immensley!!! And Sam was in it too...she's great! I can't wait for next week to see pt2. I am so gonna love this season...I hope!! Please don't tell me that it gets worse...I need to see it for myself...thanks!!!
Now I can't wait to see season 10 already...dang...got a whole year to wait...DoH!

i do agree with that. it seems that, unless sam fits the 'girlfriend' cliche, the writers don't know what to do with her. they dont' seem to know or be able to think up something to do with her character that isn't tied to someone else. (ie a man)

if she's not the girlfriend, what is she??? oh, we don't have time to figure that out, let's just give her some exposition and have her support someone

after all, that's what women do right????????

Well it is great that someone liked Avalon part 1... I am not one of them I think. and no it is not because Sam is in it... It is just everything that bothers me about it. The changes that has been made with the Characters... I mean they really could have done a better job in it. Ok the cast changed but if they did it gently the change no one would have ranted about it.
