Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis were nominated for Best Syndicated/Cable TV Show.

Ben Browder was nominated for Best Lead Actor.

Claudia Black was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

Sadly Stargate went home empty handed and from what I have read the show didn't even bother to nominate anyone for the Leos. So unless they manage to do something spectacular at the Gemini awards this year, it looks as if 2006's Season 9 will be the first time in the history of the show where they didn't win an award of any kind. Which is kind of strange seeing as this was the best season evah!

It is ironic isn't it that a show that was supposedly in trouble that they HAD to bring in a new leading man, and several other new characters, and completely gut all of the dynmics that made it great for 8 years may get shut-out in legitimate awards (I do not consider the spacey's legit as I think I read that people can vote as often as they want if they register -- it is nothingt but a popularity contest and whoever has the most rabid fans, with too much time on their hands, wins). After 8 years of garnering Leos and Geminis, awards given by their peers, and consistently increasing their ratings they give us what TPRTS pimp as the bestest season "evah" and they get zip PLUS, and just for good measure, for the first time in nine years their ratings fall - heck they could not even keep the same number of viewers from eps 1 and 2 through to the season finale and for a show that TPRTS say needed help the ratings in S8 were a heck of a lot better than S9. Sad, very sad indeed.

Hmm, not really...

Gotta agree with AD here. There's criticism, even abject distsaste or disdain, parody, etc., and then there's just plain kiddy-cruel. If it's something that would be really offensive were it directed towards (Carter) then it's not any better directed at any other character. Just seemed in poor taste, I'm afraid. To me, anyway. And I surely ain't in the pro Vala camp. So that's sayin' something.

i tend to agree with you, mg. it runs along the lines of the type of think TPTB have given us this season. and i certainly don't want to encourage that. then again, i didn't really like the samy macgyver one either. so maybe i am just a stick in the mud.
