No one has commented on Jack's diploma hanging on his wall ... I noticed that it states that he is awarded the degree or certificate for "academic excellence in military science and engineering" ... so he could tinker with motorcycles too and help Sam MacGyver more stuff on the ships and around base.

The engineering part is what caught my eye.

The Academic Excellence caught my eye, as well as the engineering part. Why does he play dumb? Silly boy!

The animated gif came from one of Forever's posts - and it seemed fitting for the topic of whether or not Sam was a pilot. Of course, I always interpreted it that Carter was a pilot, so I was bummed when folks were pointing out that she wasn't wearing wings on her dress uniform. But the best part of the discussion was when someone else (Uber?) pointed out that Jack didn't wear wings either. At any rate, I love the comments about what must have been done to the AF advisor. LOL!

          -----------

          ---------

          Different topic:

          What *SHOULD* have happened:

‘Ready to go, Carter?’ Jack asked.

          ‘Ready, sir.’

‘I want you kids to check-in in twenty-four hours.’ Jack noted.

‘Yes, sir.’ Carter clipped her P90 to her vest and rested her hands on it.

Daniel grabbed Mitchell’s vest and pulled him back. ‘You might want to stand back a bit more.’

Mitchell looked at Daniel and opened his mouth to say something when Walter announced the seventh chevron lock and the wormhole activated. The blue backwash had Mitchell staggering back a little.

          ‘Woah.’

          ‘Told you.’ Daniel said smugly.

‘They warned us in training but they never told us it would be like that.’ Mitchell said his voice filled with wonderment.

Carter smiled and looked over at Jack. ‘With your permission, sir.’

          Jack nodded. ‘Have fun.’

Teal’c bowed his head and walked swiftly up the ramp and into the wormhole. Daniel followed after him. Mitchell halted at the top of the ramp and Sam stopped next to him.

‘This isn’t going to hurt is it?’ Mitchell checked sticking his gun into the event horizon and making a lazy circle.

‘Not as much as it used to.’

‘Not as much as it used to?’ Mitchell turned his head to look at her. ‘What kind of answer is tha…’ She pushed him through and followed after him.

This last scene would have been so *smartly* done if it had been an actual scene in Season 9! It has humor - and symmetry that ties back to the first episode of the entire series. It allows Carter to play the seasoned, experienced role, and allows Mitchell to be the new guy. It would have paid homage to the series' roots and would have also set the stage for embarking on a new set of adventures.

          What a missed opportunity!!!!

-the preceding scene is from the end of Chapter 12 of the fanfic 'A Pond With No Fish' by Rachel500. It's an S/J AU WIP.

I think all of Season Nine could be described as a missed opportunity.

This is the best I could do on short notice. My apologies to Green Lantern fans - green tights and purple cape was hard to find!! Had to go back to the 40's for that ensemble

                      Spoiler:

Sadly, Felger got stuck in the VR machine and we got the Season 9 that was, instead.

Yeah, I am one of those that always thought Jack was smarter then he let on. Glad to see proof of it.

Like someone else said I would love to see Sam's awards and accomplishments, although I think she would be too humble to hang them up at work. However, Ithink as hard as she worked they would be hanging on a wall somewhere. Take a look at her office at home to see if there are any awards on the walls.

Based on "Prodigy", there might not be enough space in her lab for them.

I'd be interested in seeing how Sam is viewed in the scientific community outside the Air Force, if she ever published anything - like the book on wormhole physics in "Upgrades".

In Watergate, didn't the lady(can't think of her name) know of her? Did she only know of her through Maybourne, since he leaked all that info? At any rate, they'd read each other's works and thought highly of each other.

I always thought she was keeping that book for when the Stargate Program went public. To let the scientific community know that her theory has been proven… for oh about 9 years now.
