I'd really like to believe that they know it's the last season and that they're planning accordingly and that there's some really great stuff coming to wrap things up. But I'm just not there yet. And I don't think they are either.

Brad Wright can talk about the business model and how tenuous things are with salaries and what not, but the fact is that if SG-1 wasn't still in the black the show would have been canned long ago. The show's been busting that model he's taking about for the past three or four seasons, and each year someone somewhere ponies up for another go around. So long as it's generally accepted at the top that another season of SG-1 means more profit than whatever endeavors are going to follow, then the show is gonna go on. It would take a wholesale collapse of the cast for it to go otherwise.

But I do hope this is the last year for SG-1. And I do hope that TPTB already know it. It would be good for the show, which is long since ripe for whatever that next SG-1 endeavor turns out to be. Personally, I'm torn between a movie (which would be awesome) and a miniseries (more hours of SG-1). If they wanted to do a series of TV movies, I'd take that too. I think all four of the original cast still want to make stargate, but they'd all appreciate something less demanding than the nine month grind they do now.

I'm positive about 10 too for similar reasons.

One thing though I won't be sad at all if 10 is it, in fact I'm kinda hoping for it. I'd rather see SG-1 end on a high with some shreds of it's former glory in tact, than to die a slow and agonizing death due to dropping ratings. I'd rather see them go out on their terms than to be escorted to the door.

Plus there's that whole apparent inability to run the show the way it was for 8 years without RDA & Gecko, at the same standard of writing quality... yep, I suspect we're gonna get some good stuff out of 10 and I hope they leave it there, unless something of the old philosophy is reintroduced and Carter, Daniel, Teal'c & Jack become the focus again.

They had their chance to sell me on the "new" SG-1 and they failed with cliches, shallow flashy visuals, insults and sexist smack in the face, so for me it's all or nothin baby!

I think now that proverbial "wall" at the end of the tunnel is visible, the writing team may actually step up to the plate and write some worthy character stuff for the team, including Sam - especially Sam. Brad has always seemed more sensitive to that character than many of the other writers in general (except perhaps Mallozzi), and with Brad back in the saddle (so to speak) again, it can't help but bode for a more positive Sam Carter outlook next year. I'm keeping all my fingers and toes crossed, at least. So I'm finding it difficult to even be upset that the series may be coming to a close, because quite frankly, the resulting character moments we might just get because of it have the potential to make me a very happy Sam Carter fan. Indeed.

Ah ... very true! So let's say they have say six or seven MOH hidden away in a box somewhere ... does that mean they get to choose any command they want? Because I have to tell you I don't think Jack's wish would be stationed in Washington. I also don't think Sam would choose to apparently giving up command of SG-1 to head the R&D at area 51 only to give that up to be 2IC on SG-1 again. hmmmm I think they changed more in "Moebius" then the fish in JAck's cabin. Maybe they are stuck in an alternate reality where Geeky Daniel and Sam lived before.

Okay that's enough snarky comments from me for one night.

jack i could see getting one for the head sucker but the others...no, i just see your average medal of valor for the kids

Using the slip-shod, fictional, made-up criteria for making a contrived excuse to award it to their round-hole-square-peg "hewo" that TPRTS used to give it to mitchell than I agree with Ann_SGC Fan and Jack and Sam should have been awarded the MoH numerous times.

Using the factual, real-life criteria on which the awarding of the medal is actually based I'm not sure anyone at the SGC should be awarded the MoH.

I agree the MOH is the highest honor bestowed on a service man or woman for his/her actions, and not to be given out lightly. I don't think Jack or Sam in the real world would have been given that many MOH, but I'm using tptb criteria not the real world.

I think in the real world if our characters were real they would have each earned the MOH. Jack for the "head sucker" and Sam for coming up with the brilliant idea of riding the asteroid through Earth.

i still think that she's gonna be the new teal'c, and be there to serve the purpose of off world/ alien expert, but i'm hoping for some good sam (and other characters) interaction too.
I think that's the only way I can handle the Vala character, if there are some good interactions with Sam. Vala is amusing in small doses, but I didn't agree with her becoming a main character. However, it could lead to some good moments with Sam helping her out or explaining things to her. Maybe something where she is frustrated with Vala, but trying to keep her patience. I can see something like that. We'll see what TPTB have planned.

Teal'c should certainly not be overshadowed by Vala, but I do agree that he isn't really the "alien" anymore. He knows about Earth culture and how things work. Now there's a new person who is going to have to learn about all this (though I have a feeling she won't have much trouble ).

I so hope Sam has some leader moments in seas. 10! I still don't think she's gotten a chance to truly show her ability in that respect. Not that she hasn't shown her leadership skills of course, but we have gotten to see much of her really leading SG-1.

I'm out of it (sick), so I can't think of anything specific, but I know Jack and Sam have done enough to win the MOH at least once
