You know it's funny...I just realised how much of a Sam/Jack shipper I am!
I like to read all sorts of fic, and have done, but I only really enjoy Sam/Jack fic. I must admit I prefer it when I get a bit of Sam whumpage, and then a lot of angst...followed by some S/J romance! Maybe this ties in with the fact I love romantic/comedy type films.
I'm sorry for being kind of off-topic here, but I just want to mention that it's because of Sam (and the chemistry I see in her relationship with Jack) that adds to my fun of watching Stargate.
Hey, girl ... I like your formula too: Sam + whumpage + angst + drama + action/adventure + ship = generally speaking, a pretty good read! But I do like it the best when Sam shows how capable she is and not waits to be rescued ... sometimes the stories make her a little too dependent on (cough) a significant other!
AstroG does have quite a respectable list of really good and well written fanfic.

Oh I so agree. I love the Sam whumpage, but as you say, it's so much better when she is kicking some baddies a$$, and is the one saving the guys. I hate it when she's the "girl in distress"! Once she's beaten the baddies, got hurt, a bit of angst, some flirting, some more angst...then my nice happy (shippy) ending, well, I am in heaven!
Here we tell Samantha's tale
Hopping down the Stargate trail
Hippity hopping
S9 is on its way
Who knows where our Sam will land
What spaceship will she command?
Taking charge
Is what we want to see
SG1 can do its thing
New guy coming in the Spring
Lots of changes
Carter's not around
Let the writers have their fun
Teal'c and Danny on the run
General Jack's
Moving out and on
Holy Hannah
What a mess
What happens now
Is anyone's guess
Just make sure our Sam prevails
Comes back strong amidst travail
Reunites with SG1
Ready for action and some fun
Fearless Carter at the helm
Back in place in Stargate realm
Will she find her evil twin?
What will end, what will begin?
She knows how to shoot a gun
Better yet, blow up a sun
Hippity hoppin'
Sam is on her way
Missin' Jack a little bit
Buys herself a fishin' kit
Hippity hoppin'
Down to O'Neill's pond
Maybe Jack will see her there
Doesn't matter she's prepared
For the one big fish
That almost got away
Throws her line and reels him in
What a fight and what a grin
Happy endings
Always make us smile
So there's my tale of
Sunny Sam
Hoppin' down to Stargate land
Tried to rhyme it best I could
Sing along, I wish you would
Getting late, I have to pack
Will miss you all 'til I get back ...
Hippity hoppin'
Happy Easter Day!
Jester
Mighty Applause for Jester!
The preceding SGC Easter poem was just read over the SGC PA system...
...note the smiles...even Teal'c can't smother his smile!... Daniel's even clapping!
That was great fun! Thanks for posting it!
Well I managed to get a internet connection even out here in the middle of nowhere! Woo me! Pathetic I know.
I was so thoroughly entertained by the Easter poem that I found myself writing one as well. Unfortunately I'm not as talented of a writer, so you'll have to forgive me. Also, I'm seriously afraid I'm going to offend someone with it so I'm going to put it into spoiler's. Please please please do not read this if you are easily offended. The Lord's Prayer has been swimming in my head for the past few days and all of a sudden these words came into my mind as I was reading through the last few pages of comments.

A Stargate Prayer
Spoiler:
Our writers, who art in Vancouver, ambiguous be thy name. The Stargate spun thy will was done on camera as it was on paper. Give us this day our glorious Sam. And forgive her of past transgressions As we forgive those who decry against her And lead her not into oblivion, But deliver her to SG1. For she is their leader with the power, and the knowledge, for ever and ever. Amen.
Kat - This is absolutely wonderful!
My hat's off to both you and Chopingal for your literary talents!
You both deserve one of the highest SaGC awards... 5 Blue Jellos!
....
Carter: Scarecrow...this is Dorothy. Do you copy? Over. O'Neill: Cute Carter...real cute. Carter: Sir? O'Neill: Are you feeling ok? Carter: Yes sir, why do you ask? O'Neill: The fact that we're less than an arm's length away might have something to do with it. Carter: Sorry sir. *sly grin*. I was just testing out my mic. O'Neill: Well by all means...carry on, Dorothy. Carter: Thank you, sir...Scarecrow. *big smile*

LOL Kat - great caption! You got the episode right, too! Great job! And here I thought I'd found a cool, yet real challenging photo... folks can't even use her hair to figure out the season -not with that hat pulled down over it!
Here's the thing to consider here... 2010 - no, not the year, the episode.
We saw our team in 2010 with Jack and his handsome sexy scruffiness (whoops, sorry - I got distracted there for a moment ) and we saw Sam married to the ambassador, Teal'c as a free Jaffa and of course Daniel and Janet. But then they realized they screwed up 10 years ago by introducing the world to the Aschen - so they changed history and forever altered what timeline they would exist in.
So, here's the question - is the team at the END of 2010 - who got the message from the future - is that OUR team? Well, yes of course they are. Just because we saw what they DID in the future to change things doesn't alter the fact that at the end, it was our Sam (who never had a chance with that poor politician...) and the rest.
And why am I using 2010 to explain that this is our team? Because one of the writers of Moebius, Joe Mallozzi, said to consider 2010 to answer to that question.
Wonderful! I think it's that stupid spoilers for s8's moebius 2
Spoiler:
fish in Jack's pond that's throwing everyone off. It gives the impression that things 'are' a bit off. I'm glad Joe came on to set things straight, but he shouldn't have had to. But I like your (and Joe's) analogy thinger.
Hmm, you all have very interesting things to say on this.
Spoiler:
I still think that the reality they end up in at the end is slightly different, and not just in the fact that they no longer have to go back for the zpm. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is no 'one' timeline... we are jumping in and out of fractionally different realities all the time... and there is a reality for everything, there is a reality somewhere where janet isn't dead, though you're right, it probably isn't this one. All I really meant was that if there are 'tiny' differences, then there could be other differences. I was never really saying that it didn't end with a 'real' SG1, only that it isn't the same reality as the one at the beginning of moebius1. It's interesting to hear what Jo Malozzi intended with it though. Thanks all for giving me something to think about and ponder...
I was talking to some shippers about this last night on the S/J list. I'm just going to c/p part of it instead of trying to remember what I'd said.
Spoiler:
(edit)
Some might say that things aren't 'exactly' the same,
and that the timeline 'was' screwed up because Sam and
Jack weren't sitting exactly the same way together on
the pier, or because their dialog was slightly
different, or the fish situation, but... the only time
things 'did' divert was when they never had to go back
to get the zpm. again.
I'll admit I was bothered by the fish situation, but
Joe told us (in his q and a thread here) that
Jack just didn't know he had any. (crappy fisher or he
needed the right 'bait' to get them to come out and
play? ). He just truly believed he didn't have any
in his pond. Anyhoo, i was worried for a bit, but Joe
set us straight.
Anyways, I think things are a bit off on the second
'Sam and Jack fishing scene', because things 'did'
change after Daniel would have gotten the phone call
about Catherine's death that set the whole ball
rolling. It (the discoverly about the zpm in ancient Egypt)
didn't happen this time, so things were a bit different from 'then'
on. If we were given the chance to live a day over again, knowing
that we were still going to go to the book store to pick up a gift,
and make the friday-favorite chicken dinner, would we
still wear the same outfit or do everything exactly at
the same moment we'd done it before? All I'm saying is
it's the chaos factor. A simple thing like Sam
brushing her teeth ten seconds later could cause her
whole day to be off from the original airing of that
day... Am i making any sense? (I 'really' don't know
what the hayhoo i'm talking about )
