You know what I think one of the most touching moments of this last season was? And really, there were only a couple to start with.

It was that moment in Ethon. Teal'c sees Sam survived and felt relief wash over him. He was so moved that he reaches out and touches her arm. His eyes are glazed with unshed tears. He tells her he's happy to see her and she smiles softly.

THAT is SG-1. Those moments. Those character beats. Those magical seconds where no special effects were required.

    No Asgard beams.

No big honkin' ships in a super duper space battle.

No fantastical magic Oooober weapon that they need to find to save the day.

Just two people who know each other inside and out...flaws and all...who deeply love each other unconditionally and without boundaries. Just two friends...each of whom would gladly sacrifice himself or herself to save the other.

No longwinded speeches about how they're family.

Just a look, a touch and a smile.

Can I have that back please?
I'm not able to green you yet, much as I want to.

You are absolutely right. For me, Stargate: SG-1 was never about the stargate - though it was really cool, don't get me wrong - it was about SG-1, four very different people who came together first as a team and then as family, who quite literally went to Hell and back together.

The bond they shared was truly beautiful and it is something that I missed during Season Nine.

Chain Reaction hasn't come on here yet. It is on Shades of Grey, but I'm not watching it because I don't like that ep Oh well...

I do not believe that they could fathom that the fans are not happy and that a lot of people are not invested in and do not care about mitchell and vala. The "caring about each other" bit was a total joke - that was almost nonexistent in S9. Personally the only reason(s) I am still even watching the current season on tape from a friend is because of the BIG 3 and that's it - loyalty to them but if S10 doesn't improve that loyalty will not hold me.

I also found it interesting that once again Brad Wright was front and center in the Vancouver Sun article - where in the world is cooper (I hope they finally locked him in the closet where he belongs and that all this Brad Wright stepping more to the forefront of SG1 articles and interviews, as opposed to SGA, is a good sign and a sign of cooper's lesser involvement as SG1 showrunner (or better named run-show-into-ground runner).
I think the most poignant scene of S9 showing how they cared for each other
        Spoiler:
were those very few seconds when Teal'c was relieved to see Sam was alive, he couldn't let go of her. Words weren't needed between them, their expressions said it all

Darren has posted a couple of new articles in the past hour. One is on Dr. Lee. The other is a GW article about an article that appeared in Saturday's Vancouver Sun. One quote out of Darren's article:

But the exciting news is that a Stargate movie is still in the works. Wright and his writing team have written a screenplay for a feature film, which he hopes will be produced in the near future.

          Squeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

The rest of the article discusses Stargate's secrets to success. You can read it here:

From what I can recall that was about the only scene that even came close to showing the old dynamic between the original cast members (also the scene with Sam and Daniel in the lab in that one ep acting kind of goofy when they both ended up in the other dimension was a small glimpse to some of the old dynamic) - the stuff that helped make the show great for 8 years. Most of the time it felt flat and like they were just people who worked together (and not even TOGETHER in that sense of the word) - nothing special, no special bonds that we saw for so many years - it was jarring actually after having them (Sam, Daniel and Teal'c) so close for so many years and after having it such a big part of who they were and what the show was - it felt hollow and empty most of the time (not to be too negative but I felt it most when mitchell was around so obviously I had that empty hollow feeling A LOT in S9) and that is why MS' bit was such a joke for me.

(Geez I really need to get a life right now.) There are a LOT of examples here to help make the point - who's watching this show?? Seems like they are targeting a little bit of everyone EXCEPT that elusive demographic. (Maybe I'll watch the commercials Friday (I won't be watching the repeat of, I think this one is CD but not sure as I cannot really tell which is which from S9 since I don't really care), if I am around, to see if they skew differently.) Sorry , not coming around too much because as you can see still bitter and still negative but just wanted to share the commercial stuff - not that anyone else is as hard-up as me for something to find interesting these days.)
Interesting indeed. I was noticing earlier in the season that the Friday night first run eps would have action movie commericials, fast food commercials, video game commercials, car commercials, game/video hand-held commercials, sports channels commericials, and two or three antacid, detergent - or was it denture cleaner - commericials. It was very much as if they expected the audience to consist of stereotypical young males and a very small sprinkling of people with concerns and interests beyond those stereotypical very young males.

Maybe Carter need to endorse a line of hand-held gaming devices, or SUV's...

Jack: "Oh, com'on - you can spare one game prototype, Carter."

Sam: "Nope. We're not at the test to destruction stage yet, sir."

Hey guys. We were discussing in another thread, when Sam might reach full bird colonel (as she'll apparently be eligible this next year)

It got me to thinking ... I know this might be a silly shipper thing to say but ... I always thought it'd be so poignant and so awesome if Jack had pinned his own silver oak leaves on Sam. But maybe he could use his own bird when she takes full bird. Not that they'd show us that - I just thought it'd be such a great, emotive moment. Because I think Sam has always admired and respected Jack so much, it would mean such a huge amount to her to have him give her his own jewlery.

Hey - any fic author want to write a short scene/story around that? I'll take Lt Col, or ficticious full bird (future) Col ...

It could be written so many ways. If you don't buy into the ship, it'd just make a really powerful friendship moment. If you DO buy into the ship, well then I (personally) would wonder how much it'd mean from that angle, too.

                      *sigh* I'm all nostalgic tonight.

yes, someone go write that fanfic! and so whoever does doesn't get flamed for skrewing this up on my account, if she's promoted after 2 years, it's called "below-the-zone" (means she's special). but, shhh, TPTB don't listen to it anyway, so don't worry. and its all complicated with line numbers DOR and stuff. in short, if you get flamed, bake a cake and ignore them.
