I just wanted to hark back to Sky's question from a few (dozen?) pages ago on the whole what woudl you change about an ep thing. I've been thinking about that and remembered a fic I have half.. ok sorta close to half done.
I never understood how not joining the SG program gave us a ridiculously dork Sam... I mean.. seriously.. I'm pretty sure she didn't inheret the love of bikes, lock picking and other nefariously kick ass and cool habits simply by joining the Air Force... lol.. although I loved what Amanda did with Geek!Carter I never bought into her ending up like that.. if you know what I mean.
So if given the chance I would take Moebius and have Sam as someone who had never joined the military and never went to college instead. In my fic the setup is that Jacob died not long after her mother, so Sam's hatred of the military and subsequent flounderings through the foster care system left her quite delinquent. Although a mathmatic and scientific genius still, she dropped outta college, hooked up with a biker gang and is secretly the world's most wanted cyber criminal. Stealing funds, redirecting government resources to aid those in need.. that kinda thing.
When we pick her up she's over her biker gang days and owns a small mechanic workshop in the desert somewhere... Jack & Major Davis come to fetch her because of the tape and they find a woman who is street smart, intellectually smart but unrefined, tough as nails, emotionally wounded and guarded and gives Jack the snark as good if not better than he dishes out..... just to quote from the fic...
"She's a livewire General" Jack said with a smirk from behind her. Turning, her eyes narrowed in irritation.
"And you Colonel, are an a**hole."
You know I really need to finish that damn fic... I just fell in love with my Rebel!Sam concept all over again.. lol.. scuse me for a bit
Since there's so much talk of babies and childbirth and names etc...
I'd like to interrupt and announce the birth of my nephew Elijah Roland House...born TODAY at 12:02PM CST (they're in Minnesota) and he weighed in at 8 lbs. 8.4 oz.
I should have a picture or 20 by tonight. This will be their sixth baby (well seventh if you consider the one she miscarried):
Emily
Erika
Evalyn
Ethan
Elaine (the one she miscarried)
Ezra
Elijah
Yes...my brother is obsessive...or can't you tell?
CONGRATS Uber! I always wanted a large family, but it wasn't meant to be. I have only one niece, Lauren. It must be fantastic to be the Auntie to such a large number of kiddies. Hope the new addition is healthy and I wish you and your family the best. Looking forward to one or 20 pictures.
On fighting:
Farrah: "A swordsman does not fear death, if he dies with honor."
Dr. Who: "Then he's an idiot."

Yeah...with his 6 and my sister's 5 + 3 (5 are hers and 3 are her husband Richard's). You know this could explain why I am very happy in my role as an aunt and at this point have absolutely no interest in becoming a mom. As an aunt, I can see them, play with them, fill them up with sweets and send them packing back to their moms and dads.
But then, I'm not married yet either...it's possible my priorities will change when I meet Mr. Right.

Guys, I was just chatting to Sammo and talking about Tim Houghton's, and she was surprised that I knew what they were. I was telling her about the Corin Nemec donut story from one of the season six commentaries. They talk about Corin's mum sending Krispy Kremes, then go on to talk about Tim Houghton's being better or something. Can anyone remember what episode it is?
Hey, Tsaxlady actually introduced me to Tim Horton's this past weekend. I'm normally not big on doughnuts, but I have to admit they are pretty tasty. I think I like their bagels and cream cheese the best though.
You know almost everytime I read your id, I start singing ,Skkkyyyyyy Pilot! Remember that one?
OK, I'm giving away my age, but I DO remember Sky Pilot......Skyyyy Pilot, how high can you fly? Maybe t'is time to refrain from posting any further this evening. It was not one of my better days.....take care all. Looking forward to the "overnight posts".
I'm surprised that Sam was able to move after spending at least several days being pumped full of Heaven knows what kind of drugs, likely being subjected to invasive tests and coming with a few seconds of being killed.
Even if adrenaline allowed her to take part in the hunt for Conrad, she would have crashed shortly afterwards.
i remember when 'desperate measures' first aired, i was disappointed in how much time jack was given in the story. yes, he was the main person on the hunt for her, but it was *sam* that was going through he||.
that ending scene (where jack stopped the meanie doctors for murdering her) shouldn't have had sam getting up and recovering so quickly. and sam should have at least been in the adjacent bed of jack's in the infirmary, *recovering* from her tramatic ordeal.
but i still love 'desperate measures' and have it on tape.
I make no promises but I'm hoping to have time tonight to sit down and write up my report and post my 6 pics (while I love my digital camera for close up shots...sitting in row P at the con...it sucks! ) I took at the con (one is of Amanda at the autograph session). When I have it done, I'll post a link to my blog (where it's going to go) and then you can quit buggin' people. <hugs to spaz>
Yeah this whole sitting at the back of the room during one of Amanda's Q&A's is for the birds. I think I'm gonna have to be much bolder at Shore Leave. I'll have to start practicing how to be more stealth-like so I can ease my way up to the front and get some better photos. I've got to be closer this year at Gabit. I mean there was only one row behind me last year. So the odds are in my favor, right?
