That scenario could have been fascinating. How would Sam cope with having accidentally caused the deaths of the inhabitants of a whole planet?

It would certainly shake her up a lot and I could see her becoming almost obsessed with refining the dialling program to make sure nothing like that happened again.

If McKay threw it in her face in '48 Hours', though, I would want somebody to punch him.

I'd make Jacob stay alive. Sam needs Dad and Stargate needs Dad too. Jacob has fabulous interactions with every single character on Stargate. Killing him off was a waste, especially for Sam.
I'd change the end of Desperate Measures - It always bothered me that Jack handed Sam a gun and sent her out to look for the missing gould, whenhe had know idea what she'd gone through, we know she'd been drugged to the gills for most of the 4 or 5 days she'd been theresoooooo Anyway I would have had Sam be the one who encountered the gould and was shot - how Jack, Daniel, Tealc and Janet woud react could have been a couple of episodes, a scene here or there...

Heroes pt. 2 would be the other - I would have had Sam use the healing devise on Janet, to stabalize her... I just miss Janet and loved the friendship she and Sam shared...

and i'd say she'd change the ending of affinity, but i'd change the whole episode
It's cool that she wants something detrimental like that to have been on Sam's shoulders. For one thing, I'm sure it would've been a nice element to play: Guilt. She certainly got that in Gemini, and a couple of others, but no one died, right? That would've been interesting.

Plus, she's always saying that the character is fallible, which is cool. We would've been able to see the bitter and harsh consequence of her simply being human.

Vancouver was my first con so I was a little overwhelmed. Sunday brunch *cough* pre-dawn meal *cough* was at 7:45 am. As Amanda, J.R. Bourne, and Cliff Simon entered the room; the excitement started. My table was one of the last to be visited by all the stars. When Amanda walked up to the empty chair at our table, (note to future con attendees: if your table doesn't have an empty chair, go get one, and then place it next to you. ) she said, "they told me not to sit down, but whatever." She sat down, and asked how we were doing. She wanted to know where each of us was from. After telling her where I was from, she asked if we had met before. I told her "no" that this was my first convention. She did not want to let go of the idea that we had met before and informed me that I had a twin. I told her that I have heard that I have a twin, but I don't know her. Anyway, she would not leave the table until she had greeted each of the guests at the table. She is wonderful!

Later at the photo op, Amanda again asked if I was sure we hadn't met. (Ok, I'm starting to wonder if she is stalking me. ) I assured her we hadn't, and she called me her doppleganger. (I didn't know what that was until I looked it up ) At the autograph table, I had her sign my poster of Shippertown. Before she signed it, she read the history paragraph and laughed at "Shipper Rehab". After signing it, she shook my hand! WOW!! I then said, "Now, we've met!"

Just as a side note to speak to Amanda's generosity: Amanda was pressed for time during the autograph session because she needed to get home to Olivia. She was trying to leave at 4pm, but she stayed until each person got her autograph. I am blown away by her kindness to her fans.

            That's my close encounter!
Wow great post! Thanks for sharing...and haven't we met before

Hmmmm. Wasn't that during the "Super Sam" era? That would have been brilliant, because at the time she didn't seem fallible at all, Sam could do no wrong.
              Yepp, it's blank down here.

i put mobius in because its a really great team ep.

i put grace in because its so important for sams character.

i put beneath the surface in because its really interesting to see that even when they don't know who they are, they are still the same people more or less.

                and so on..

I'm sorry, but I personally can't believe that is the case here. Amanda directed the episode Resurrection in Season 7. Not only did she direct the episode, which earned her a nomination for Best Director, but she also acted in the episode as well AND she was pregnant at the time. So I guess if what you say about Cooper is true, then one could say that women truly are the stronger of the two sexes.

She was pregnant during resurrection. It was just after filming that episode that she had one of her two miscarriages. It was the really sad ending to a fantastic episode.

Ah, the miscarriage... right. That really was terrible to have had such a great success and then then such a tragedy.
