Great post ChopinGaland so eloquently put. Maybe now is the time to put the hard feelings behind us (all) and go back to having fun and showing our respect for everyone. We may disagree at times, but then what family doesn't have it's disagreements. As long as we are able to ger past it and get back to having fun.

I look forward to more battles like we had between Sky and Sunkrux over Teal'c. It may have been OT but it was fun and had me laughing

Just remember Hic Comitas Regit as much as respect each other.

this is an interesting pic with sam and hathor. hathor has always used sex as a weapon. (sound familiar).

so, here's a question (doesn't need spoilers). what if, in season 10, vala makes a pass at sam. vala uses sex as a weapon, so how do you think sam would handle it? and i'm not talking how *you* want it to go (like mr AD liking that stuff ), but how you think sam would deal with it *in character*?

not only give the set up, but with dialog. i won't give mine because i want to read others ideas without influencing anyone elses.

I laughed at miniaturization" but is Lee becoming too comic? I liked that he and Sam are on a first name basis, though. I liked the way Sam really hit Cam that last time & the look on her face--like enough already! LOL. Also loved that grin you mentioned & I thought of the same thing re: Ryac's wedding. I was hoping for more Sam & Daniel, but at least they felt more like their old selves together. Also the gate tech scene really pointed out how much Sam's figuring things out quickly is usually taken for granted. She catches things so quickly compared to others. Yay Sam!

my fave part of 'arthur's mantle' was -

sam and mitchell nudging each other. especially the last hit sam gave, which was 'one more hit, cammy, and i'm taking you down!'

my other fave moment was when sam was trying to influence the techs. amanda did wonderful in that scene, which had a vibe to it that i haven't seen in quite a while. in fact, i really don't remember the last time i've seen sam this... funny?

i also greatly enjoyed sam and daniel's interactions together. sam and daniel are the constants of the show this season. while we're dealing with all these new characters and new circumstances, it's sam and daniel that have this easy going groove of 'been there, done that, but i'm still grooving here so don't freak out when i don't freak out'.

i do agree about being disapointed in mitchell not showing sadness for the sodan being wiped out. i blame that on the direction, though, not mitchell.

here's a what-if i'd like to throw at you guys...


spoilers for s8's 'threads'

what if the writers decided to bring back jacob or selmac. if they were *only* going to bring back one, which one would you choose?

let's say that after jacob/selmac passed away, the tok'ra brought his body back to their base. they were able to either save jacob's body or selmac. if i had to choose, there's interesting scenarios for both *characters* surviving.

let's say jacob survives, without selmac's influence. would his relationship with sam go back to a rocky road? would he be happy going back to being a normal man again? would he want another symbiote? i think he'd be happy to be alive, actually, but i could imagine selmac's influence of calming jacob might be a difficult adjustment.

if just selmac survived and was given another host body... i think sam would have a LOT of probs. like resenting the new host out of loyalty to her dad.

so, which scenario would you rather have happen? how would either impact sam?

A few thoughts on Arthur's Mantle

I have to say I agree with a lot of what's already been said.
We have seen episodes with Scientist Sam, Soldier Sam, Smart Sam, even Super Smart Soldier Sam, but this episode I loved Snarky Sam

I loved the scenes at the gate room, we actually see Sam losing her temper or is it just the frustration getting to her. After 8 years of keeping her cool, it's nice to see how she reacts to this situation. The punching scenes were so funny, but AT's expressions were just as funny as the actual punching. I loved the Sam/Daniel moments, they were right on the money, those two actually reminded me of two siblings
Cam was bearable, and I did actually enjoy seeing Sam hit him a little harder.

I just read a wonderful fanfic "Broken Word" from Annerb. It's one chapter and the story is complete. It can be found on fanfiction.net. It's a J/S story. It's not a fluffy piece at all, plenty of angst.

Funny you should mention that, because that was actually my dream scenario for season nine. There was that brief interim before Threads aired but spoilers for season nine were leaking out, and I came up with how I would have played the whole SGC transition.

For me, Selmak would have died, but not Jacob. There would have been wonderful angst over Jacob's reintegration into our society, etc. But I also would have had Jacob take over as the new general at the SGC. His Tok'ra experiences would be invaluable, and since they were going for Daddy Issues with the new general anyway, I figured why not use the stuff you've already got. I think it would have played better than Lam/Landry, and I think it would have been a nice turn for Jacob's character. His relationship with the team was forged so nicely over the years, it only seemed fitting.

Alas, it was not to be. And we lost a great recurring charcter to boot.

Sam steps out of the shower and wraps a towel around herself then heads to the locker area, where Vala is seated.

"Vala." Sam says acknowledging her presence then starts to dry herself off.

“Wow Sam, I never knew you were in such good shape under that uniform you wear all the time. You are quite lovely I must say.” Vala says as she stands up and moves closer to Sam leaning her arm against the locker.

Sam takes a gulp then takes a few steps away and quickly continues to get dressed. “Ah, I thought you had a thing for Daniel?” She says a little nervously.

“Well, at that time I did; but now is a different time and place.” Vala says seductively, now leaning with her back against the locker as she continues to watch Sam get dressed.

“Well, um…thanks for the compliment, but I am kind of involved with someone else right now. He’s actually sort of my soul mate.”

“Attached are you? That’s a pity, I’m sure we could have had all sorts of fun together.” Vala said watching Sam squirm a little.

“Yes, attached…um, sorry.” Sam said a little embarrassed, hoping Vala would get the hint.

“Oh well you can’t blame a girl for trying. Ah do you happen to know where I can find Daniel?”

I would rather have Jacob back, since Selmac died inside of Jacob, he would still have her memories, just like Sam has Jolinar's. I don't think Jacob would go back to being like he was before Selmac because of the influence of Selmac changed Jacob. I could still see Jacob remaining with the Tok'ra as their liason, since he would still have the memories and probably still support the Tok'ra cause.

sg1, landry, and vala are in the briefingroom. everyone leaves, leaving sam and vala alone. sam starts to get up from the table when vala starts a conversation.

vala: so, colonel carter... can i call you sam?

*sam glances up and nods*

vala: so, do you find daniel attractive?

*cocks a brow* sam: attractive, as in sexually attractive?

*vala nods*

sam: no. i know he's an attractive man, but daniel and i aren't like that together.

vala: okay. then do you find teal'c attractive?

sam: why are you asking me these questions?

vala: how about mitchell? he's very interesting...

sam: vala, i'm not sexually attracted to any of these men. they're my *friends*. *pauses* okay?

*sam finishes gathering her notes and begins to leave the table.*

vala: do you find *me* sexually attractive?

*sam stops in her tracks. she glances to vala*

sam: no, vala, i don't.

*vala grins*

sam: and i don't think you're attacted to me either.

*vala raises a questioning brow*

*sam walks toward the door but suddenly stops and looks back at vala*

sam: was your symbiote male or female?

vala: what difference does that make? and besides, symbiotes are non-gendered.

sam: well, if you were used to the influence of a male perspective, like your symbiote had been in a male body before taking over--

vala: what bloody difference does that make!?

sam: and i think you just like using sex to control and dominate the men around you. must be hard to deal with me then, vala, seeing as i'm not vulnerable to your machinations.

*vala rolls her eyes*

*sam opens the door*

sam: you know, vala, you and i have a lot more in common than you realize.

vala: and how's that? we're both forced to wear boring outfits?

sam: that we've both been taken over by goaulds, and that we've both survived our encounters and have left-over memories and abilities.

*vala stares boringly at sam*

*sam shrugs*

sam: hey, no problem, vala. *starts to walk out door* too bad, though, because i wouldn't have minded having someone to talk to about jolinar, and her--

vala: what did you say?

sam: what?

vala: did you say jolinar?

sam: yes.

vala: how the hell do you know that name?

sam:... because that's the symbiote i had.

*vala blanches*

sam: vala?

vala: jolinar saved my life...
