I'm an INFJ, and I would type him as an INFP...
Sam, I would type as an INTJ.
Vala, incidentally, is Sam's exact opposite, an ESFP.
And if you're curious as to what I'm talking about you can go here or here.
As for the SG one well drum roll...........................................

Originally posted by ForeverSg1It's cool. Obviously I am in the minority with my opinion of this subject matter. Perhaps part of my issues lie in the fact that a year ago, we were all discussing how proud we were of this thread because it was truly a safe haven. A place where Amanda could come and pop in from time if she wanted and not deal with all the negative comments she might find on other forums, threads, ect. We even invited her come read the thread if I remember correctly.
And just a few months ago we saw in a Gateworld interview that Amanda has actually taken the time to peruse the forum and she mentioned that some of the things she read was a bit upsetting.
So I ask myself, is an actress who is regularly on the recieving end of a good deal of trashing really going to enjoy reading this thread if she knew other characters on the show were being trashed. Ok, so we aren't actually bashing the actor, but if you ask me, I don't see how we are being any different than the so-called Sam haters on Sony? These are people that Amanda works with every day. Would you really be so eager to vocalizing your discontent with the show if you knew Amanda was reading this thread? I just know for me personally, if I only had a few minutes to chat with her, I sure as hell wouldn't waste my time complaining about all the things I hate about the other characters or how I believe the writers are destroying the show. I would be thanking her for all the wonderful moments she has given me, which I really thought was the whole reason of this thread...to express how we thought Sam was a great character.
If you are happy with the direction this thread is going, then by all means feel free to continue. I do not wish to put an even bigger damper on everyone's mood. I apologize if I made anyone feel as if the thread has become a warzone, that was not my intention. But I must admit that the thread has become much darker since season nine began and the comments about other characters( such as Vala and Mitchell ) tend to get nastier as time goes on.
Just something to think about,
Kat
I know we may not intend it to be, but it is VERY close to being like a fill-in-the-blank ranter, when we're bashing other characters in an attempt to boost our favorite.
No matter how legitimate our statements and those against the direction of other characters may be, there comes a point where we really can take it too far. I had my snark off in the episode thread, I admit. And I have to say that I KNOW I took it too far. It's how I feel, though. But I know that I, personally, don't think I'll so publicly and staunchly dismiss characters as much I have - especially not on this thread. That's what IMs and PMs are for, right?
I haven't been on very often lately, because of school and life (never thought I had one until now), but I have noticed a change in tone in this thread, this forum, and indeed the entire fandom. It's a tone that's been spiraling quickly out of control for the past several months. Very disturbing. This has always been a safe haven for me, even when there was an issue of how much negativity the thread could handle. And I'm still of the belief that people should speak their minds and their opinions, as long as it's not at the expense of other fans or the real life entities behind the show.
Lame Trolls, otoh, are absolute fair game... in my opinion.
Still, no matter what happens, I don't wanna even BEGIN the descent to the same level of *other* fans - either personally, or as a group. Once we've reached that dark place, we might as well say, "Adios!" because that will be the absolute end of Hic Comitas Regit.

Originally posted by Skydiveri think...yes the tone of the thread has changed...but the tone of the whole forum has changed as well. we have a lot of new folks here who have brought their own pov's into the mix.
i know it's not as much fun as it used to be...then again we have a lot of folks that have joined us that are having the time of thier lives.
I'm sorry that some folks have left and it'd be great if they came back. however, i don't recall ever seeing - in this thread - or hearing of anyone receiving a pm or e-mail telling them to bugger off for having one opinion or another. I've never heard anyone going 'only those that love s9 are welcome to post here'
I'm sorry that folks don't feel welcome...but, to the best of my knowledge, no one has run them off. they've chosen to leave of thier own free will.
If they truly felt unwelcome then i'm not sure what can be done. we, as the thread, have no control over someone's feelings other than our own.
over the course of the past, way too many years, people have joined and left the fandom as a whole. and this thread is just like that. People come and go
Chopingal: deepspace, little Page, you want everyone to feel welcomed. I do too. But I can't control another person's interpretation of and perception of each post. And I wouldn't want to. All I can do is try to put into words my own opinion about what I'm seeing, what makes me stand up and applaud and what makes me stand up and say ouch! And each time I post I take a risk ... will my fellow Samandans relate to what I have to say or tell me I'm far out in left field? So I think all of us are quite brave for coming here and actually taking a stand or two about the show in general and Sam Carter in particular.
I can't make people stay. I wouldn't want to make them stay if it were only making them unhappy. But it's not just the people who are gone. I've read posts by people who still post here saying how unwelcome they feel because they can't post whatever they want.
And yes, everyone should be allowed to have their opinions. How others interpret it is how others interpret it.
But it seems that everyone also has different opinions on what others should be allowed to say.
Maybe mini has the right idea, everyone just post whatever they want, and not feel limited in what they say about characters (except when it comes to bashing actors or real people).
But I really don't know.

The infirmary scene may have helped Sam see Rodney in a different light, and probably gave her some empathy toward him. But was that really enough to overcome all of the above and make her really like him?
I don't know. I know she didn't deny it when he, for want of a better term, accused her of liking him. I've always seen Sam as someone who is pretty forgiving. But that's different from really liking him, really seeing him as someone you might want to have as a friend. I think it would take more effort on McKay's part to really get her there. But that could just be me projecting, too.

Atlantis beat SG-1 in the first showing... Does anyone think that shows AT has ratings power? Or is it wishful thinking on my part? SG-1fanintn?
