Thanks.
He did a good job in that ep and deserves any praise he can get... especially considering the bashing he takes in his blog.Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"

AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.

Originally posted by Tracy JaneFirstly, we're getting a little lax on our SPOILER TAGS again. Just a friendly nudge.
Secondly, I woke up this morning feeling decidedly optimistic. This episode doesn't show Sam in a bad light at all.Spoiler:The Sam/Martouf almost kiss was a result of Jolinar
The only thing that vaguely worries me is that she didn't seem to care whenSpoiler:the AU team came through and said Selmac's alive and well.Spoiler:Sam is still getting use to General Landry. Landry doesn't know what Sam went through. He didn't know Jacob/Selmak. He doesn't have the history that Jack and Gen. hammond had. Sam is trying to be the perfect solider and prove herself all over again with a new general. In my mind this is another one of those cases where personal feelings are buried behind military protocol.

Come to think of it, you're right about PDL. Maybe that's why he was so off on his reading of the script: because he hasn't directed SG1 for a while and was just reading what was on the page.Yepp, it's blank down here.

ok, I FINALLY got to see Ripple Effect. My verdict? IT ROCKED
Spoiler:First off - Amanda was brilliant. Totally. She kick arse in this episode. Sam was brilliant. This was definitely the Sam episode I've been waiting for
What I liked about this was that there was finally some references to past episodes, something that has been lacking so far this season. A matter of time, red sky, heroes etc etc - it was fun to see those references.
Scientist!Sam working to solve the problem was great. 15 Carter's working to solve the same problem was better than greatAnd I literally rofl'ed when I saw all the cups of Blue Jello on the bench in that scene
I see there is a bit of disentment at certain scenes involving Martouf. I personally didnt mind that at all (in fact, it reminded of the Han/Leia scene in The Empire Strikes Back where Threepio interrupts them). And as for the numerous references to who Sam was with, I saw that as making a bit of fun out of the whole thing. And of course we all have our own intereptations of who they were alluding at
Not enough Sam/Jan scenes for my liking ('maternity leave'... I'm sure they have IVF in Janet's reality...). However I really liked the scenes with Janet, Daniel and Teal'c. But the rest of the episode was so good I'll let it pass and make up for the Sam/Jan lack with fanfic
The new Asgard was a bit weird. But the look that passed between him and Walter was priceless
I was really enjoying Mitchell/Browder this ep too. I feel that BB is getting comfortable with the show and its showing in Mitchell. And the 'no pants' scene was rather amusing
And did I mention that Sam/Amanda rocked?Haha, she was totally brilliant in this ep.
Mitchell: Finally someone that can keep up with you?
Sam: Yep.
Gold. I loved it. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I'm still excited. And I need sleep.

you know, i did really enjoy the episode. it was a lot of fun, and quite frankly, the first decent episode this whole season. yeah, cam was a bit OTT at moments, and there wasn't near enough janet interaction with anyone, but all things considered, this was a goodie.
sam was back and 'in charge' and i love that
Spoiler:i do think the writers are totally spineless for keeping things so uncommitted. dude, it's an AU person, live a little. name names for cryin out loud
i'm really looking forward to next week's as well. some great teal'c action...and i think some team potential

Hehehehehe.Yepp, it's blank down here.

I think it was the best episode of the season too.Spoiler:We got some real team interaction & they seemed comfortable with each other. Techno Sam rocked. She's back! Loved the 15? Sams in the one scene. Went back and watched it again to catch the distinctiveness in each Sam. Great job AT. Loved the Daniel/Teal'c/Janet scene but wish they hadn't cut the Cassie reference. At least they realized she would have asked. Only negatives: The almost kiss btw Sam and Martouf. Not as a S/J shipper (as you know) but I just didn't think Sam was that romantic about him. Then again the Jolinar case several of you have made makes some sense. We needed more w/ Sam and Janet! But the closing scene was good. I almost teared up. AT's look when she sees Janet come in really conveyed their friendship I thought. Great exchange w/ Teal'c & Janet. This is one I'll want to watch again. First time I've said that about an episode this season.

What irked me was that it was so out of place.Spoiler:Sam and Martouf were never a romantic couple, even though at that time I liked the idea of her with him (I enjoyed the complexities of her and her feelings with Jolinar's and Martouf and Lantash's all kind of jumbling together). But they never went there. Ever. They were just friends even though she had Jolinar's memories of her feelings for him and Martouf/Lantash loved her back...they stayed just friends until she killed him. They never kissed back then but now she almost kisses him?
It just seemed...odd. If they HAD had a relationship way back when, it would have been more logical for me I guess. This just seemed...odd. Oh wait, I said that.
Other than that (and the annoying fact that apparently Sam's with "name that guy" in other realities [/me hopes Jack but it could be the mailman for all we know] and TPTB couldn't even tell us who she was with in OTHER realities?!??), I really REALLY enjoyed this episode. I need to think about it more and write a full review. Definitely THE BEST of this season so far.
Oh wait! I have one more beef. Why wasn't Sam with the guys when they go see Janet? I was really REALLY hoping for a nice teary reunion here...and got the last scene, a quick hug and a maternity leave comment that apparently didn't surprise Sam.
But still, BEST of season 9 so far.

I haven't seen Ripple effect ... yet. But I'm disappointed thatSpoiler:that they didn't use this opportunity to bring Jack back to us. Don't tell me that at least ONE SG-1 team doesn't have Jack ! But I do understand that probably RDA wasn't available for a week's filming. Makes me sad, but hey, we've got to live with itsigpic
There are only two things to worry about: either you are well or you are sick.
If you are well, then there is nothing to worry about: but if you are sick; there are two things for you to worry about: either you get well, or you die.
If you get well, then there is nothing to worry about. If you die: then there are two things to worry about: either you go up or down.
If you go up, then there is nothing to worry about. But if you go down, you will be so busy shaking hands with old friends you wont have time to worry.

Spoiler:I agree. They never came close to kissing in the past--and it's been a few years since he's been gone. For me, they should have spent the time with Janet. She was a much more important character to Sam and the whole team. They could have even had a scene where Cam says something about how great it is to meet her b/c he's heard so many good things about her.
