That's exactly it. They used to spend time working it out and getting really stressed about not getting it right. Somewhere along the line, the subplots got turned into the main plot and the detail of the mainplot got shafted.

Wow I just found this thread. AND IS IT HUGE! Hopefully TPTB can't ignore this many Sam fans. I have to say I've watched SG1 from the beginning and have enjoyed watching Sam's character grow. If there is a damsel is distress on this show I guess it would have to be Daniel. I love her kick-ass moments and would have to say one of my fav's is Hathor, when she and her small group of women (and Teal'c) have to save the base and the men

I haven't seen the pics your talking about, and since this is a huge thread could someone tell me which page of the thread they are on. Thanks very much. And just remember Sam rocks and it takes a talented actress like AT to pull off such a complex character.

I'm listening to the interview with GW that AT did recently. It adds more depth and make the interview even more enjoyable to hear the expression and jokes instead of just reading it. Thanks Über for working on it to allow us to hear it.

Anyway, we had some really cool science stuff filmed, but it got cut for time. We needed more of a ticking-clock feel to the episode, so we bumped Walter up and had him say 4 times that "the plague has spread". See how dramatic that sounds! Eh, just remind me later and I'll tell ya all about the great scenes we cut out.

It is a shame how they have written this seasons shows. I my self don't care much for the Vala character, and it would be a shame if they pushed Sam's character to the background to accomodate the Farscape fans

Sam's character is such a positive influence, can the same be said for Vala?

Maybe it's me and it's late ... but didn't anyone feel SAD about seeing this photo?! JM keeps telling us what a "fun" episode Ripple Effect will be ... but this one photo really touched me so much that I found myself wondering how melancholy I'll be after I see the whole episode.

I loved these two returning characters and will miss them even more ... it seems a cruel tease to give us what we really can't have back on a regular basis. Yes, of course, I want to see them but I will have mixed emotions throughout.

I think we'll have to wait and see how they write Vala in future eps.

There are several people on the thread who really like Vala, and several who don't. I think most of us would like to see some positive interaction between her and Sam... there is potential there. I don't think any of us want to see an adversarial relationship. Even though they may be opposites in terms of personality, I think that could be the foundation for some very interesting writing...

I'm really excited that we will have the true feeling of Stargate back, at least that's what I'm hoping for this episode. Yes I will miss the beloved characters and miss the type of episode I think it will be even more once it has gone off. I agree with you ChopinGal. LOL, you read my mind, Strix ... there are some very talented people in the performing arts ... professional and hobbyists too.

In a prior life, I played gigs and was/am a musician (keyboards). Dipsofjazz and tsaxlady and MajorSam play professionally ... banjo, sax, and sax. Any other musicians out there?!

How about dancers? Actors? Artists - painters, sculptors?! Please share your talents, Samandans! We can add these to the list too!

BTW, it's so true - we are well-rounded! I just took a look in the mirror and I'm even more rounded than I was before the holidays and all that good cooking!

i know i shouldn't do this, but i have high hopes in seeing some 'good' mitchell character growth. i want to see a serious mitchell. no one-liners. i want to see what makes this man tick. i want to see a good reason why this man is on this team, let alone why he'd be given the priviledge of leading it (or co-leading it).

Exactly Annsgcfan - I am hoping this episode takes me back to the good days when Stargate was Stargate. I am anxiously awaiting the REAL Staragte SG1 in this episode. Even it is only one ep at least I am looking forward to something having to do with this show once again. (I silently hope that the ratings for this ep are out of the ball park and TPTB will then have to ponder the question: hhhmmm why such high ratings for this ep and not the others? Gee maybe cuz right now you are writing crap that a lot of the core Stargate fans don't care about and are not watching???) It is a silent hope and if my hopes are dashed so be it - they have been dashed oohhh sooo maaaany times of late I'm used to it now.)

Well in adition to teaching full-time about 1/3 of my yearly salary comes from gig's with everything from jazz bands - subing for local orchestra - church gigs - I'm on the local unions First Call List (sax, fl, cl, ob)
