I want a green one with pink stars spread all around because it reminds me the colour of THE car in one my favourite movies from my childhood : L'Homme de Rio (That Man from Rio). It was hilarious and was also about a kidnapped damsel in distress.

Not that I want to play it 1speed, but first find me that blindfold.

I think I might have to put on full body armour before making the following comments, because I know I'm going to sound like a traitor to the Samandan realm....

I was musing today about whether I really could see Amanda Tapping as *the* lead. And honestly, I don't think I could. As part of a mixed ensemble, or as a joint lead with BB, yes, but "Amanda Tapping in Stargate SG1" doesn't quite sit right with me. I think the best I could see is the following

BEN BROWDER
AMANDA TAPPING

And then the Stargate SG1 screen. The two of them heading the show together works for me, but I can't quite feel that Amanda on her own quite... I really can't explain. It just doesn't sit right for me.

As for Sam lite vs Sam heavy episodes, I think the writers have cornered themselves into Sam heavy episodes, luckily for us. JM has recently said that Sam is the best developped character, and it shows. We know about her private life, he work life, Sam the scientist, Sam the solider. We know about maternal Sam and daughter Sam.

Because of the amazing character development she's undergone, Sam can carry almost any storyline, be it action, sci-fi or personal. As the lead scientist is a sci-fi show, she has to have a heavy expositional role, but TPTB have enough brains to know that she can't be cardboard cutout Sam and have given her so much more than just that.

Look what happened when AT went on maternity leave: they had to introduce a new scientist into the fold to do the exposition, and when Mitchell joined, they have Sam playing the teacher. Even in episodes where AT was on maternity leave, the constant involvement of the character proved that it would be near impossible to carry on Stargate without the Sam character that has made it what it is.

Quite frankly, I don't want any of them being the lead. Stargate is for me and has always been an ensemble show. You can't have good episodes if the role one of the main characters plays is missing. That's why I'm so craving for team episodes.
I certainly don't want the other team members to be wallpapered because of Sam heavy episodes. As much as I understand the focus one one of the characters and the need for "insert name" episodes, I really thinks Stargate is as his best and the characters develop the most on team episodes.

Ditto. I think my main point about Sam heavy episodes, is that we don't need to worry about not seeing Sam, because it can't work without her, just like we need Daniel (or Jonas) for the cultural/historical input, and Teal'c for his alien standpoint. Each character brings such a different quality to the show, just as each actor brings a different quality to the show.

one advantage to directing, no one cares if you're 'too old' 'too worn' 'too fat' 'too pregnant' etc, etc, etc.

directors arent hired on thier looks, they're hired on thier ability. this, other than the rampant 'boys club syndrome' that runs amuk in the entertainment industry, puts AT on more of a level playing field

lets just hope that coop & co will recognize that maybe it's time to give AT a little tit for tat and help her out a bit, letting her direct and get some more credits under her belt

Methinks that the Assistant Security Guard, 1speed, may be a bit too forward in meeting the Royal Pharmacist. Talk about having a captive audience!
