Qasim what sort of RL issues could possibly keep you away from a unique event like GABIT?
ForeverSG1 is laughing in the face of her fear of flying to get here, CG's daughter is coming to make sure her Mom doesn't get too excited and out of hand and 1speed is escorting me to make sure I keep a steady pace with the sloe gin. Dipsofjazz is coming down from Scotia and it should be one great get together!!
However, if you do bring your bottled gin, we may need both Jenn and 1speed to keep us in line!
Yes, I'm planning to keep some sort of travel diary about the event and hopefully share with fellow Samandans when I return. That is, if I don't "get too excited and out of hand" ... jeez ... those proper Brits!
I imagine Forever Sg1 and dipsofjazz and maybe Coley/1speed may be bringing some interesting tidbits back too. We won't forget our little kingdom!

That screenshot from Hathor is interesting (though I did get my hopes up when you said Sam, Janet and Tub scene!!!), being that holding a M4 like that for a left hander would definitely be awkard. The shells would be ejected straight across your face, and the charging handle might be in an awkard spot too. While it is possible to swap them around, it doesn't happen on the fly
But you're right, it does make sense if she's standing at a corner and needs to shoot around without exposing her body. The P-90 is great in that regard, because it's completely ambidextrous. I notice she did the same thing in Avatar
And another thing - its proven (or at least has significant evidence to back it up) that people who can use both hands equally as good, are able to work their brains more effectively. Perhaps that could explain why Sam seems to have a natural inuition for certain things?

Better yet, you're a college student and researching this topic ... you can find lots of meaty discussion about Sam Carter and why we think (here in Samanda) she is such an excellent role model of a strong sci-fi female. You'll have to just take the time to check out, especially, our first 300-700 pages of posts ... early on, almost every facet of Sam Carter's role and personality was discussed and critiqued. You'll find some wonderful posts - intelligent and thoughtful. Worthy of a college term paper! Go for it!
LOL Gotta love Berkeley ....

CGAnd, yeah, I have advertised in other appreciation threads. But I've got the potential of 5+ examples of Stargate Females (Sam, Weir, Teyla, Fraiser, and Vala) that could fit into my class, and I can't go through all the pages of *all* of their appreciation threads. I'd be reading and reading, and nothing would leak through!! So, I thought, I'd ask the experts and get a consise answer. Plus, I'm only going to spend one or possibly two days on Stargate, so I don't have unlimited time to invest in each character. I gotta allocate accordingly.
