Trying to catch up on the rewatch.

Going back to Forever in a Day.

Eh, nothing much shipp so not a fav. I agree with everything selene said about the ep and about Sha're. She was a much better character in the movie and I far preferred that actress.

This was Jonathan Glassner's favorite script he wrote. I think of his scripts Shades of Grey was probably the best, IMHO.

Personally, I think the whole story is too clever by half and leads to so many of the problems in the ep. There is so much about it that makes no sense from beginning to end. I won't even get into listing it all.

I think the whole thing would have been vastly improved if it all really happened. That way the character development would be real. I think the writers even forgot it wasn't real because Rothman was introduced here and later they act like we always knew him and not that his intro to the team was a figment of Daniel's imagination. Or was it Sha're's/Ammonet's imagination?

Anyone notice Daniel was wearing his "ascended sweater"?

The other problem with this ep is that they wanted to wrap up the Sha're storyline having done nothing with it in the first place. Then they had to give Daniel another reason to be out their so they brought in the harsesis idea, which also makes no sense and they again basically did nothing with.

      So good things:

      1. Good views of Jack's Six!
      2. Sam kicks butt.
      3. Daniel has the coolest birthday ever! (At least I think he does. Or maybe he imagined he has the coolest birthday ever because who wouldn't dream of sharing a B-day with me?)
      4. Bringing in the Egyptian mythology to the funeral was a great call back to the Abydonian's origins.
      5. I like the purple planet.

Summary: The Tok'ra Martouf arrives at the SGC with bad news: Jacob Carter and Selmak have been captured by Sokar and imprisoned on the hellish moon known as Netu. Jacob and Selmak have information that the Tok'ra need. A rescue mission is necessary. Except for one small detail: No one has ever escaped from Netu. No one that is, except Jolinar.

        Comments:

I was looking forward to this episode, as I'd heard a lot of good things about it. I was also looking forward to another episode with the Tok'ra. Well one in particular anyway... But it was a well rounded episode, definetely much better than the last season three episode I watched, Demons.

I also found the memory device to be an interesting gadget. It doesn't just show you the memories, you're actually feeling what's going on. Ex: Sam feeling Jolinar getting the pain stick (I don't remember the other name for it).

Sam and Jack: This episode had a lot of shippiness. There is this scene:

One of the few times that we actually see Jack being jealous over the fact that other men can show interest in her. Especially this man in particular.

When Sam has the memory device on her and feels the pain stick, and Jack tells Martouf to turn it off. And shortly thereafter, Jack has a conversation with Martouf about taking it a little more easy with the memory device, saying that if someone's escaped before, people can escape again.

Episode Rating: 9.5 I really enjoyed the episode, it was a good one throughout. Especially that ending where we find out who Naonak really is! This is definetely one of my favorite episodes I've seen so far.

Shippiness Rating: The shippiness is noticeable, but it's not really up in your face. I'd give it a 7-8 on the shippiness scale.

          Nice review, Sparky.
          Unmade Plans (WIP: 11/20):
Sam's life takes a turn in an unexpected direction when she's faced with an unplanned pregnancy. The decision to keep the baby and raise it on her own will alter her life forever. Relationships are put to the test, especially the one between her and Jack. She doesn't know what to expect from him and he surprises her at every turn.

Thanks for the nice review, Sparky. I like the episode. Very much. That often happens when an ep is Sam centered

Summary:During the attempt to rescue Jacob and Selmak, SG-1 and Martouf are captured by Sokar's first prime Naonak. Turns out "Naonak" is none other than their old enemy Apophis. He proceeds to torture them for information to give to Sokar in exchange for his release. Using the memory recall device along with a liquid hallucinogen known as "The Blood of Sokar", infiltrates the memories of SG-1 and Martouf, masquerading as people that are important to them. Apophis masquerades as Jacob in Sam's memories to try and find a way around Earth's iris. With Jack, he poses as Charlie to try and get the location of the Asgard home world. When it comes to Martouf, he does not do the impersonation himself, but uses Sam in the place of Jolinar. Here it seems that he's succeeded in getting infomation out of him. But Martouf tricked Apophis. With Daniel, he masquerades as Jack to find out where Amonet sent the harcesis child.

Comments: Again this was another very interesting episode to watch. I loved it when Teal'c manages to subdue Aldwin and is able to rescue everyone and destroy Sokar.

Apophis's level of nastiness in this episode (though he's always nasty) is higher than it used to be. Masquerading as the various loved ones... the one that I hated the most was when he was impersonating Charlie with O'Neill.

Another was the shippy moment when Jack tried to stop the denizens from taking Sam to Apophis and getting a staff blast to his knee for his troubles.

I also liked it when we find out that Martouf tricked Apophis about the location of the Tok'ra resistance.

Episode Rating:I'd give this episode a 8-8.5 rating. It was still an excellent episode, but the previous one was better in my opinion.

Sam/Jack Shippiness: This episode is an 8.5-9 on the shippiness scale. The obvious shippy moment of Jack trying to stop Sam from being taken to Apophis is what gets the episode higher than "Jolinar's Memories".

Really liked both of the episodes, loved the team work, loved the S/J, and of course my favorite Tok'ra.

I'd like Upgrades. Yet another Tok'ra episode! Since the chances of me getting "Divide and Conquer" are pretty slim.

I think it belonged to a young fan who's wish it was to get her dog on SG-1 (a Make-A-Wish foundation wish, I think!)

Apophis was indeed pretty nasty in this episode, using Sam to get to Martouf was a brilliant move even though it failed to work.
