Just got an email from a friend from Los Angeles. In the Times business section this morning, there is an article saying that MGM studio is in debt for 3.5 billion and they are releasing only one film this year which is Fame and 4 next year. The Hollywood insiders don't think the company can survive. They did not say anything about DVD productions so I'm not saying they aren't going to make the movies but things aren't looking good for MGM. IMO if you have the money this is the time to invest and buy what we can from MGM so they can make to produce our movies. I know lots of us have hard feeling with things they have done in the past but now it's the season for all good Stargate fans to join together and prove what we can do, to help them out of this mess. This is an absolutely selfish reaction to the news because I do want closure to S/J and the Atlantis story line.

I'm actually kind of happy with that article because MGM still has its head above water. If the head honchos at MGM have any sense at all they'll get those two films into production ASAP, because they'll make money on them, which is more than you can say for a lot of productions.
But, if they don't even have the money for Stargate movies, they might as well sell off the assets now, because they're doomed.

MGM passes audit, says it's in 'full compliance' with debt requirements

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., scrambling to refinance its $3.7-billion loan, said in a statement Wednesday that an audit showed the struggling studio to be in "full compliance with all of its debt covenants."
The results of the audit are welcome news for MGM; nonetheless, few in Hollywood believe that the debt-ridden company can survive much longer in its present form without being sold or merged with another media company.

Here's the link to the page of the L.A. Times, with the article, if anyone wants it (although trupi posted the entire article). tsaxlady posted this link earlier today.

I agree that Stargate is cheap and easy to make, and has a reliable fan base. But it sounds like MGM is spending almost nothing right now.
I'm I still think there's a good chance that we'll hear more at Comic Con.

Hm. Interesting to have your eyebrow shaven... they probably could have just let it grow over and no one would have been the wiser.

You see I'm with Pol on that. I always think that, unless a specific stated timeframe is mentioned in an episode, there's really no telling how long it occurs over. Some episodes clearly cover periods of time more than a week or so (Hundred Days, Beneath The Surface, Red Sky, Paradise Lost etc. ) and others clearly take place in a couple of days at most (48 Hours, Descent, There But For The Grace Of God, Entity). There's no mention of what happens in between but if we assume the 20 - 22 episodes are spread out over the course of 12 months (52 weeks) and some are bunched together and some weeks and months apart then there is still enough time in between to cram in recovery from injury etc.sigpic

I'm sure this doesn't take into account injuries and the various episodes that definitely do take place over the course of several days or weeks, but in The Tok'ra, after Jacob has been told what Sam has been involved in and he asks her if she goes through the gate very often, her reply is something like "a couple of times a week". That's assuming, of course, if all missions go smoothly ... which they obviously often don't.
