Personally sinisterdeath I think that the cargo ship looks fine, but if you want something there it could always be a small bridge structure like the one midway up on the Daedalus class.
burrows might've been talking about the thread, ie we should add more ships

I like sinisterdeath's cargo ship. Small and simple. Just like Terran ships should be.

soz, i shouldve been a bit more discriptive(sp?) but by more stuff, i meen more in depth(e.g maybe a bit more storyline?maybe add some more defences like ecm and eccm)

you said you were open to suggestions

btw, i like the cargo ship...just a quik suggestion, change the design so it is less like teh daedalus...it is like a mini-me for the daedalus

Thought I'd post a couple pics with my incomplete 302 moddel to give you guys an idea of the size of my ship. Its looks smaller than I thought it'd be, but thats part of what makes it cheap and easy to build.

Sweet! The model rocks! Both do, actually!

That's a very cool model cooky.

anyway in case some of you don't remember I posted a rough base for a cruiser/carrier concept earlier in this thread but I never really finished it...well I still haven't but I've made something slightly different out of the original design.

            this is the
Carter-class carrier/cargo ship. Named after the late Jacob Carter.

It's primary mission is to transport twenty-three F-302's into combat situations. Unfortunately due to its large cargo/aircraft capacity (it can hold two Tel'taks along with it's twenty-three fighters) it can't carry any large caliber rail-guns thus it only has eight point defense cannons.

It is capable of atmospheric flight and landing (though it is hard to find an area big enough for it). Its crew accommodation's are a spartan affair with only enough room for six guests when you include the crew of 55.

this is the Selmak-class battleship(or destroyer) its primary mission is to blast the bejesus out of everything that is considered a threat to Homeworld Security (off of the planet earth of course). It has no docking area of its own and an incredibly small cargo capacity (it would be able to hold one F-302 if you could fit it through the door). there are 25 wild-weasel missile launchers with a total of 850 multi-directional multi-kiloton (4 or 5) naquadah enhanced nuclear missiles (with a shaped charge), 8 point defense coilguns, and 4 heavy double coilguns (which can fire a projectile near the speed of light). Its crew consists of 120 individuals.

            How are these, any comments?

              Production:
              Del Shakka Mel (commissioned)
              Garek (under construction)

              Background:

Conceived as the next-generation of Gou'ald battleships, the prototype Cheops-class mothership under construction by Anubis was left incomplete when the System Lord was defeated over Earth. The Cheops would later be seized by Ba'al, but he was unable to complete it when elements of the Free Jaffa, led by Master Bre'tac, stole the partially-finished starship and hid it near Chulak. When the Free Jaffa Nation was at last established, the Cheops was originally going to be destroyed, due to it's connections with the System Lord Anubis. However, with the threat of the Ori, the vessel was quickly taken to the orbital shipyards around Erebus and a systematic upgrade and refit was undertaken.

Renamed the Del Shakka Mel, the vessel possessed numerous advances over the standard Ha'tak-class mothership, but was roughly the same size. It utilized a form of inert naquada armor that the Tau'ri shared with the Free Jaffa Nation in return for help with perfecting their ion drives. In addition, with the help of the Asgard, they were able to improve the Ancient-knock-off shielding Anubis had installed on the Del Shakka Mel. The final enhancement to the basic design was the inclusion of four Type V Staff Cannons-Vast improvements over previous Gou'ald ship-to-ship weapons, and able to deal devastating damage against all but the most powerful ships in the universe.

The Del Shakka Mel was one of the few Free Jaffa vessels to not suffer destruction or catastrophic damage in the Battle of the Supergate, but was forced to disengage when her weapons were destroyed. She later assisted the Earth ship Abydos in escorting the survivors of the allied fleet in their retreat.
I like this ship, and the story line, i think the name needs some work, but its kool, can you make up some other veiw, like, a top view?

                Background:
Developed as a first step in China’s fleet it doesn’t have the hyperspace capabilities that the later planned capitol ship classes. Its primary mission is to escort cargo ships from one place to another unfortunately without a hyper drive it is severely limited in its escort capabilities thus the Chinese government is pressuring the Russia and the US to allow them access to the greater power sources that will enable the Shinobi-class to truly become an interstellar escort.
I would maybe add some armour based on the stuff the kull warriors wore that would absorb and disperse energy weapons fire. Might help in secondary defenses when protecting another ship. I might also add 2 missle launchers with maybe a total payload of about 8-10 missiles. Other than that I like the size and the fact that it for once is not the US devoloping it.

OKay, i'm reposting my DS-300 design. I recently got the game "Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords" which has a tool to design your own ships useing a large array of components.

                  DS-300: Terran DropShip

Purposeimple, a small ship (around Tel'tak size) for landing and boarding parties.

Involved parties: US Military, Russia, and all "informed" members of the EU

                  Development Cost:13.4 Billion US$

                  Production Cost:1.8 Billion US$/per unit

Power:Two (small) Naquada Generators, one for Hyperdrive, one for others systems.

Capacity:Enough space (in memory) for 50 personel, plus two pilots and cargo space rivaling that of a Tel'tak.

Defenseheild and cloke cannabalized from a Tel'tak.

Armament:No true armament, but is equiped for the carrying and deployment of small mines and/or auto-turrets(currently in development).

Other Tech:A cross-breed between Asgard beams and Wraith Culling beams.
                  Asgard sensors
Rings to deploy mines and cargo, also as backup transporters.

History: After reading countless mission reports involving SG teams that either died, or nearly died, because they were trapped on another world without access to a gate and had to wait for Prometheus or another Terran ship to arrive, and after hearing the pleading of Major General O'Neill, the Chief's of Staff decided that the Terran fleet needed its own drop ships.

Thus the DS-300 line began. The Russians were more than ready to help, seeing as many of their own have died because of the lack of such a ship. The many members of EU who are informed about the gate were at first unwilling, but were convinced when confronted with soldiers who lost team members who could have been saved by such a vessel.

After reading the mission report on the seige of Atlantis by the Wraith (The Siege), several members of the Chiefs of Staff were startled by the efficiency that a lone dart exhibited in dropping large numbers of Wraith troops into the city. Thus they prompted the researchers to implement Asgard beams in this manner. Although Asgard beaming tech is not equiped to operate in this way, new data on Wraith culling beams has allowed our scientists to make some alterations, allowing the DS-303 to scoop up several dozen soldiers. Such large numbers are possible through the study of Pegasus model Control Crystals.

The Hyper-Drives were a give-in, all current BC-303/4's do not have the room in their bays for such a craft. Unwilling to rely completely on hull plateing and cloaks, engineers decided to use weaker, gould designed sheilds, in place of the now standard Asgard sheilds. In order to save space for larger memory banks engineers used two smaller generators. Each is around 60% the size of a normal generator and produces 75% the power, a net space gain.

The first vessel will be off the line in three weeks, unfortunately not intime for the pending Ori invasion, where they would surely be of great aid. Officials were hopeing to use the Carter-Bypass method to get past the sheilds and board the enemy vessels, or at the least deploy mines near the hull. However this has proven impossible, as the Jaffa recently reported that the Ori have an active super-gate.

Despite the production of nearly a dozen different ship models, increased trade with various cultures, and the use of disquised alien tech in ever increasing markets on Earth is giveing the Terran's enough resources to produce 4 DS-300's each year starting at the end of 2007.

well I figured that China and all of the other stargate allied nations were only getting tech that area 51 understood enough to produce, thus no really nifty energy stopping armour for the Shinobi. The missiles might be a good Idea but again this ship is primarily for anti-fighter defense/offense and the coilguns/railguns are far cheaper to keep loaded than a missile system that fires naquadah enhanced warheads.

Yes I figured that other nations would start to construct their own ships soon, especially after they achieve hyper-drive then all they must do is locate near-bye worlds with the extra-solar materials needed for starship construction.

Believe it or not, I only added the antenna, the lights on the antenna, the pylons on the back, and the wing like pylons on the sides in the back. The original hull looks complicated, but its really just alot of little stuff put together. Anyway, besides those things its just the base hull design.

A little note before people start slapping military terms...

Dreadnaughts are ships with the most powerful guns, medium to light armor and shielding, and medium engines. They're designed to deliver a powerful blow, not deploy fighters and warships. It's the big gun. Making a dreadnaught a "rapid-response vessel" is like calling an armed Boeing 767 your "high speed inteceptor".

Carriers - THESE deploy your fighters and warships.

Light Carrier - These would more likely be your rapid-response vessels. Only carry a squadron or two, fastest engines, light to medium armor, and a few powerful defense weapons.

Do some research on how modern military deems their vessels before you start labelling their types. LOL.
