Look, normal gunpowder fired shells cannot be fired in space. The chemistry would not work and neither would the physics. The vacuum would play havock with the hole set up.

Look, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. They do definately work in space. What about the chemistry and physics does not work? You have nothing to back up your statement.

Remember how I said that the bullets were manufacured on earth, that means that it was exposed to oxygen, and chances are some of that O2 got in. That little amount of O2 is enought to set off a reaction with the sulfur and other stuff in the gunpowder, which will release more O2 from the KNO3. Pay attention in school. Many things come in handy.

After the devastating Battle of P3Y-229, the International
Oversight Committee immediately petitioned the United States
government to release the technology needed to build starships
to other nations. Despite the incredible danger of the Ori
threat, the US government was still reluctant to give out
military technology. So a compromise was arranged: In exchange
for money and additional resources, the United States military
would build other nations combat starships that they then could
crew with American observers and assistants aboard. The Russians
and British were not part of this arrangement, having earned the
trust of the US to build and man their own starships.
However, to construct the nessecary starships would require
additional facilities to build them in-Facilities the United
States had not finished. It was therefore decided to reactivate
the Prometheus construction facility in Utah, in order to get as
many ships as possible into the air. A few of the governments
that were part of the Stargate Treaty were unhappy intially at
getting what they perceived as out-of-date starships, but
accepted it when given the alternative of having no starships at
all until the new DSC-304 facilities were finished-At least one
year away.

With assistance from the Asgard, the United States built three
new BC-303s to uprated specifications in a matter of months.
Upgraded Asgard shielding, hyperdrives, and heavier armor
protection increased the BC-303's survivability rating by an
order of magnitude. The ship's smaller size and profile made it
a more difficult target to hit than the DSC-304, and it's lower
mass made it more agile. The biggest improvement to the vessels
was the inclusion of a second Mk. II naquada reactor, intended
to prevent the same crippling blow that destroyed the
Prometheus herself.

The three new BC-303s were split up among Russia, China and
Britain, and were named the Potempkin, Jinghau,
and Endeavor respectively. They joined the newest US
DSC-304 Columbia, and a fourth BC-303, the Titan,
operated by the US Air Force. The ships were finished just in
time to defend Earth against an attack launched by Jaffa loyal
to the Ori in late 2006, and were surprisingly effective at
driving off the attacking force of nine Ha'taks. The
BC-303As are being constructed at a furious rate to make up for
the technological superiority of the Ori, and with their
higher-calibre rail guns are being sought for deployment to the
Pegasus galaxy to combat the Wraith. Their relative fast and
easy construction is making them the prefered Earth ship of the
line, and a true multi-national effort that is uniting the
nations of Earth as few things have before.

my final nag, bullets are not air tight, if they were they wouldn't work, thus when the bullet is introduced into a vaccum the air would escape and the bullet would collapse on itself. Thus making the bullet unusable.
If the bullet was surrounded by air and then fired into a vacuum after initial reaction then it would work.

There is your physics and chemistry. I study them for my 6th form education third year aswell.

Here’s my Orbital and Deep Space Refit and Repair ship I need a good name for it so if any body can think of one that would be helpful

Crew: A crew big enough to build to ships engineers, workers, technicians and the materials to restock and rebuild the ships

Armor: Active Battle Armor system that polarizes the hull of the ship when in coming plasma blasts are detected.

Shielding: Standard Asgard shields from a 304

Sub light: 4 Standard Engines from a 304 and 5 small thruster

Hyper Drive: Standard Hyper Drive from a 304

Weapons: 12 large Rail guns, 24 vertical missile lunch tubes


Scanners: Asgard Sensor array 2 Advanced Search and Recovery arrays

Description: Large Square Plate like Ship big enough to dock with two human starships. 50 decks in total, 40 in between the refit bays to hold all supplies for refit and for on ship use, crew quarters are also located here. The other 10 decks are used in the bridge tower. The docking Clamps are 5 decks tall to ensure proper and secure docking. Weapons are not intended for offensive use, but to defend it’s self if it comes under fire, not made for a prolonged firefight so in order to avoid such a situation, the ship is to fire and open a hyper space window and jump through. This ship is the largest human starship ever made to allow for docking with every type of human made starship.

Umm, 50 decks? I don't think the Nimitz class carrier even has 50 decks. Just how do you build this thing in secret?

Since the FJN learned of the ori they have sought to build a new flagship able to combat them head on, their efforts have resulted in the jaffa ubertak the first newly designed ship after the fall of the goa'uld. Completed after the supergate battle the ubertak was rushed into battle against a single ori mothership on course for dakara flanked by 6 ha'taks the ubertak triumphed it's new canons dealling huge amounts of damage although one on one still no match for the ori warship. The battle cost the ship huge damage and 3 ha'taks were destoryed regardless it was seen as a stunning victory. The ubertak can withstand atleast 4 direct hits from the ori main canon although not without taking heavy damage.

Designed and built by the Rogue NID faction known as “The Trust” it incorporates many weapons and design specs that the design team for the 301's, 302's, 303's, and 304's did not have access too. It was seized three days prior to its planned launch by sections of the Department for Home-world Defense as well as the NID. The technology that was gained by its discovery, while not a match for the Ori’s fleet, are a serious step in the right direction. It was deployed immediately due to the Tau’ri’s severe lack of ships during the crisis.

It’s commander is Lieutenant Colonel Marcie Jacobson, an experienced pilot and very well versed in three dimensional tactics (at least as far as earth commanders are). The Spirit has participated in numerous engagements with the minor threats our galaxy has but is planned to be mainly used in a support role for our deep space carriers.

(there are many more planned but whether or not they will be built is still being discussed)

Background:
The Charon was designed shortly after the Ori’s Assault on the Jaffa’s worlds began. The first ship took nearly a year to complete and by that time it was desperately needed to help hold the Ori’s advance into the Hebridian system. Unfortunately the mission to save the system failed and the Charon instead had to help the Odyssey ferry thousands of Hebridians to the alpha site for relocation. Several hundred of those survivors opted to stay behind at the alpha site and help Earth in its mission to defeat the Ori’s forces in this galaxy. Thanks to those Hebridians who stayed behind Earth’s understanding of technology advanced much faster than was possible before hand. Because of this several design changes were made to the next generation of Charon's including more powerful Pulse Guns and several hundred missiles(for these to be included the ships basic hull design had to be modified).
