If you all don't mind i would like to re weigh in to this debate. I have searched all possible references to sizes of the BC 304's and except for fandom where I guess they would like the 304's to seem bigger than they are, the only studio or MGM references are under 300mtrs.

Gosh...

I thought we had agreed on a size of 600+m length?

Has anyone scaled an hat'ak...after all we have seen one land on top of the SGC?

actually what i did 4 the main pyramid section of a hatak was get the ground level measure ments of the great pyramids in giza and add a couple of hundred feet(2-300ft) on each side.(since the hataks are designed to land on the pyramids) insofar as the black scaffold attatched to the main part of the ship i havent done that yet but using the size of the main part might help someone to get an accurate scale.

The link is way too old Bob, and it is not hearsay, it was genuine at the time, at this point the MGM site down here in Australia has changed hands and it now belongs to network Ten and they have not updated all the old info. But when I posted this last year the link was still active and several forum members confirmed it at the time. Sorry but that is all I have for now. I know that Major Mike used this site for all his FanFic data and he was very thorough in his research as Aragon will confirm. But Mike has not posted on GW for some time, RL has taken precedent

Ok Here is my fifth scaling of the Daedalus. It's actually four because one is a Hive scaling.



F-302 to Hanger Bay Door

Width of body is = 48.1 feet

250 pixels/48.1 feet = 5.197

436 pixels/ 5.197 = Width of Hanger Door is 83.9 feet

112 pixels/ 5.197 = Height of Hanger Door is 21.5 feet


F-302 to Width of Bay

Width of body is = 48.1 feet

250 pixels/48.1 feet = 5.197

576 pixels/ 5.197 = Width of Bay is = 110.8 feet


Width of Bay to Width and Length of Ship

Width of Bay = 110.8 feet

8 pixels/110.8 feet = 0.072202

55 pixels/ 0.072202 = 761.7 feet

132 pixels/ 0.072202 = 1828.20 feet

Length of Ship is = 1828.20 feet, 557.2 meters

Width of Ship is 761.7 feet, 232.2 meters

My First Daedalus Scaling (revised)-- 582 meters
My Second Daedalus Scaling-- 571.46 meters
My Fourth Daedalus Scaling-- 575.65 meters

I have to concur with ALX. A real, even estimated draft of the ship is conclusive enough for the fighters and the human.

Pixels...are the worse method to gauge size...it's more precarious than you can possibly imagine as you are never given trust worthy orthographic views. All you can hope for is a schematic view somehwhere like the one Boberth used previous...and that is only useful for the overall scale length width.

I must agree with Bob. The fact that bob's done it 3 times with different images and got a similar results concludes that his scaling is the best so far.

Totally agreed, it's fan wrote so I could go on and change it now...like this argument it is only relevent to those that care here. can we just poll camps...who is with 550m + and who is 280m for the length of the deadalus.

that way when we do a model and scale it next to a 304 we will know which is which; that way we stop the argumental problems...we can just label the 304 small and big.
