# of decks 56Calvin grows up to be Frazz. The logical continuation of this is, of course, that Frazz then grows up to be Edward Norton's character from Fight Club. And thus, all four of these characters are gods.Let's go one more step. Calvin grows up to be Jeremy, who grows up to be Frazz, who grows up to be "Tyler Durden," while Suzie grows up to be Haruhi Suzumiya; since Kyon becomes The Doctor, this leads to the inescapable conclusion that after the end of Fight Club, Calvin becomes Captain Jack.

well at least my ship is not a fanwank like the others it is acually resonable and is not like the 10km and can hold 300 death stars. (p.s. that ship goes agienst all the known laws of physics. because 10km can not hold even 1 thing the size of the moon)hail prommie

I pronounce it FANWANK... weak FANWANK.
[edit] OK, working the math on the Hyperdrive figure, unless someone quotes Asguard hyperdrive speeds at over 1 trillion c, I think your drive is about 400 times faster than an Asgard drive. (Or 400k, if Asgard drives are at millions rather than billions.) Quite definitly FANWANK.
Also, if that was even possible, then it would be a Battleship, not a BC (which is Bomber/Carrier, Battle Cruiser, or something else).Last edited by NoDot; 01 July 2006, 09:58 PM.This poster has a Superiority Complex. Apologies in advance.

I agree that a new ship design is needed. I was thinking I would base it on old World War battleships to come up with a bigger, badder ship for the Tau'ri. The truth is, I really don't see the Daedelus Class Battlecruiser being enough of a match for Ha'tak or Wraith Hive ships unless they are in greater numbers to take them on. And with the rate that Earth seems to be building ships(which isn't very high it seems, unless the SG producers are holding out on us), they are downsizing their effectiveness to wage any kind of war against to Ori, and any other races that are already in the Milkyway that are potential enemies, and don't forget about the Achen. They already have a vast starfleet which they were using before they discovered their stargate. Not to mention the Jaffa that have an interest in conquest.
I think Earth's best chance of manufacturing enough ships is to send the designs to China. They tend to take designs and reverse engineer them, and find ways of building them faster and cheaper. Also, it's hard to fight a war in secret. At some point, the Stargate program will have to go public so various companies can be contracted to build weaponry for the war effort. I'll draw up a design and post it for you, and I promise not to overboard on it's capabilities and size.
I picked a sea vessel to model it off of, because I heard or read somewhere that the best ships will always be built at sea.

Basing new designs on sea-going equivilants is a good idea. I'm using it on my current destroyer project, and have based the weapon systems of my other earth ships on real world designs werever possible. Its probly the easiest way to make a realistic ship.
The Daedalus class ships are an odd ball though. They don't really fit into any existing ship catagory. They're part carrier, part missle boat and part destroyer. And they're alot bigger than many may think. If wikipedia's estimate of the Daedalus's dimensions are acurate (and they are at the least farelly close) then the Daedalus is larger than a Nimitz class aircraft carrier, the largest vessel in the U.S. military.
I personally don't think the Daedalus is quite the failure most people do. Remember, it was designed to fight Ha'tak's, not hive ships, and no Daedalus class ship has never had a significant engagement with ha'taks. The one in off the grid was not a major fight or a good test of Odyssey's capabilities. Even then, the Odyssey's rail guns were able to damage the ha'taks. Throw in missles and some good tactics, and I think a Daedalus class ship could easilly handle 3 or 4 ha'taks at a time. Hive ships are many times larger than ha'taks. If a single ha'tak went up against a lone hive, I don't think it would do to well, despite the advantage of shields.

i like the new ship cooky.
Someone should try and create a model or scene with a collection of all the models in this thread...i dont kow how but it must be possible, create a 'future fleet' by using the models on Gw..just to see how it would look...sigpic

{Mod Snip}
that IS a fanwank, we dont have drones to put on ships
we DONT have an oniel class hyperdrive {Mod Snip}
ancient sheild tech? didnt we go over this like 1 page ago, {Mod Snip}
clocking, dont know {Mod Snip} that is but im sure you ment cloaking, no, we cannot cloak a full ship, sokar did it with his fleet, that was destroyed, no one knows how to do it now, sorry you suck
99.9% speed of light on sub-light engine...it is SUB-light, {Mod Snip} .1 percent less then light {Mod Snip}
you do know how fast light speed is right? turn on a lightswitch, see how long it takes for the light turn on...speed of light, our ships cannot and will not go that fast for awhile, the prommy i beleive clocks in at about 400,000 mph once it breaks atmosphere, yes it is fast, but not as fast and light speed buddyLast edited by TameFarrar; 06 July 2006, 09:05 PM.

The sublight engines are designed to provide quick travel in a solar system. When longer journey's are required, you need a hyperdrive. The hyperdrive finds a way around the einsteins laws of relativity. The hyperdrives create a conduit through an extra-dimensional field in which the speed of light could be faster or slower. The sublight engines are still required in hyperspace though. I don't know if that helps/hurts anyone's arguments, but that's just my 2 cents.

99.9% of the speed of light
That gives a lorentz factor of approximately 22.366, which means that the ship will experience time dilation of 2237%, as well as a 2237% increase in mass and a 2237% decrease in length, so the ship will end up 4.5% of the length it is normally!
In contrast, 90% of the speed of light will give a lorentz factor of 2.294
And 50% of the speed of light gives a lorentz factor of 1.155
