    After a while you get used to all the races and stuff, i joined 3.0 when they were discussing the death of Drac, super reaper that never dies unless an ancended dan kills him with those snazzy powers of his. Now i'm designing the city and citadel of the Halen

        its a bigger and more outlined version of stargate, we simply continue where the show has stopped

          the biggest fun I think it gives, is that you can let your own ideas help to form the galaxy, for we have seen only a small bit of what is out there

            I agree that jumping in mid way through is difficult, i have been on the recieving end of that just today. But you only really need to stick around and learn the basics and most of the stuff is repeated often enough that you pick it up as you go along. For 3.0 for example all you really need to know are the basics, Reaper are Super Wraith, Navos and Halen are Ancients that went to Andromeda so are basicly what the ancients should have been like in the show without the wraith wiping them out. And the Tauri are mixed in with the Asgard and Lantians but have a powerful Trust like organisation that are about to cause civil war. That basicly sums up 3.0, the rest could can pick up or ask.

            And yes the fleets are IMO one of the best forms of Fanfiction we have, not as specific and one person as normal fanfic and not as niche and hard to developed as VS's. More like a Fanfic MMORPG, lots of people taking the shows universe in new directions but using bits of the origional mythology in new grander ways.

              The First harkons the Galactica but the second...
              this one is intresting...fascinating. The Head resonates Earth Design and the tail adds an element to Stargate ships that hasn't been seen yet. The middle part is problematic.

              Perhaps (only a suggestion) modular this section, instead of the layered body that is there. The ship is very big compared to other Tauri ships. Perhaps go back to the Prometheus' design cues and create a modular section for the Hyperdrive engines that will further make the design distinctive.

              For every ship I design I give it a role and purpose that guides the design development What is this second ships purpose?

                  It looks that way.
                  Carriers have certain necessities of Design.
                  Landing Bays or strips, Close in Phalanx style weapons for defense, at least a limited number of long range weapons (I'd do beam weapons instead of mk 9 tactical nukes), and even though todays carriers aren't ...especially heavily armored I see no reason why Tauri carriers shouldn't be.

                  Landing Bays should be interconnected. I've always agreed with the Tiger's Claw, Galactica, Daedulus style landing bay because of the Ease of entry and egress. They can be interconnected Easily by a limited infrastructure to move supplies, ordinance and fighters from one bay to another AND it makes the most defensive sense forcing the enemy to conduct a dual attack to take out both bays becuase the body of the ship is between them blocking the shot.

                  The Galaxy Class Style landing bay is better for numerous small craft. They fit easily in a deck plan, numerous bays along the hull allow for much more ease of access and departure, of course if one bay is out then another can take over. And I think most importantly fighters can quickly turn around and exit without traveling a good portion of the length of the ship to exist. The down side is that hull rupture can take out multiple bays in a section, the infrastructure is alot more complicated (Alot) and depending on the number of these types of bays it always make sense to hardpoint them laterally down the side of the ship instead of aiming them forward or aft like the Galaxy does forcing fighters to manuver to the objective or forcing the carrier to turn away from it's objective.

                  Like with Odyssey deployment of the cluster missle on the replicator home world exit from hyperspace deployment is everything.

                    Merlin can explain that when his carrier enters the battle, all squadrons are launched as fast as possible from long range. He can also explain everything else about it.

                    I was in this modeling challenge, then my computer broke half way through and i couldn't partisipate.

                      That reminds me that fighter retrival is a bit more difficult with only forward facing bays or starboard port returns. I think the Galactica system is one of the best I've seen...maybe the Midway is better but only in that respect. 1,800 meters from entry and exit on a carrier is just not efficient.

                        Right...eyes are in a crazed sense through staring at images of cakes, too many cakes for any man.

                        The Bellerophon class fighter carrier was created for the modeling challenge, I created it so that it carried huge amounts of fighters that could be launched quickly and recovered quickly. Intigrating Asgard technology such as the transporters to move fighters internally and the Asgard tractor beam tech to quickly guide ships into hangers.

                        The carrier holds 56 Penthetor fighters and 124 302 fighters.

                        The Bellerophon was done quite a few months ago, before the Hermes, Orpheus and Triton class.

                            that was the APOLLO not the odyssey.....
                            also its called a "Horizon Module".
