I can see the goa'uldy thing you mean, while making it I held it up to the light and it looked almost exactly like Anubis's mothership!

The ship is used by people escaping their homeworld after attack/natual disaster/for change of scenery. most likely to be human although to be honest I havent put much thought into the story. there would also be more than one, but sanding all those buildings was too painful to do again! there are 106 of them! You should have seen the blisters I had! Not to mention the cuts from the sharp edges and my scalpel!

In 2022 The USAF and other users of the ageing Daedalus class ship sumitted a design brief for an upgrade to the current design. What they got was alot more. Galactic Industries got the design brief and started work on a prototype. At no more than 12 weeks into the project GI had found this task much harder than originally thought. The hulls of the current 304's were weak compared to modern alloys, mainly due to imperfections in the purification process at the time of constuctoin , and the computer cores were not as adaptible as the newer ones. GI decided that a new ship was the only answer. They bought an old 304 from the USAF to work from and started on the new ship. The BC-326 'Avenger' has a similar hull design to the 304 class,(to keep construction costs down), but that is the only similarity. The 326 is equipped with much more modern technology and has many advantages over the 304. To name a few:
Increased hyperspace speed, can reach pegasus galaxy in just under 10 days
More offensive and defensive capability
Increased sub-light speed
Dedicated Diplomatic rooms
Heat-shields*

All of this adds up to increased survivability in hostile teritory. ( not quite sure how the Diplomatic rooms increase the survivability but it sounds good )

2022: (febuary) Upgrade Design brief is submitted by all users of the 304 class of ship.

2022: (febuary) Galactic Industries begin work on prototype
2022: (May) Major Problems encounted , work begins on replacement ship

2023: (june) New prototype is completed, primary testing commences
2023: (august) Hyperspace testing commences, 112% of expected performance

2025: 6 orders are placed, all are deliverd within the year
2025: Galactic industries breaks recored for ship production speed.

2027: 23 november (current date)

History

The Intrepid class attack cruiser was designed to be a ship that could hold its own against multiple types of threats. The Intrepid class was first put into production on November. 12, 2009 after 5 months of planning, designing, and IOA meetings. The Intrepid had an 11 month shakedown to sort out a few flaws including doors that weren't closing properly on 5 decks. The Intrepid also saw combat action when the Illac Renin attacked the Alpha Site in 2009 to test Earth's defenses and attempt to destroy whatever ship(s) that came. The Intrepid came and destroyed the 4 Hatak while taking damage itself. Over the next 3 years, 5 more ships were built.

The X-308 Artemis was completed on the eve of the Battle for Earth, the day when wraith found their way here. Human fleet was suffering heavy losses before Artemis arrived from off world colony fully armed and ready for action. The Wraith hives turned all their attention on her and opened fire. Her cutting edge Asgard shields, equipped with some properties of atlantis shield solidity, withstood the bombardment well without serious damage. Her powerful sublight drives allowed the ship to evade some of the hive main weapon blasts. Quickly opening fire from her both beam weapons she managed to cut through several hiveships with few well placed shots. Despite of her advanced technology and careful planning, some critical weapon error caused her main weapons to overload and rendered the ship almost useless against the hives. While still enflicting heavy losses to wraith darts and cruisers her shields went down eventually and the ship was destroyed.

Despite the loss of the ship, the I.O.A was convinced enough to order full scale production of X-308, changing it's class to F-308 Artemis. With her technology perfected, the ship was one of the most powerful ships in fleet.
